I really enjoy giving and receiving small personalized items, either with my full name, first name, initials or just the first letter of my name. I thought it would be fun to do a swap where we can all get something new and cool with our first-name initial.

So here's the deal... We will each have 3 swap partners and this will be international. (Swappers with low ratings or blank profiles will be dropped. If you're new, please fill out your profile!)

When you sign up, please leave a comment on this page specifying the letter of your first name (in case it's not clear with your registered name).

Once you are given your partners to send to, you will check to see what the first letter of their first names are. If you're not sure, ask (either here or by e-mail).

You will send each partner (at least) one item (worth at least $5) with their first name initial. Some ideas:

  • a set of note cards or other stationery with their monogram printed, stamped, embroidered, etc. on it (my personal favourite)
  • a key chain of the letter of their first name
  • a coin purse with their monogram on it
  • a (good quality) charm or pendant with their first name initial
  • a journal or small notebook with the first name initial
  • a nice (not tiny) rubber stamp of the letter

If you can think of other ideas, please post them!

A handmade item can be fine (perhaps you can ask your partner first, to see if they would mind), as long as it's REALLY NICE and meets the requirements.

Three partners should ensure that everyone gets at least one or two nice items. :)

Good question, keroleen. I guess it's subjective. Besides, a handmade item can be much nicer than a $20 store-bought item, so there's no guarantee that something bought will be more appreciated. I guess there's always that element of hoping for the best with these swaps. :) That's kind of why I made three partners... more of a chance of getting something you'll like.

Another thought/question: Does it have to be something to use or can it just be something decorative? I wouldn't mind if someone made an ATC or collage with 'my' letter, likewise I might make something purely decorative. Is that okay with everyone?

Do you guys want more time? I'm actually having difficulty finding what I want for my partners! But if the rest of you are okay, I'll just try harder. If you agree, however, I'll add 10 days or something. I think the holidays are busy for most people. Let me know! :) (If a couple of you say "ok", I'll bump the date.)

I actually feel kind of bad... this swap was my idea and it seems like you all outdid me! I don't know where you're finding all this neat stuff (I have to look harder next time, I guess) but it's so cool!

It really sucks not to get stuff... I can handle having one no send in a swap where you have a few partners... but when NONE of them send? :\

One of the swappers I sent to (Skillj) hasn't sent to her own partners. I already had KristinaO for this swap so either Ashley or the 3rd person who was suppose to receive from Skillj, contact me and I'll be more than happy to send you something for this swap. I'd rather pay for an extra package and have someone enjoy the swap than having someone take advantage of my generosity.

hi Sophie. Yes, I had skilj for my partner, and predictably nothing was sent. You are sweet to offer to send something, but it is unecessary. I was lucky to have two other partners who did send an were very good to me. Best, Ashley
