I live in southern Germany, but used to live in the UK for many years. I love to travel, especially in the United States. I'm passionate about books, languages, music, movies and animals.
I like things that are typical for my swap partner's region - and I love anything sparkly and glittery and stuff that glows in the dark ^_^
A few random things I love: The letter C and anything with my name on it, lipgloss, my guinea pigs, the smell of lavender, Dorothy Parker, Sanrio, linguistics, Ikea, lists, Miffy, charity shops/thrift stores, scented candles, Louisiana ♥, bath items in travel sizes, watermelons, bargain hunting, b/w photography, tiny stickers and sticker flakes, freebie samples, Edward Gorey, vinyl records, Doraemon, banana ice cream, the Pre-Raphaelites, getting to know other people's taste in music (in other words mix CDs/tapes), medieval art, Mary-Janes, roadtrips, deco tape and other stationary, my freckles.
My favourite colours are all the muted, dark tones. I love dark red (burgundy, aubergine, whatever you want to call it), dark green and dark blue. I also like orange and brown.
On my last vacation I decided to collect US quarters with those states that I have visited. Even though I have quite a few now, I'm still missing AL and AZ. If you're looking for a small extra for a swap with me, look no further... ;-)
A list of things I dislike: clowns, coffee, neon and pastel colours, orange & lemon peel, Diddl, black & white nail varnish (almost any other colour is fine!), wintergreen flavour, happy-clappy Christianity, black licorice, boiled cabbage. And Blythe dolls freak me out >_<
I don't have a mobile phone. Although I can use charms/dangly bits for my handbags, I can't use any other accessories. I don't own a digital camera either so I'd be grateful if my swap partner could take a photo before s/he sends off my things :-)
NEW FOR 2008: I have finally got a PC with a CD-writer so expect lots of mix CDs this year. YAY!
lo-fi - I love making mix tapes.
My favourite album is Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys and my favourite piece of music is Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.
My current guilty pleasure is listening to Radio CMT at work ^_^;
As I said, my other passion in life are books (comes from being a librarian, I guess). I collect different editions of Le Petit Prince. So far I have the book in French, German, English, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil), Czech, Armenian, Georgian and Dutch.
Amongst my favourite authors are Patricia Cornwell, Carl Hiaasen, Bill Bryson, Meg Cabot, Wendy Holden and Marian Keyes.
I also love languages - apart from German and English, I also speak French, Italian, Japanese and took Latin for 6 years in school. I'd love to learn Russian next. Or Portuguese. Or Hebrew.
Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Men in Trees, As Time Goes By, Frasier, The Closer, CSI:Horatio ^_^
Bringing up baby, Pixar, Marx Brothers, Ghibli
My favourite craft is cross-stitch. I prefer American designs (nothing too patriotic, please). I like Joan Elliott, TPS, Jeremiah Junction, L*K, Bent Creek, Margaret Sherry and other similar designers. I have a thing for Noah's Arks and love varigated and hand-dyed threads and fabrics of all colours (both Aida and evenweave).
I also dabble in paper crafts every now and then. I have been making my own envelopes for almost 20 years.
For my birthday in 2006 I got a sewing machine but only plucked up the courage to use it - and I adore it!!! Next on my list are bags and cushions.
I'm currently trying to get my Mum to re-teach me knitting and crochet. I learnt both in primary school, but have since forgotten :(
Does photography count as 'craft' as well? In that case, I bought a used Nikon F70 last year. I still shoot film - I'm very retro :-)
Despite I don't really eat spicy food, (moderate) Chili con Carne is my favourite comfort food.
When a restaurant has something with aubergine (that's eggplant) in it, I'll order it. No need to read the menu any further. Yum!
I love seafood and I love fruit, my favourites are cherries, melons, lemons, bananas, apricots, apples and any type of berries. I also like nuts, especially almonds, peanuts, Brazil nuts, pistachios, cashew nuts and coconuts. And anything with sesame (does that count as a nut?).
I love to cook and to bake, my favourites are roast vegetables, desserts & cakes.
NB: I am lactose-intolerant, so I'm afraid all foods that contain dairy products are off my list. Unfortunately, that includes chocolate ;_;
Orcas, panda bears & penguins - I've got a thing for black/white animals ^^;
Actually, I love most animals. As long as they haven't got more than four legs. My favourites are otters, birds/parrots (especially the kea), primates, marine mammals and dogs. Although I am neither a dog nor a cat person, I love both.
And of course I love my two adorable guinea pigs to bits, squeeeee ^_^
