About Me

I'm a mid-30s freelance writer and editor in Montreal. I'm also an avid crafter. I collect cobalt blue bottles, fabric, ribbon, stickers, vintage greeting cards, vintage linens, and just about anything cute and crafty. More loves: velvet, gerbera daisies, baskets, Mary Engelbreit, giraffes, C.S. Lewis, Jane Austen and funky scarves.

Favorite Crafts

baby quilts, patchwork and other small sewing projects; some paper crafts (cards, envelopes, wrapping)

Sadly, I don't knit or crochet, and I don't make ATCs.

Colours, patterns, styles

I adore crimson red, and also apple or grass green. Red and white gingham makes me swoon. Polka dots rock! I also like small florals, stripes, and 30s repro prints. I make a lot of baby quilts so cheery kids' prints appeal to me.

I don't like anything tropical, mystical (fairies, zodiac, etc.), psychedelic or abstract. I also don't like batiks, kawaii, 80s stuff, or anything with Santa, halloween, or oriental motifs.

Wish list

You will make me giddy and light-headed if you send me any of the following:

  • velvet or grosgrain ribbon or rickrack
  • Mary Engelbreit stuff (ANYTHING!)
  • 30s repro fabric (fat quarters or charm packs)
  • unique bright-coloured buttons
  • vintage sewing notions

Food and scent

I prefer not to receive anything scented or edible. However, I will make exceptions for peppermint candies or teas. :)

Yes, I did just get the package on our swap and I love it! On those tins, some people use them to make books, poetry pieces, shrines, or photo holders. Special holders for ATCs maybe? I don't think they even send out AOL tins anymore. Let me know what you do with them. ~deb

I just wanted to let you know that I received the handmade needlebook you made me for 'Crafty Pay it Back' and I really like it. It's cute and fun!! I have 4 children, from ages 11 weeks to 9 years, and I'm always taking them to lessons and fun of all sorts. I always bring a project to work on, but I have the hardest time keeping track of my needles-sometimes I find them the hard way-OUCH!
