Make a new friend. A penpal swap.
Swap Coordinator:VivaLaDiane (contact)
Swap categories: Letters & Writing
Number of people in swap:76
Location:International
Type:Type 2: Flat mail
Last day to signup/drop:September 28, 2013
Date items must be sent by:October 15, 2013
Number of swap partners:2
Description:

You will write or type a minimum 2 page letter to 2 partners.

Simple enough, right? In order to join, please have a full profile. When I say "full" an example would be to click my profile. More than just a few paragraphs. What you like, what you don't, what you'd like to know as you look at a partners profile.

I can't permit users in the swap with no information on your profile. It would not be fair for a partner to try to figure out what to write about.

If you do type the letter, try to make it interesting using pretty stationary, or different (yet readable) fonts, pictures, anything to make a good first letter to someone else.

This is a physically mailed swap. NO emails or sending this electronically. Written or typed and in an envelope with proper postage.

Proper postage means a stamp?

VivaLaDiane 09/16/2013 #

Proper postage would be a stamp or stamp(s) should it weigh more than the 1 ounce allotted.

The swap dates above are correct.

rachelw1 09/19/2013 #

how big are the pages?

VivaLaDiane 09/20/2013 #

They can be cute stationary around 5x7 size or standard 8x10 paper/stationary. Stationary is not required. Just referencing for an idea of size...

The postage doesn't have to be a proper stamp, does it? In my country, our stamp denominations are so small that I'd have to use about twenty stamps to send a letter internationally. I have to use the post office's sticker postage. ok?

VivaLaDiane 09/22/2013 #

No, the post office's sticker postage is fine. I wanted it to be abundantly clear that this swap is to be mailed. That's just my silly way of conveying that. ;)

I'd like to say that I am humbled that this swap is on the top swaps. I hosted this initially because several bad hosts were hosting pen pal swaps and I wanted to give good members some peace of mind knowing that I'd do everything I could to make a swap successful.

But the name of it "Make a New Friend" was a little tribute to my 4 year old nephew who ...everyone is his friend. He came to my house full of people he'd never met and said "DiDi, let's go meet all of my friends." He's never known a stranger and loves everyone... so this swap is very special to me.

Just wondering when the partners are going to be assigned....

VivaLaDiane 09/30/2013 #

A good host (like I am) goes through to make sure every participant is on the up and up so to speak so that a swap is as successful as possible. This is what I am doing but will have partners assigned sometime today.

mkstreet 09/30/2013 #

When you say "2 pages". Does that mean one piece of paper with both side (2 sides), or do you mean two pieces of paper (so the letter is four sides)?

Uhmm...Today is Columbus Day in the US. I dropped my stuff off at the post office on my way to work this morning and realized this evening that the post office is closed...I received no mail today...
