Description:

For this swap you will send one new or established deco to one partner.

Some guidelines:
* No homers/last page decos.
* Send something sturdy and nice.
* The person the deco is for (who it will return to) should be clearly noted on the front or back cover (or inside - as long as it's obvious!).
* Don't send someone a deco they've already done a page in.
* A deco should have a nice cover.
* Decos should have at least 3 pages folded to make 6 pages.
* Theme is sender's choice.
* You can send one or more additional decos as extras, but this is not required.
* Newbies are allowed with filled out profiles.

I believe no one should host swaps they aren't willing to angel themselves. I will angel if necessary, but I screen participants to minimize the risk of flakers getting in. I will remove participants with poor ratings, open swaps, drama, comments, or other swapping history that concerns me at my discretion. If you have negative swapping history and want to participate, please proactively PM me to explain. Otherwise, I may ban you with no notice if I am suspicious.

This swap is U.S. only on account of postage costs. If you want an international version, feel free to host your own. :)

According to the Swap-Bot Glossary:
A deco is similar to a friendship book and there are a wide variety of types. It is a bound book of pages which are sent around the world. The person that the book is “for” is usually listed on the cover and when the book becomes full it is sent back to them. Each person that receives and signs the deco will decorate one page according to the theme of the booklet (if there is one) and put their postal/email address and sign their name. Typically, each entrant in the “deco” must use one full page to express themselves. Glitter, sequins, feathers and other scrapbooking supplies are frequently used in “decos.” Despite the artistic expressions used in these types of friendship books, the basic rules of passing the friendship book to person to person is the same.

If you are new to decos, I can try and explain them better. I suggest PMing or commenting on my profile to get my attention faster, I forget to check swap page comments as often as I should!

Ok ... I want to try one of these, but I don't understand last page homers? I get the jist of it I THINK...

so the one I make goes to each person and then I get it back?

could someone please school me on these?

thank you paperplaysusan

I would join but many of the decos I get have the made for & by information inside the front cover instead of on the cover. And also many of the decos I get don't have 6 pages so that they will get full and be returned back home sooner.

I'm interested in decos but have never made any, though I've done many similar types of swaps and I do a lot of altered page art. I'm pretty sure I understand what needs to be done, but I have just a few questions. I'll be starting a new deco, and I have to decorate the front cover with my theme and write my address on the back cover, right? And each time it gets sent to someone they decorate only one side of a page, and not a two page spread correct? The requirement of the swap is that we send a deco to our partner only, and they will decorate it and send it out in another deco swap?

Are both sides of the page eventually decorated or does the back of a page reserved for the decoraters address and info?

I've never heard of decos, fb, or slam books until I joined swap-bot, so sorry for all the questions. All the info that I looked up about them is pretty disorganized and hard to follow.

@Joppagirl I didn't mean to exclude the inside of the cover... i rephrased it, hopefully that makes more sense.

@paperplaysusan homers are decos for which there is only one page remaining to fill in. So if I sent you a homer, you'd fill in the last page and send it back to the person it was made for. Does that make sense?

@Audio I'm messaging you!

I have some tiny notebooks about the size of the only FB and slam that I have ever received when someone sent them to me as an example. They did not give me an example of a "deco". These have a pre-decorated cover with the theme i want to use, and have 20 sheets, can I remove some of the paper, and use them? Can I make it for my nephew care of me? As they are coming back to us or the originator, we don't need to send these profile based?

@Transplanted1 to answer your questions:

A) I've never seen a deco that is NOT a handmade/decorated cover. This sounds like more of a slam book and would probably not be appropriate for this swap.

B) If you are making a new deco, you can make it for yourself, your nephew, or anyone. The important thing is to make it so the last signer knows where to send it.

C) You are correct that this is not profile-specific. I would recommend not sending anything on your partner's dislikes list, but because they are to be passed around it doesn't need to be customized to their profile or anything.

Is there a size limit for decos. I looked up how to make one but I want to make sure it's not too big or too small. I looked in the conversation above but don't see any reference.
