Send A Smile! #7 USA Only

EDITED!! 10-2-14

I am editing to reiterate the "send a smile" aspect of the swap. I have had complaints from previous participants that the swaps they have received have been ripped open with contents falling out do to improper packaging. Also that their partners are not even checking profiles. PLEASE send something your partner will LIKE! The object is to SEND A SMILE!! You want your partner to be excited and happy, not disappointed and feeling let down.

The senders choice aspect is not an excuse to send junk or crap! It means YOU get to choose what to send to bring a smile to their face. This is not meant to be an "expensive swap" but if you don't have anything to send, you might need to get some supplies to have on hand. I understand that not everyone likes the same things, but you can make an effort to make your partner happy. A little time and thought can go a long way!

Hope these changes insures the upcoming swap fun for all participants!

This swap is going to a weekly swap. If you don't have time to send on time, there will be another swap very soon!

I have seen a few swaps somewhat similar to this, but haven't seen one recently, so I created one.

This is a very easy and inexpensive swap. Newbie Friendly.

  • 1 One Partner

  • Send at least 3 different items, as close to 1 oz of flat items. This means it will cost 1 Forever Stamp to ship. You can send more, but one stamp is all that the swap requires.

  • Send your items in a Decorated envelope, (handmade, rubber stamped, stickers, doodled, washi tape, colorful writing, ect.) send something besides a plain envelope!

  • Senders Choice. This is senders choice, but you might have items your partner will love! Its always recommended to check your partners profile, try to send items they can use.

  • Send on time. Don't wait till the last minute to send. If you want to "send a smile" don't make your partner worry that you have forgotten about them.

  • You are trying to make your partner smile! Put some time and thought into it! :)

Suggestions of what you can send....

  • Postcards
  • Note cards
  • ATCs (Artist Trading Cards)
  • Project Life Cards
  • Stationery
  • Recipes
  • Smash book items
  • (Ephemera (book pages, maps, tickets, foreign languages, ect)
  • Used Postage Stamps, Or New :)
  • Washi Tape
  • Ribbons
  • Stickers
  • Stamped images
  • Die-cuts
  • Rub-ons

Don't send a envie with just 3 stickers, that will NOT make your partner smile. The items must be different, you can send stickers, and a postcard, and some washi tape. Mix it up, send a variety, send something to your partner, so that if you received it in the mail, it would make you smile!

The list is endless, you can send any flat items that you think your partner will like! When partners are assigned, check their profile for ideas!

3-D, or thicker items may require additional postage. Make sure it has the proper postage, and the envie is reinforced, if needed, so it can survive the trip.

Please don't send items that are dirty, torn or trash. Some people can be creative with all sorts of random items, don't rate down if you don't like the items, simply send them out in another swap. This is NOT an excuse to send junk. Send items that you think your partner can use!

This swap will be open to swappers with at least 4.98 or higher. Newbies welcome with a well filled out profile. I do check, You will be removed if you haven't filled it out before the swap closes. No unexplained 1s or 3s. I will angel if required, but flakers will not be allowed in any of my future swaps.

If you receive a decorated envie on time, with at least 3 different items, you should rate a 5. Hearts are always optional. Please play nice.

If you have any questions, please post them below or send me a message. Have fun and happy swapping!

Hope all who join will have profiles that give an idea of their likes. Some profiles are very sparse.

LoveToCraftInAZ 10/25/2014 #

Newbies must have started filling out their profiles of likes and things they are interested in, or I will ban them prior to assigning partners. Since this is a flat, single stamp swap, not much will fit in the envelope. I would totally agree if the swap were a package swap and would require an extensive "like" list on their profile, and no newbies. Most newbies add to their profile as they learn the ropes, I know I did.

Finally, a swap where I can trade something! Many posts don't allow unrated users, but that leaves me with little opportunity to raise my rating... I'm excited about my partner, and will do the best I can to make this an awesome swap :)

LoveToCraftInAZ 10/26/2014 #

Thanks for the nice comment! I remember being a "newbie." I wanted the opportunity to prove myself to everyone! We all had to start somewhere. Happy to have you join my swap! :)

Crazipurplelady 10/26/2014 #

I agree, I like to give everyone a fair chance, even a newbie's should be able to try. But, that being said, EVERYONE should play fair and try to send something the receiver would like. I always check the profile, even for senders choice!

LoveToCraftInAZ 10/26/2014 #

Yes, everyone should play fair and be nice. Its supposed to be fun for the sender and the recipient. Its a good habit to check profiles for EVERY swap you join! Its just good manners! :)

KarenLaneWV 10/26/2014 #

Checking profiles usually gives me ideas that I wouldn't have come up with otherwise! I always enjoy reading profiles of people in swaps.

LoveToCraftInAZ 10/26/2014 #

I enjoy reading them too. It makes the swap so much more personal when you "know" a bit more about the person you are sending to. :)

"Noob" here...how/when are we assigned a swap partner?

Cuppycakes123 10/27/2014 #

@mleerobb we are assigned a partner the day after the sign up deadline. You can find your swap partners by going to your dashboard, clicking on the swap and click on 'see the partners you send to' in the upper right hand corner.

LoveToCraftInAZ 10/27/2014 #

Thanks @Cuppycakes123 for answering her question. Was volunteering this am, I don't have my phone with me.

@mleerobb I can't assign partners till around midnight on the last date to sign-up. I check participants as they sign up and keep an eye on them, that way I can assign partners right away. Swap bot will actually send you an email letting you know its time to swap. Then as @Cuppycakes123 mentioned you can find the link on the right at the very top. Have a great time swapping! :)

Thanks ladies! Found my giftee and sent my package today! By the way, I love the send a smile swap idea. How fun!

LoveToCraftInAZ 10/28/2014 #

Happy we could help! I am glad you like the swap. I think the world could use more smiling faces! :)

ginny19590 10/29/2014 #

I have a question, so if you recommend that everyone check their partners profile for ideas, at least their dislikes list, is that considered a requirement? I don't have a huge dislikes list but I have had some really not so thoughtful partners lately. Some have sent items from my dislikes list, that have really bothered me. I always try to pay attention to my partners profile and I'd really appreciate the same consideration.

ladydy5 10/30/2014 #

Its always fun to know you sent someone something they collect or do in crafting. In an envelope you can send a postcard if that is what they like or things for a journal because she likes to make them, even used stamps or AZtC things. You only find that out by looking at a profile that is fully filled out. Scarcely filled out means just no hint at all. Don't you like to send something they would like if possible? If senders choice, then that's a whole other situation, send anything but I will check profile first, that's just me.

creativefashionista1 10/31/2014 #

How do I mark my envelope as sent? I feel like this should be easy but I can't seem to find swaps I'm in that have already started. Thanks!

LoveToCraftInAZ 11/ 1/2014 #

@ginny19590 I can understand your frustration. The idea is to send your partner a SMILE, I am sorry that your partners havent been doing that. I have tried to write the rules clear enough, so they see a "Smile" is the point of the swap. Sadly, I can't help what people take out of it. I don't want it to be Profile Based, as for newbies and for long time swappers that can be a bit overwhelming. Please send me a private message with more detail. If they continue to disregard the Smile aspect and dislike list, I will message them directly. I will add more into the rules for the next swap. Hope that helps.

LoveToCraftInAZ 11/ 1/2014 #

@ladydy5 I do recommend always checking profiles. I agree, I want people to send items that others can use. I know when I started out, I didn't have a long profile as I didn't know what to say. Over time, as I have swapped, I have added to it. I want newbies to get a chance to learn the ropes. As an experienced swapper, we can really show them what a good swap can be. We get to be creative and can send a swap that they maybe didn't even now had things they would like in it. I had never even heard of a decorated Matchbox until someone sent me one. I would have never put it on my likes list, as I didn't know I liked them yet. There are lots of swaps for people with very well filled out profiles. I do check profiles, and banned one that was empty, as they didn't respond to my request to fill it out.

LoveToCraftInAZ 11/ 1/2014 #

@creativefashionista1 There is a link at the top of this swap on the right. It's above the "See you Partners you send to." It will say "Click here once you have sent your items." Check your "Dashboard" to find your current swaps, in the "sent" swaps it will have the ones you have sent but are waiting to receive. PM me if you have any more trouble. :)
