Description:

This is a version of a USA public swap run by tlemon4 who kindly gave me permission to use the idea (which she says she originally found on another site!)

For this swap, make a nine pocket pocket letter.

Each pocket must be decorated for a different holiday.

I'm suggesting: :

  • 1 New Year's

  • 2 Valentine's Day

  • 3 Chinese New Year

  • 4 Mardi Gras

  • 5 Easter

  • 6 Halloween

  • 7 Either Thanksgiving or Guy Fawkes Night or another autumn holiday from your own country

  • 8 Christmas

  • 9 Your birthday -- put this in wherever it fits in the calendar

Now these are just suggestions. Feel free to substitute holidays from your own country or religion or culture for some of mine. If, for example, you are Jewish, then drop Easter and decorate a pocket for Passover. As long as you have nine decorated pockets, each one decorated for a different holiday, you've got it right!

One pocket should include a letter. In that letter, tell your partner the 9 holidays you have chosen to represent. If you think they might not be familiar with some of them, then tell them about them.

Each of the other pockets should include a little goodie for your partner. As far as you can, it would be fun to try to link the gifts with the holiday -- heart-shaped buttons for Valentine's Day or Christmas stamps for Christmas and so on. I realise though that it might be difficult to do that with all the holidays, so just do the best you can.

Remember -- your aim is to delight your partner! Put effort into your decorations and choose wee gifts that will totally make their day! While this is sender's choice, you have the best chance of making your partner happy if you read their profile. No point in sending stamps to someone who doesn't want them!

You don't have to decorate the backs but you can if you want to. Otherwise, it's nice to add a sheet of coloured or patterned paper to each one.

If you have any questions or concerns, PM me or leave a comment below. I check my messages daily but probably check my swaps only every few days so messaging is often quicker.

I don't expect any one in this group to flake. Should it happen, however, I will angel after all courses of action are exhausted and a one (1) rating is given. .

I'm giving this quite a long sign-up time and then sending time because I'm going to be away for much of October. It's sender's choice so you can get started on your decorations straightaway if you want.

Have fun!

This just sounds fun! :-)

Mardi Grass, Thanksgiving and some others are really unknown in Hungary(and Europe), but I'd like to do this...may I can decorate a pocket with our national holiday? Halloween is getting to be popular here, so that one is fun too :)

Absolutely ktina -- part of the fun will be seeing each other's national holidays!
