Description:

I have noticed that as a knitter, I have a little bit of an obsession with sheep. Not just their fuzzy outer covering, but the actual animal. I know I am not the only one that feels this way. Ever go to a knitters house and find sheep shaped soap, lamb pez dispensers, and knitting accessories with sheep on them? So my idea is that we support these feelings with a little Knittin' Sheep Shwap.

For this swap, you will need to send:

-One skein of yarn (at least 100 yards) that is 100% wool, send yarn that you would want for yourself :) Post color likes and dislikes for your partners, please.

-One sheep item. Anything that has a sheep on it or is in the shape of a sheep. Use your imagination.

This swap is international and is open to all swappers who have a rating of 4 or higher.

Please see my profile for colours. Thx!

I think that sounds OK. Other swappers - let me know if you would have a problem with sending pigs instead of sheep if you were assigned Gina.

yarnpie 02/ 7/2007 #

Ok, sorry Gina, thanks for understanding. I do think Tassy makes a good point.

yarnpie 02/ 7/2007 #

Gina, One other solution I was thinking about would be for you to join the swap and you could ask that your partner send something with a pig on it, and if they don't want to or can't, you might end up with a sheep thing, but you would still get the yarn.

I wanted to change it because I want you to join, but I don't think I can make someone go outside of the swap stipulations.

Thanks!

yarnpie 02/ 8/2007 #

Just so everyone knows, I am not changing my swap parameters. It's staying the same as it was originally. I do think that it is OK that someone requests something a special way, "like I hate this color, please don't send me yarn that color." It is up to that swaps partner to decide if they want to listen to their partners request. When it's all said and done, you can't rate somebody badly because they didn't send you the color you wanted, only if they didn't send you yarn at all. So everyone, thanks for all the comments and please be assured that the swap is staying the way it was originally written. Thank you and happy swappin' to all! :)

I love wool so this swap will be great! I feel the same way about sheep. It's a shame that they stink under normal conditions. I am really into red and lime green feltable wool. I also enjoy roving.

Joanne: You say to send one sheep item and to "Use your imagination". Does this mean that the item has to be handmade?

yarnpie 02/24/2007 #

Tassy: Personally, I love handmade things, so I think it would be really nice to send something handmade. But really, what I meant by use you imagination was that it could be anything (I like lots of options). It's nice if it serves double duty like a sheep shaped measuring tape or a knitting journal with a sheep on it. But really, I'd like people to send something that they would really like to receive, that way everyone gets super awesome packages. Thanks!

TerryF 02/24/2007 #

Thanks Joanne.

Ive already bought the sheep item in Sweden last weekend. Its so cute and I regrett not buying one for myself too, but this one is for my swapper. :) Hope she`ll find it as cute as I do.

yarnpie 03/ 2/2007 #

You got the right idea, articgirl64 :)

jannikinz 03/ 4/2007 #

favourite colours are..blue/pink/purple..or mixed..I'm in for a surprise too.

Linuxwitch 03/ 6/2007 #

Is handspun yarn acceptable?

yarnpie 03/ 6/2007 #

Linuxwitch: Yes, yes, yes! :) Handspun yarn is more than acceptable! It is desirable! As long as the yarn is 100% wool, it is welcome :)

Linuxwitch 03/ 6/2007 #

Awesome! 100% wool is NOT a problem. LOL

Cloverst 03/10/2007 #

Ta Joanne for letting me join in! I love any colours. No, honest any. :D

honeybknits 03/10/2007 #

I like any colors but I really like texture! I would like to get some thick and thin wool or some beaded or embellished wool. I don't get many choices up here in AK so I always drool over these things. :)

moniqued 03/14/2007 #

This is a great swap! I love colours such as pink, purple, blue and orange.

michellelliott 03/18/2007 #

If a spinner gets my name, you are more than welcome to send handspun to me:)

sparkyanderson 03/19/2007 #

I love sheep, I don't knit but i make these adorable sheep using wool. I would love wool that is sheep colored so i can make more. Somehow pink sheep wouldn't look right. Look forward to swapping.

FunToScrap 03/28/2007 #

I would like shades of plum, eggplant, deep purples. I also love texture, the nubby yarns or thick thin yarns are my favorites. Any variegated yarn in any color combination is fine with me.
