Immense Gratitude goes out to Shaman and Educator, Malidoma Patrice Some who's teachings inspired this project.

Give one thing away each day for 29 days and change lives, one gift at a time . . . . .

Why? Because to see the world change, we have to do something to change the world. Plus, the best way to attract abundance into your life is to be in a perpetual state of giving and gratitude. Be an important part of the global giving movement that inspires more generosity on our planet.

The 29-Day Giving Challenge originated as an African ritual, I suspect created for the Western world. Many of us have little concept of scarcity as known in many African countries. However, even when we have so much, we can still live in the scarcity of not having enough or being enough. This message is received in the Western world on a daily basis.

WHY 29 days? According to scientific researchers, it takes approximately 21 days to build a habit - so 29 days seems like a safe bet to create a giving habit!

Giving of any kind... taking an action... begins the process of change, and moves us to remember that we are part of a much greater universe.

Your 29 gifts can be anything... money, food, old sweaters, smiles, your time, kind words or thoughts.

The Challenge is intended to be a sacred ritual—it is your opportunity to cultivate a mindful practice of stepping outside your own story for a few seconds each day by serving others.

Don’t quit. If you have a day that you feel unmotivated to give, it’s ok. Just go for the simple give. Call a friend and give some kind words. Write someone a nice note. Or exchange smiles with a stranger. Every give doesn't need to be monumental. You might even notice that the “simple gives” feel more powerful than the grand gestures.

If you forget your give one day, be gentle with yourself. This ritual is about progress, not perfection. Sit down and quietly reflect on your day. Review the entire day mindfully and find the times you unconsciously gave so you can bring it into your consciousness.

Don’t forget that there is never a day that you don't give. There are only days that you don't acknowledge and remember you did.

Enjoy your 29 days. And remember to stay open to receiving. Giving can't happen without the receptors of our gifts. Good giving to you today.

To complete the Challenge, you will share a story about the impact it made on your life to focus on giving for 29 days. Your story can be told with written word, short film, recorded spoken word, song or visual art or whatever medium you choose.

You can also download a Giving Calendar at: http://29gifts.org/origins.html. As well as, share your calendar with your swap partner.

You will have 1 swap partner and this will be an international swap. Let's start a world-wide revolution!!!!!!

Newbies with a completed profile accepted and others with at least a 4.5 rating are accepted.

Just thought I'd share my simple GIFT I gave for the first day. I work a part-time job for the holidays in a store call center taking orders. I went the extra mile yesterday to help a customer find something she was looking for but did not know the name of the item. I continued to research on my own & ended up calling her back to share the info with her . .she was SO thrilled that someone actually took their time to help her.

MY gift back was a out of the blue phone call from a new out-of-town friend who happened to be in town and took the extra effort to search me out and let me know that she was glad that I had come into her life.

Both simple but awesome blessings!!!

Did you know that November..10th-18th......is World Kindness Week? What a wonderful opportunity to do some random acts of kindness . This is a powerful way to cultivate tools you need to counteract the stress and worry in the world.

We give of ourselves when we give gifts of the heart: love, kindness, joy, understanding, sympathy, tolerance, forgiveness.

We give of ourselves when we give gifts of the mind: ideas, dreams, purposes, ideals, principles, plans, inventions, projects, poetry.

We give of ourselves when we give gifts of the spirit prayer, vision, beauty, aspiration, peace, faith.

We give of ourselves when we give the gift of words: encouragement, inspiration, guidance.

Emerson said it well: "Rings and jewels are not gifts, but apologies for gifts.

The only true gift is a portion of thyself."
