Hi. I'm not sure I understand this bit: "Washi is senders choice but please read your partners profile for likes and dislikes."

Is it sender's choice? OR do we need to consider likes and dislikes? To me, those are two different things...

If it's sender's choice, there's no reason to read for likes and dislikes. Please clarify. Thanks.

Looking doesn't mean that you HAVE to send only what they say they like but if they say "Spiders and owls give me nightmares" you might want to send something else like cats and flowers. Thanks.

Yes, as fabriqueen said. I have a massive phobia of snakes and if someone sends me snake washi I might not give a heart and if I like french themes and you send me something with french script I will most likely give a heart. You might have something in your stash that you know your partner might love, if you have a big stash.

Simply put, be mindful of your partners preferences. If you want you may send whatever you choose but whether your partner likes it or it just meets requirements is two different things. If you only have 4 washi and that is all you can send samples from then you meet the requirements.

I hope this clears it up for you

Personally I think reading your partners profile should always be a requirement as it would avoid A LOT of disappointment, I cannot tell you how many times I have received Christmas stuff when I am muslim for like sticker and notepaper swaps which could have easily been substituted.

Sorry to play devil's advocate, but it's still wishywashy. Either you have to take your partner's preferences into account, or it's sender's choice. It can't be both. :( They are mutually exclusive.

Personally, I always check and try to fit swaps to profiles... and then people send me pink things. Which I hate. Which leads me to usually only join 'profile-based', or 'check for preferences', or 'avoid dislikes' swaps. But if I can't tell what the actual rules are for a swap... hard to decide to join or not. :/

"Personally I think reading your partners profile should always be a requirement as it would avoid A LOT of disappointment..."

I agree with nasreen. I always at least look through my partner's profile completely once, even if the swap is sender's choice. It takes maybe five minutes, max, and I don't really see the point in people taking time to make these lovely and detailed profiles if their mail partners aren't going to even glance through their preferences.

I also don't think that sender's choice and looking at your partner's profile/taking preferences into account are mutually exclusive. For example, my partner's profile might say that they hate purple, hate spiders, love blue and green shades, love cupcake themes and love cats. I might have washi tape that would fulfill a few of those preferences, but not all. I could take into account the preferences I could fulfill but still use sender's choice for the rest while avoiding the things the person's profile specifically says s/he hates.

When I join a swap that is senders choice I always read through my partner's profile. It feels good to know that you can send them something that's on their 'likes' list… Something that will make them smile when they open it. I am always thrilled to see that someone took the time to read through my profile, and then sent something that they felt would put a smile on my face. 🙂 I always try for a ♥️ with every swap I join. I HATE glitter, as noted in my profile, but someone sent me a package once and I was glitter- bombed when I opened it.

When I write a swap I usually say "please avoid your partners dislikes." I have a few colors I hate, dislike creepy crawlers and also don't celebrate most traditional holidays. So I totally get it. But I agree that saying its sender's choice and read your partner's profile for both likes and dislikes could be confusing

The part I don't understand is no 'decorative tape'. Isn't that exactly what washi tape is? Are you talking about the duck tape that comes in decorative colors or the packing tape with patterns? That I can understand not sending as those aren't washi tapes by nature, but no decorative tapes? You mean only send regular washi tape, normal size, no solid colors and no glitter tapes, right?

nasreen 09/ 7/2016 #

Decorative tape is usually the plastic type variety. Washi tape should be more papery like masking tape andneasy to tear with your hands without a scissors.

please note

I check the sign up list everyday and have messaged a few people to give them time to clear up or address any issues I may have. If these issues are not resolved by the sign up date then I will ban at my discretion.

Please read the swap requirements and make sure you understand the requirements before signing up. If you have any questions or suggstions please feel free to contact me.

In North America, decorative can be found in the dollar stores. I find craft stores have better quality tape, or online as well.

thebragal 09/10/2016 #

Deco tape is usually shiny too and while washi may have a bit of a sheen, it's never really glossy like deco tape.

Hello! Sorry to be a dweeb, but I'm not sure what 1s or 3s means? I don't know if that's me, so please tell me if it is 😊

Toxicash666 - it means no 1 or 3 ratings. Those are bad ratings
