What's Galentine's Day? It's a holiday Amy Poehler's Parks and Rec character Leslie Knope created that occurs every year on February 13th, the day before Valentine's Day.

"Oh it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style."

In the spirit of Galentine's Day, create mail art dedicated to or inspired by a fierce, notable lady you admire. While Mom is certainly a great lady, this is geared more towards famous ladies: Amy Poehler, for example. Or Oprah, Sandra Day O'Connor, Patti Smith, Georgia O`Keeffe, Amal Clooney, Dorothea Dix, Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, Nellie Bly, Amanda Palmer, Gloria Steinem, Annie Oakley, Frida Kahlo, Eleanor Roosevelt, Shirley Chisholm, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Toni Morrison, Michelle Obama, Sally Ride, Carrie Fisher...you get the picture.

The mail art you create can be a handmade postcard sent naked or something smaller sent in an arted up envelope (a zine, ATC, bookmark, stickers, etc.) - any medium goes as long as it's an original, by-you creation.

Just a happy FYI . . . This February 13th will be the birthday of my 5th grandchild and the first girl. Her name will be Alice. I can't wait to meet her <3

Unless, of course, my daughter goes into labor before then, which is what she's ardently hoping right now.

It's my birthday on teh 13th. :) Not a Friday this year though, alas. I blame the proximity to V-day for my hatred of pink.
