MLU: Mermaid Story ZINE INT'L

Almost every coastal city has a mermaid story. I don’t mean the myth and legend kind but the “this is what happened and this is why we have a mermaid” kind of story. Texas has two stories and they aren’t even on the coast!! One is in San Antonio and one is in Salado right in between Austin and Dallas. For this mermaid zine, I want a mermaid story or legend that is specific to a town or country. Please, no “Little Mermaid”. I think I have enough of those. So far, I have collected the two mermaid stories from Texas and one from Trinidad. You can even create your own legend as long as it is place specific! For example, pick a body of water near you that has significance and create a new legend about a mermaid. Illustrate your legend and make a zine about it. Your zine needs to be in full color and you will send a copy to each of your partners. This should be a fun swap! Be creative. Drawing skills don’t matter. You can use magazine cut outs to illustrate your story. I would like to send to six partners. If we don’t get 6 partners by the time we assign partners, then we will send to who ever signs up. I hope you actually have a mermaid story where you live and would love to read about them!

You will create a traditional zine from an 8.5x11 inch piece of paper. There are many tutorials on how to fold one. Just look one up or message me and I can make a link.

since they dont weigh too much, I'm making it an international swap. It also allows for more story possiblities!
