Description:

Firstly, What is an ATC? from Wikipedia : Artist trading cards (ATCs) is a conceptual art project initiated by the Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann in 1997. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance.

We will be trading AND creating

Artist trading cards are 2 1⁄2 by 3 1⁄2 inches (64 mm × 89 mm) in size, the same format as modern trading cards (hockey cards or baseball cards). They are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate exchanges.

That being said (and there’s more online, have a look). Let’s try this out.

The basics...

You'll need a piece of suitable material, 2½ by 3½ inches (64 mm x 89 mm) in size. It may be in either portrait or landscape orientation, and the corners can be either rounded or unrounded; it's purely a matter of personal preference. It's usual to use cardstock, but you could even use playing cards, if they are the right size. Make it sturdy.

Whatever you use has to be fairly flat; although artist trading cards may include three-dimensional elements like buttons and charms, most swap groups insist that they are thin enough to fit in a standard trading card sleeve.

This video might help you here

This will be sender’s choice. You can pick out your own theme. You can use your own supplies (watercolor, acrylic paints, clippings, stickers, ink. Basically anything goes. But put in your best effort. There are many many many ideas out there. This will be a type 3 for the craft element. Please put the atc in a protective sleeve of some kind.

On the back write your name, the name of this swap and the date. Options are to title your creation or number it , as it might be from a series.

Should there be any questions, please message me. I don’t know if I have explained it correctly. Pinterest is also full of ideas, they are so much fun to make! Atc’s are light and therefore easy to send.

We will take our time with this swap. Go ahead and get started! Blessings!

I have a question. What is the core theme for the ATC, what is the actual ATC to be consisting of rather than how to make one? What elements would you want the maker to include. Arch Angel Michael? Hands in Prayer? I hope this doesn't sound too rude or tactless,,, you are very brave in taking on a job like this. It might be worth focusing on the topic rather than how to make an ATC. We all make this misnoma when starting as hosts, as I assume you are new to swapbot, we most of us know what they are but thank you for redefining them, as you have kindly put all the info here aswell, it is listed in the FAQ of swapbot too.
