Description:

I got this idea from another awesome swapper on this site, "weeatcrayons". The one that she is hosting is for people that have 50 swaps or more.

This one is for people that have 10 swaps or more.

This will be a little challenging! Take a mini composition notebook (you can get them at most stores for around $1 or under) and you'll art it up!

Every page should have some form of art. Whether you're drawing, collaging, inking, glitter, embellishing, photographs, fabric etc. Make it nice, make it something you would be ecstatic to receive. Make it so that none of the paper/cover still shows. The above picture shows what an art journal is. Hopefully this will be something that someone will want to sit down with repeatedly to look at for hours. If it doesn't close well, that's fine, the fuller the better.

This is a "heart" journal, so include stuff about hearts and love. Try something different on each page. One page can be bright and colorful, another can be dark and gothic, another can be about heart break. This can be a visual autobiography of all the loves that have passed through your life... boyfriends, moms, dads, best friends, animals, famous people or actors... anything you want to express love about. This is a chance to express yourself, not just with only words but with art! You don't have to be a great artist to create an art journal, whatever inspires you, what you're heart feels, EXPRESS IT!!

I'm going to give you 2 months to get this done. Maybe a page a day?! Google art journals if you need to see. Please be aware when signing up that this will be a time consuming swap. If you cannot complete this in time, please do not sign up. I do not want any flakage going on, the requirements are steep!

Requirements:

Ò€’4.5 rating or higher Ò€’10 rated and completed TYPE 3 Package swaps Ò€’No no sends in the past few months Ò€’I reserve the right to ban as I see fit.

Remember...this is for the mini composition notebooks! The Mead ones are 4-1/2" x 3-1/2" and contain 80 ruled sheets. Please Anything close to that would be appropriate. I have found that they are hard to find if it's not close to the beginning of school. Please find something close to that size and at least 40 pages if not more. Decorate both the front and back and inner covers as well as each page front and back!

Those mini comp/ books usually fall apart quickly. Can we use some other mini or pocket sized notebook?

If you shop around you can find mini comp books with sewn-in pages that hold up a lot better than the ones with the glued-in pages. Just a suggestion. :)

Since I love scrapbooking this is the swap for me.

An Art Journal is very different from a scrapbook.

Anything that has at least 40 pages or more to decorate front and back would be fine. And approximately 4 1/2 by 3 1/2. I agree with mousepoo that this is "mostly" and art journal. You should try really hard to paint/draw most of the pages. Scrapbooking techniques can be used in conjunction with the art but only to bring out the art that is most of the picture, words to bring feeling, embellishments to make them "pop"!. This is a swap for more of the newbie's since the other one listed on this site is more for experienced swappers. Please everyone understand that people will be experimenting with new techniques and learning from each other from this swap. I hope that people will feel comfortable with each other after this to PM and ask how they did techniques that are interesting so that they can do more fun things on other swaps. If you want something for more experienced swapers, "weeatcrayons" has one for you.

Okay, I am editing my above comment. This is open to all forms of art. It is for people to embellish anyway they want. If they want to express themselves through scrapbooking styles and layering lots of stuff in it, that is great. I want this to be open to creativity...so have fun creating.

Mantia and Mom2Alex, I think it's fine to use whatever journal you can find that will work for you. I don't want to limit people too much in this swap. Anything that is around 40 pages will be fine.

I just LOVE this idea.

Red, are we allowed to add writing to our art journal as well? I know that it is visually focused, I just wanted to know if some writing is alright.

I've started mine, I kinda wanted to see how long it would take to fill up one of those mini's. They have a whole lot of pages and I've never painted before, so I'm thinking I'd like to try that as well.

I'm new to the world of art, I've just lived on the fringes my whole life. I love this idea, I am worried I won't do it justice. {I'm not terribly creative, I have to find ideas}

If you happen to have a Family Dollar near you. That is where I find all my mini comp books. I make art books and get to know me little books from them. I also cover them or alter the outside and give them to friends to keep their list of to do's in it.

I've gotten at least 30 from there in the past month. so don't forget to check it out if you have one of those stores near you.
