Description:

Round one is in the works, so time for Round 2!

This swap (Round 2) is open to beginners, since it's a simple block based on the 9-patch, with triangles combining to make four of the squares.

You will make one two-colored block for one partner, and I suggest that the stars all be make of a light colored fabric for the traditional overall look of this block in a quilt. Your partner may have a preference for the other way around--just ask! The colors are sender's choice, but we can put our dislikes below in the comments, and/or in our profiles, so be sure to check there before making your block.

Use 100% cotton quilt-quality fabrics--don't finish the block, it's meant to be sewn in with others to make a finished top or other item, so no batting or backing either.

for color A (the dark) you'll need four 4.5" (11.5cm) squares and two 5" (12.2cm) squares (for the triangles)

for color B (the stars) you'll need one 4.5" (11.5cm) square, and two 5" (12.2cm) squares

*double check the conversion here--I'm using an old school ruler with US and metric markings

I've made the swap International because I fit one similar block into a greeting card envelope with a zip-loc bag and it went as 1oz first class--not too expensive across the sea--though a good bit of packing tape to make it sturdy (or a tyvek envelope) may help it survive the shipping.

One helpful hint--be aware of which way the triangles are pointing when you assemble the block. They should all point clockwise as in the picture (or at least all in the same direction!).

Swap-bot Newbies are welcome with full profiles--favorite colors, themes, etc.

Rated swappers must have at least 4.9 and no recent no-sends--contact me if you think you have been rated unfairly--I will ban questionable swappers--Flakers stink!

PM me with any questions, or if you catch a typo or something I've missed!

I would love for my star to be any kind of white fabric. The background can be any color! :)

sandllr 02/ 1/2010 #

I love mauves and light sage greens... :)

I'd be happy with any rich jeweltone prints for the background--cranberry/wine, forest green or emerald green, dark chocolate brown, royal purple, but especially cobalt blue and a complimentary light (white based) print fabric for the star. Asian prints in those colors with nature elements and touches of gold and silver are wonderful, too.

I would like my block to be in a child novelty print, for boys. Something like pirates, animals, space, super hero that kind of thing. If that's not possible then bright primary colours please =)

PATHACKER 02/14/2010 #

i love mauves and pinks or shades of purple

I really like thimbleberries and civil war reprints. These are usuallyl burgundy, green, gold cream, brown and blues and purples. Please if possible no novelty prints. Thanks a bunch.

If possible, I'd love for the star to be solid white, with the background a modern print of your choice. No novelty prints. Thanks!

I'm not picky! I really enjoy bright, bold colors, or neutral earth tones. I typically pick out of the modern print section, but sometimes like to venture to the more classic prints, but most of all, I like to be surprised!

Partners are assigned--I regret having had to drop two people, but communication is a very important part of Swap-bot and I hadn't heard from you, so didn't want to take a chance that you might not be coming back--PM me if you want to do a private swap to catch up.

Happy Sewing/Swapping Everyone!
