I am a VERY prompt and reliable swapper! Please let me know if you have not recieved from me and I will make it right! I also ALWAYS rate, usually as soon as I get it. If somehow I have missed rating you...it is totally unintentional....send me a PM and I will rate you right away!
I live In Texas, work full time running the Pre-School my husband and I own. I love quilting, applique, embroidery and books. I have traded fabric postcards and a few mini quilts.
I am a mother and a grandmother and we had 3 new g-babies born in 2009 so I am in baby heaven and making baby blankets, toys, dolls and doll quilts.
I also write, I've been working on a novel for years. I write children's poetry and I plan to start another blog for that soon.
We have two dogs, an "Old Man" black and white Cocker Spaniel named Sam and a HUGE (90 lbs) Boxer named General Patton. He will be 1 year old October 15th and he thinks he still weighs 20 pounds and should be a lap dog.
I am collecting 30's prints for an upcomng quilt and also collecting flannels for lap quilts my children think they "need"! (Not wanting kiddie-print flannels but florals and plaids.)
I am also working (slowly) on a pattern that was featured in McCalls Quilting Magazine called "A Quiet Village" it is an Italian village scene. I have most of the applique done and now I am embroidering details on it.
I also love to make dolls (rag and baby doll types) but I'm not into primitive.
I like all kinds of music, classical, easy listening, country, top 40....all kinds except Rap! Or any song with bad grammar in it! :-) I am an educator an I hate it when a song uses bad or incorrect grammar...I have to change the words to be able to sing along with it! :-)
I am a huge book collector and we have a large library (larger than my sewing room even! :-) I collect signed editions. I love children's books, children's poetry and anything having to do with Beatrix Potter. My two favorite authors are Beverly Cleary (the Henry and Ramona series) and Carolyn Haywood (old Betsy books).
I belong to BookMooch which is an awesome book trading group...check them out at www.bookmooch.com.
Hmmm.....I'm not really into much television. I like some of the news shows: used to like 20/20 and Dateline and 60 minutes but too often these days they are trying to be like CSI and all they cover is murder. I'll watch whatever my husband is watching as long as I have some hand work to do! :-)
I love blue and white, blue and yellow. The biggest piles in my stash are pink, green and blue, those are my favorites. I had to MAKE myself buy some orange for a quilt recently! Ha-Ha!
I love black and white prints too and simple white or off white fabrics with a little print and of good quality to use for embroidery projects. I am in love with embroidery floss! I love trying different brands of floss. Oh and cream colored fabric...for some reason I love it. I love fabric with leaves, vines and swirls and I put leaves and swirling vines on many of my quilts. So many that my leaf templates are worn out! I love ric rac, all colors and all sizes.
I really don't need batiks or hand-dyed fabrics, I have a ton!
I'm always interested in cute or vintage-looking buttons, lace or crocheted doilies. And anything you can use to make dolls or doll patterns. (I'm not into the Dottee dolls or primitives though, sorry.) I love and collect anything having to do with Peter Rabbit and the other Beatrix Potter characters.
I like stickers, cutesy ones (not Disney or cartoon characters though) and floral ones. Pretty envelopes or stationary, note cards. Cute sticky notes.
We always use cloth shopping bags and I love getting new interesting ones or those from other countries.
I also collect sand castles. Well replicas of them anyway!. Ha-Ha, please don't send me a box of sand!
I also adore black rocks with white lines around them....go figure! But how easy is that...here is a swap partner that you could just send a rock to and she would be happy! :-)
P.S. I am not a coffee drinker and I dislike coffee flavored anything. :-p
I have a group Blog for quilters and other fiber artists and we are currently accepting new members. If you have thought about having a blog but didn't want the hassle of maintaining it or didn't think you would post enough to make it worthwhile....then consider joining our group blog. There is no cost or obligation and we aren't selling anything! Just fiber artists joined in cyber space for encouragement, ideas and fun! Check us out at:
