Description:

This is the second of two first swaps I'm hosting on Swap-bot. I've participated as a swapper since 2007, but have never hosted a swap. So, I ask that you be patient with me, and ask any questions you may have so I can clarify anything that may be unclear.

This swap is motivated by the "Seven Wonders of the World." I googled this topic on the Internet I found many other varied versions of this topic. When I explored these variations I found some wonderful places that I thought my fellow swappers would like to creaate Skinnies about these places. In each swap we do, we will complete 7 Skinnies.

NOW TO THE NITTY GRITTY:

  1. This will be a long term swap, about 11 months.
  2. You will have 1 partner.
  3. You will make 1 Skinny about each place, 7 total.
  4. On the back of the Skinny, please include Your name, date, number (___/70) and artist(you).
  5. On the front of the Skinny, include what is necessary to depict the place and share about the place. Just slapping on a picture and the name of the place is not acceptable.

Here are the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World we will be creating a Skinny Set for in this swap.

  1. Great Pyramid of Giza
  2. Hanging Gardens of Babylon
  3. Statue of Zeus at Olympia
  4. Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
  5. Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus
  6. Colossus of Rhodes
  7. Lighthouse of Alexandria

RULES TO PARTICIPATE:

  1. You must have at least a 4.8 rating.
  2. No unexpained 1s or 3s in last 6 months
  3. You must have at least 15 Type 3 projects completed.
  4. This is a long term project, so I expect those swappers that are willing to do quality work and be on time with mailing out their swaps.
  5. If you are going to be late in getting your swap out, please make sure you contact your partner promptly and communicate well.

I REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING LOTS OF FUN WITH ALL OF YOU WHO SIGN UP TO TAKE THIS JOURNEY WITH ME.

Sounds interesting, but I have to admit, I have no idea what a skinny is. Please clarify. Thank you.

A skinny is like an ATC but it is larger at 3 x 5 inches.

Thank you graydragon for explaining what a Skinny is for me. It is just a larger space to work on and i thought for these Ancient Wonders a larger space might work better.

Also I want to clarify another part of my directions. I said "gluieing on a picture and the name is not acceptable." I did not mean that you can't find a picture of the place and use it and most certainly the name should be on the Skinny, but think about what else could be put with those items. Think about your presentation--paper you use, embellishments you could use etc. Lastly, remember you can use other art forms--collage, drawing, watercolor, colored pencils, or whatever art form you are comfortable working in.

Larger? I didn't know. Should be "not as skinny". Okay, now that I know, I am in!

You can use a standard file card/recipie card as a template (I discovered). I have done three: The Hanging Gardens, The Colossus & The Pyramids at Giza.

It is so exciting to hear that moxsapphir is already working on her first set of Skinnies of the Ancient Wonders of the World. It would be wonderful to see your 3 that you haave created, but will have to wait until we assign partners and your lucky partner receives your Skinnies. What a GREAT START!!!!
