I just had a quick question. I'm new to making matchboxes and was wondering what the best way to send them in the mail so they don't get smushed.

AnnMarie 07/13/2010 #

You can send them in a bubble envelope with a bit of bubble wrap around them. I send mine in a normal envelope with bubble wrap around but I use store bought matchboxes which are alot more sturdier than handmade ones.

Oh ok awsome thank you.

I have lots of old buttons. What are considered good to swap? As long as they are still usable. My first swap, so if I join, I want to do it right! :)

AnnMarie 07/14/2010 #

Aslong as the buttons are in good condition you can use any of them =)

@ambritsmom40 I learned back when I traded miniatures that some people mail little things, like matchboxes and other small or fragile items, in empty pill bottles or plastic film canisters placed inside sturdy envelopes. Just remember to remove any labels from the containers which might contain medical or personal info, or carefully black out the info. I also suggest taping the lids on. Hope this helps. :)

to receive a box full of white or grey shirt buttons wouldn't be very nice though, I have some pretty buttons I can fill mine with...

ambritsmom40 07/20/2010 #

Thanks CraftyTweetie, that's a great idea.

PepperDust 07/20/2010 #

Great idea, CraftyTweetie!

And amen to that dogfish. I've got a matchbox full of fun, colorful buttons ready to go and I hope I get one back in return!

But more than that I can't wait to see how people decorate their matchboxes. =D

that was so much fun making the little matchbox and then to fill it was even more fun. I hope my partner likes my first matchbox ever made.
