This is part one of a seven-part series of ATC swaps. In a nutshell, we will be making a Monopoly Game Board out of ATC's!

Swap #1

We are going to start off easy and make one ATC for each of the corners on the standard Monopoly game board:

  1. GO
  2. JAIL

You will design one ATC using any medium you choose to represent each of these spaces on a Monopoly board. You can depict them in any way you choose as long as it is obvious which block your ATC represents.

DON'T just make an ATC that looks like the block on the board. Use your imagination and make it a block that even Parker Bros. would be envious of. Use the name of the block as the theme and show us how you interpret it.

DON'T slap a sticker on it and call it an ATC. Stickers are perfectly ok to use if done correctly. Stickers should add to the ATC art, not be the ATC art.

DO make the dimensions of the cards 2.5 x 3.5 inches (64 x 89 mm).

DO make them sturdy. If you have cardstock, maybe adhere it to a piece of stiff cardboard to make it stronger (cereal boxes are GREAT!

DO sign and date your ATC's to include the swap name and your user name. If you are making multiple copies, indicate if your partner is receiving the original or the duplicate.

Newbies will be allowed in on a case-by-case basis. Just send me a message so I can check out your profile. If I don't allow you, don't take it personal. Just get some more swaps under your belt and we can do a private one later.

This IS international. There will never be more than 6 ATC's being sent at one time which can be sent with a single stamp (in the U.S.) without additional cost (assuming they aren't too heavily embellished), so AT MOST we are looking at 98 cents to mail a swap. PLEASE NO WHINING about postage. If you don't want to pay the postage, simply ignore this swap. Don't complain about it in the comments section. I will delete whiny comments and ban whiny participants.

You have until September 30th to have these POSTED. SO don't procrastinate. Get them done BEFORE the due date and they will be on time! There is plenty of time to complete 4 HIGH quality ATC's for your partner. Make the most of it!

I love the fact that you hate Whining!!

Should't the corner ones be square???

user2637 08/19/2010 #

If they were square, they wouldn't be ATCs.

this is a rad idea! i can't wait to have all of them and make a sweet monopoly board!

GoingTwinsane 08/19/2010 #

I was thinking about the corner ones and the necessity of them being square. My solution to appease the ATC gods is that when we receive our "corner pieces" from our partner, we can then mount them on a square piece of whatever so that the board works?

Any ideas on that?

snifferooski 08/19/2010 #

yeah, i figured i would just mount mine to some heavy duty cardstock once they arrived. it would have to be a 3.5" square.

snifferooski 08/20/2010 #

ahhh! due to crazy life stuff i have to drop swaps that haven't been assigned yet. hopefully i'll catch the next one, i can always just make my own corners, i suppose!

Mamasch 08/21/2010 #

This sounds fantastic! Thanks for emphasizing creativity (instead of redrawing the existing board).

GoingTwinsane 08/21/2010 #

Ah Sniffers...bummer. You're welcome Mamasch! We aren't duplicating the board, we are making a BETTER one!

goddessfox 08/23/2010 #

Delete and ban away! I love your candid nature and love your swap idea, I cannot wait to pass GO!

GoingTwinsane 08/25/2010 #

Thanks @goddessfox Much appreciated! I get so tired of reading REALLY cool swaps and then having people whine and complain about what they don't want to do in it or bitch and moan and then don't bother joining when the hostess changes it. UGH. Crybabies!

candlelady 08/30/2010 #

LOVE IT!!!! What a GREAT idea!!! I intend to mount all of mine as an actual board as well. Thanks for the great swap!
