Description:

'The Snowman' by Raymond Briggs has always been somewhat of a Christmas tradition, since I was a child, in the UK and without the animated adaptation along with the Queen's speech, the Doctor Who xmas special and Boxing Day monopoly, a good ol' British christmas would not be the same.

Whether you already know the Book or the Animated short, neither or both, I am certain that anyone who who has been made aware of this exiting, fun and moving tale cannot fail to fall in love with it.

So, for this swap you will make your partner a christmas ornament kit based on The Snowman. This does not mean it has to look like the snowman from the story, just be inspired by.

You will put together a kit that consists of various components for your partner to put together to make themselves their own unique snow friend!

There are no size requirements as such but please make it a decent size, so perhaps no smaller (top to bottom) than an ATC. But I am certain you can all use your own judgement on this!

The ornament can be made from any medium, be it paper and card, material, foam, felt, wood, recycled materials or anything else. But whatever you choose, make sure it will be sturdy and decent for hanging on the tree or wherever your partner chooses.

You must make sure you include all the pieces your ornament will need to be completed from body parts to snowy christmas extras and clothing to ribbon or string to hang. These extras might be hat, scarve, gloves, buttons, holly leaves, birds or other animals, lantern, or anything else. These extras must be made to be added to the main ornament and not as seperate pieces for placing elsewhere.

Include in your kit a little instruction page with a list of all items and materials included and a little introduction to your ornament, perhaps with a back story and reason for the design/material you chose etc. Also decorate this page and make it a lovely and attractive part of the kit.

The kit must include everything that will be needed for the ornament itself such as extra embellishments, hanging ribbon, glitter, but does not need to include tools such as glue, tape etc. Please note, if your ornament needs sewing though you must include the thread needed.

Because it is a kit, you will need to package everything up accordingly. For example, maybe you will put any buttons, brads and embellishments in a little bag, box or wrap in pretty paper or an envie, maybe you want to send your kit in a decorated box or in pretty paper bags, perhaps wrapping the whole lot in xmas paper like a little gift. However you do this just make certain it is all lovely and 'Christmassy' and a joy to recieve and open!

When planning and putting it all together just imagine what might be needed and appreciated!

I think I have covered most of it, but please comment below if I have missed anything so I can edit the info accordingly!

I cannot wait to do this, have fun creating your little snow buddy! =D

I implore you to watch the animated silent short if you have never before seen it and take a look at the lovely official website.

Never heard of this before, but I am hooked. Actually, I was hooked when I saw David Bowie.
