Season's Greetings Defined: -- a selection of greetings that are often spoken with good intentions to strangers, family, or friends, in nations around the world, during the months of December and January. Holidays with greetings include but, doesn't not exclude: Christmas, New Year's Day, Chinese New Year, Thanksgiving (United States), Yule or Yuletide, Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Pancha Ganapati, Eid al-Adha, etc. For this swap, you may also choose to celebrate winter as a season for your interpretation. Winter Defined: --1. the cold season between autumn and spring in northern latitudes (in the Northern Hemisphere from the winter solstice to the vernal equinox; in the Southern Hemisphere from the summer solstice to the autumnal equinox). 2. the months of December, January, and February in the U.S., and of November, December, and January in Great Britain. 3. being old in wisdom and experience; venerable. 4. cold weather. 5. the colder half of the year. 6. a whole year as represented by this season: a man of sixty winters. 7. a period like winter, as the last or final period of life; a period of decline, decay, inertia, dreariness, or adversity. 8. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of winter: a winter sunset. 9. to keep, feed, or manage during the winter, as plants or cattle: plants wintering indoors. Please choose your own interpretation of SEASON'S GREETINGS and/or WINTER for this project but, please do not feel limited to the defined examples given above.
This swap is for a new printmaking themed postcard series for printmaking artists. Sorry, no prefab stamps please, all blocks/stamps or plates must be handcarved/etched & designed by each participating artist.
Printing may include but, does not exclude, rubber or linoleum, plastic, metal, wood, or foam. Use waterproof/permanent inks or protective fixative/seal for water soluble inks (reminder, these must withstand postal delivery to your partners). You may like to illustrate, paint, or color your postcards & block prints to enhance the front & backside of the cards (depending on the printing method you choose to use & artistic preference), freedom of expression, creativity, technique, & style is up to the artist (sender).
The design direction & print is the artist's (sender's) choice, as long as your work is influenced by the chosen theme of this swap. Make something you would be proud to trade, add to your mail art collection, or matte & frame, this is for 2 postcards, 1 postcard per partner. Note: These projects may be made from the same stencil, block, plate, etc. These may be identical or you may like to decorate these differently, different colors, you may like to add acrylic painting, ink wash, watercolored background, or add illustrations, etc. etc. Freedom of creativity is up to each artist (sender).
Newbies with well filled out profiles are welcome. Providing links to your work is encouraged for newbies & seasoned swappers. 4.9 or higher are welcome, no unexplained 3s or 1s, I will be checking profiles before the swap begins. I will angel if the need arises.
Check in for updates for future printmaking swaps, I shall also be providing links to future Printmaking Postcard Themed swaps in description section in the near future.
Thank you for your participation & I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have about this swap or this series.
