Swap description: A Totally Tangled Stationery Set

The challenge: design a 20-piece set of stationery (see below) using zentangles or zentangle-inspired doodles as decoration!

Each 20-piece set should include 4 each of at least 5 different items. What kind of items? Some examples:

  • 4 postcards
  • 4 notecards
  • 4 writing sheets
  • 4 continuation sheets
  • 4 matching envelopes
  • 4 envelope seals
  • 4 address labels
  • 4 return address labels
  • anything else relevant that would count as stationery!

It is up to you whether you create a corner or border design, or cover the entire area. Just make sure there is room for your partner to use the stationery item as intended (eg space to write an address on an envelope, or room to write a letter on a page!).

Your doodles do not need to be based on 'official' zentangle patterns, although they can be, if you like. Use the tangles you find online as starting points or inspiration, or create your own – it's entirely up to you.

You should design a matching set of stationery, so that (e.g.) notecards can be slotted into a matching envelope, addressed with matching mailing labels, and sealed with a matching envelope seal (etc). The set may be entirely of a single themed design, or you may include 2 each of 2 different designs to make up your set (equivalent of 2 x 10-piece sets).

You do not need to hand-doodle each item of stationery – make yourself a mastercopy then scan or photocopy to create multiples. Just make sure they are good quality copies that can be used in correspondence by your partner!

Resources

If you know any other good resources, please add them in the swap comments below!

Swap requirements:

  • 1 partner = 1 Totally Tangled Stationery Set sent and 1 Totally Tangled Stationery Set received
  • Present your stationery set nicely, eg tied with a ribbon, or slotted into a wallet (these are just examples, feel free to get creative!). Do not just throw everything loose into an envelope!
  • Each stationery set must comprise a minimum of 20 individual items.
  • Each stationery set should be a matching set of either 1 or 2 designs. Please do not send a random collection of different designs.
  • Designs may be in colour or in black & white.
  • Stationery may be individually hand-doodled or copied from a master sheet.
  • All stationery must be of a quality suitable for use in correspondence.

The obvious bit
You already had to have a rating of 4.9+ with no recent no-sends, 1s or 3s to join this group, so the same stands for this swap. But I will still double-check before assigning partners, and nobody with late swaps on their dashboard will be allowed to join. If you have what you feel is an unfair comment or rating, do PM me & we can try to work it out. :-)

Come play, come play! :)

iLoveMail 12/12/2010 #

I would be totally fine if it ends up being just you & me in this one; then I know I'd get the best swap partner :)

TangleCrafts 12/13/2010 #

No pressure on me, then! ;)

One thing I'm not sure about: when you write (e.g.) notecards can be slotted into a matching envelope, addressed with matching mailing labels, and sealed with a matching envelope seal (etc)., does that mean we have to make a complete set like that? Or just that when things can be used together, they have to match?

(I'm having a hard time imagining much of a zentangle on a return address label, but maybe I need to broaden my view of an address label! )

TangleCrafts 12/16/2010 #

Each item within the set should have matching zentangle decoration. Is that clearer? I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, sorry! :S

For a tangled address label you could (for example) zentangle a border, or corner motif. The entire area does not have to be doodled.

TangleCrafts 12/16/2010 #

The photo centre top shows a spread of address & return address labels. It's not clear due to the size of the pic, but each label has a doodled motif in diagonally opposite corners, which 'frame' some lines for the address to be written in. Does that help?

camelsamba 12/19/2010 #

Sorry for not being more clear. If I tangle a card and envelope, am iakso expected to do a matching address label and return label, or does card+envelope count as a set? I'm just not sure if certain items require others...

TangleCrafts 12/20/2010 #

Sorry, I was out of the house yesterday. You must choose any 5 of the items listed in the swap description to make up a set, and all elements should have a matching tangle/doodle.

I get it now! Thanks!
