I live in central Oregon with my husband, daughter, my pets and our clucky backyard chickens! My daughter is a crazy, sweet, terrific 2 year old. I love crafting! My favorites would have to be knitting and sewing. Art and design are big drivers of mine. I work as a florist and love to be surrounded by beautiful things in all areas of my life!
Right now - Feist, Cat Power, Alison Krauss and Sia.
White Oleander, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, the Little House on the Prairie series and lots of others. I love my craft and knitting books too! I love to read, anything and everything.
Amelie, Under the Tuscan Sun, Memoirs of a Geisha, Girl with a Pearl Earring, Lost in Translation, Anne of Green Gables, Gone With the Wind, You've Got Mail, Marie Antoinette, Chicago, Frida, Love Actually
Project Runway, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Fringe, Survivorman, Deadliest Catch
Knitting, sewing, paper crafts, assemblage, flower arranging (I'm a florist). I'm always up for trying something new, I've tried lots of different things but the above are the things that have stuck. I am a sucker for pretty prints whether it's fabric or paper, I love color, I love little vintage embellishments - buttons, sequins, beads, rick-rack, you name it. My favorite things to make have a little touch of modern, lots of vintage inspiration, and pretty color combinations.
Favorites! - Things that sparkle, glitter, sweets, vintage - especially things from the 20s through the 50s, flowers, cottage and shabby chic styles, pink, vintage rhinestone costume jewelry, cute Japanese things, things that are cute but dark, pretty craft books and magazines, yarn or fabric in natural fibers (cotton, wool, alpaca, silk, etc.), polka dots, anything that's sweet and pretty, anything handmade by you!
Not so Favorites - Swap packages where someone obviously didn't look at my profile and just seemed to send whatever they had lying around that they didn't want (I don't at all mind getting items that someone already owns, as long as they really think I'd like them or be able to use them), Disney or Looney Toons characters, USA themed stuff, cheap looking dollar store items, smoke smelling packages - blech.
I'm not horribly picky, if you read my profile and put time and care into the swap you're sending me I will be happy!
My daughter Lucy is in her terrific twos, so any toys that are appropriate for two-year-olds would be great! She loves animals, and she's always carrying her stuffed animals and dolls around. She loves pretending and playing with her teacups. I am learning more about the Waldorf style of parenting and am trying to incorporate more of those traditions into our house. I started a nature table for her, which all 3 of us love! I also love the idea of simpler toys and getting back to basics. Her imagination is so strong, I would love to encourage that as she grows.
Light pink and aqua blue, Pink (any shade except neon), Blue (any shade), Green (pale, grass, shades found in nature), Lavender, "Ocean" colors - beach glass, water, sand, driftwood, etc. I don't really think there are bad colors, only bad color combinations. I love weird color combinations that really pop.
I would really love any Japanese craft books or craft magazines - used or past issues are great too! They're hard to get around here.
I would also love any fat quarters or natural fiber yarn (leftover balls are wonderful too) - I love the surprise and challenge of getting a fabric print or yarn that I might not choose for myself and figuring out what I'm going to make with it!
Looove vintage ephemera, old costume jewelry, millinery flowers, things like that. If it's old, sparkly, tattered and pretty I'll love it!
