About Me

Hello there, my name is Ashley.

It has been awhile since I've logged on here, like close to 7 months. I had finally gotten a job! Everything was going great until it just all just crashed as I had forgotten to take care of myself while on and off the job. I have been recovering and honestly forgot about swap-bot for the longest time--which is weird considering I was on here just about every other day checking all the new swaps. So this is in case anyone is checking my profile, I am back and slowly organizing everything so I can get back into this. I know there is one that I never sent and quite a few I need to mark as received!

I am an extroverted 25 year old still figuring out what to do with life, just passing the time in the same small town I've been all my life.

Just a few things I do in my free time: Experience the video games I was denied during my childhood. Read the couple dozen books I've had for years, but still just buy more instead of reading them. Getting lost on tumblr or instagram. Hang out with friends, hopefully playing some board or card games. Clean, it feels like it never gets done, does it. Also organize. My entire life has been completely unorganized, but I'm working on it now and hope to be back to functioning soon. Research Wicca as I am slowly getting back into practicing.

When inspirations strikes I love writing, baking and cooking, or any type of crafting/creative activity.

IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A SWAP FROM ME, PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST.

Favorite Books

When I was younger I would read 8 to 9 books a month. This is how I would escape the single child lifestyle after my much older siblings left. I am a firm believer in reading for yourself and reading to your children! My mother read to me every night till I was in 4th grade! It's great learning and bonding time! My spelling may not always be perfect, but I know words! I am happy to give recommendations! I read many books in my adolescence.

J. K. Rowling - Harry Potter series. And many fans different interpretations of it.

Alice Hoffman -Green Angel and Green Witch

Rick Riordan - Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olymus, The Kane Chronicles, and Magnus Chase series.

Malissa De La Cruz - Blue Bloods series

Jane Austin - Pride and Prejudice. Also Seth Grahame-Smith's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Bram Stoker - Dracula

Favorite Movies

I love well made movies because they are great-Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, the MCU's Captain America movies, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Shawshank Redemption--but I also love some badly made movies because they are great. There is a special place in my heart for B rated horror films and cult classics--Rocky Horror Picture Show, Cursed, The Lost Boys, Trick 'r Treat, Stay Alive.

Some favorite Directors/Writers and their films:

Guillermo Del Torro: Pans Labyrinth, Hellboy, The Strain, Crimson Peak.

Mel Brooks - Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Spaceballs, History of the World part one, Robin Hood: Men In Tights.

Steven Spielberg - Jaws, Indiana Jones series, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Goonies, Hook, Jurassic Park, Catch Me If You Can, War Horse

Quentin Tarantino - Reservior Dogs, Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2, Grindhouse, Inglorious Bastards, Django Unchained.

Now, there are movies that I could watch everyday. I will never turn down the chance to watch. 13 Going On 30, The Singing Detective, The Road to El Dorado, Holes, Scooby Doo (2002) and basically every feature length film before this one. Beauty and the Beast (1992 and 2017), Cinderella (2015), Odd Tomas, Chef, Stardust, The Help, White Christmas, Hocus Pocus, House on Haunted Hill, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Mummy & The Mummy Returns!

As you can see I like just about everything. Animated. Horror. Comedy. Historical Period Pieces.

I do love my Marvel movies. Bucky Barnes is a precious cinnamon roll that must be protected. Team Captain America! Sam Wilson must also be protected.

Favorite Music

My taste are very eclectic, there is little that I don't like, which is just about everything on the Heavy Metal/Screamo side and most of today's Hip/Hop & American Rap.

It changes every few months or so as to what is my favorite at the time, but I am always down for some Classic Rock and Broadway show tunes. Oh also a playlist I made that can always get me dancing.

Current Obsession: Rainbow - Kesha. This new album is so full of emotion, it's beautiful.

One thing I can always be found listening to are podcasts. The Rooster Teeth Podcast, Off Topic, Always Open, On The Spot, The Horror! (Old Time Radio), LeVar Burton Reads, and my latest obsession, LORE. Seriously I was introduced and caught up on 70 episodes in like a month.

Favorite Television

I used to watch so many shows. So many. Sadly many lose my interest when the writing starts getting lazy, repetitive, or just plain bad.

Shows that I absolutely love and why:

Stranger Things (Netflix) Come on, do I really need to say. There's everything in here and with the added touch of nostalgia.

Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries (PBS, Netflix): A freethinking woman detective in 1920's Australia! I love my period pieces. And strong female characters. And everyone in this show.

iZombie (CW, Netflix): You end up falling in love with everyone. Except Major Lilywhite. I can't stand him. When you take on personality traits of the person whose brain you eat, you never know what is going to happen!

Death In Paradise (PBS, Netflix): The differences between the British DI and the native island people that make up the police force make for some great comedy. When you think about it, a lot of murder happens on this one island. I wonder why people keep coming to it on holiday.

Doctor Blake's Murder Mysteries (PBS, Netflix) A 1950's Australian doctor who just loves to stick his nose in peoples lives to solve crimes. There is also a larger story that slowly unravels over the course of the series.

Grantchester (PBS, Amazon Prime) Drama. Murder. Mystery. Need I say more.

picking up a theme yet? I love my murder mystery shows. Especially my BBC ones that I enjoy watching with my mother.

Also currently watching: SPN, The Flash, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Gilmore Girls, The Fosters, Parks and Rec, The Great British Baking Show, OITNB, GoT, Glee, Weird Wonders of the World, Boardwalk Empire, and House of Lies.

Favorite Crafts

I love to work with my hands. I have been crafty all my life, starting with learning to braid which led to friendship bracelets and lanyards. I have worked with beading, crochet, loom knitting, cross stitching, machine sewing, hand sewing, soap making, candle making, ceramics, as well as many DIY's found on Pintrest and other sources around the internet.

My interest will change pretty often, one month I can't stop crocheting, the next I don't want to do anything but make friendship bracelets.

I currently love doing any type of paper crafting, scrapbooking, card making, pocket letters...I just love looking at pretty paper, and pretty things in general.

As for art, my father is a retired art teacher. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "It's violet not purple." I have tried just about every medium there is to create a picture, chalk & oil pastels, acrylic & oil paint, graphite and colored pencils, ink pens, markers, and crayons.

My favorite medium to work with is watercolors. I love the way you can layer the same color and the way colors blend together so effortlessly.

Likes and Dislikes

LIKES: The outdoors. I love going on adventures and exploring. geocaching, hiking, camping, anything having to do with National and State parks.

I love the color green! All things green. I also enjoy other earth-tone/nature and ocean colors.

Anything with Turtles, Wolves, Butterflies, Elephants, Tigers, Dachshunds and really any type of bird.

I love to bake and cook and welcome any recipe swap! My favorite is dark chocolate. I love spice. I love coffee, darker the better. I love tea, any type, but nothing is better during the summer than some iced green tea. Neither is better than the other. I enjoy them both.

Earthy, Spicy, and Floral scents.

Socks.

If you want to draw, paint, doodle, color anything I would love it.

Just a few of the many different studies I pursue in my own time: History, Mythology, Geology, Philosophy, Photography, Literature, and Linguistics.

DISLIKES: I don't like the color yellow, the only time I can stand it is during the fall with all the changing of the leaves.

I absolutely hate 'white chocolate', it's not even chocolate. Artificial grape and cherry flavors.

I don't like sweet scents like chocolate, sugar, vanilla

Loose glitter.

Would prefer not to recieve anything religious.

Collectables/Wishlist

Stamps: both new and used. Foreign coins. Buttons. Pins. Bottle Caps. Wine/Liquor labels.

Crystals. Gemstones. Rocks. Sand. Pressed Flora and Fauna. If you can identify where they are from and what kind/species it would be much appreciated.

Shaped paperclips. Colorful/Unique business cards. Stickers. Notebooks.

Comics. GameCube games.

Anything having to do with: - Dia De Los Muertos/Sugar Skulls - Doctor Who - Lilo & Stitch - MARVEL - Harry Potter (especially Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff) - Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier - Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunter

Ohhhhh.....witchy!

I am a green and lunar witch. I love my succulents and the moon, stars, and night. I love working with crystals and tarot.

If there are any witches who would like to be friends, I would love to have some which I can talk to about this and bounce ideas and experiences off of.

Comment: Hi Sassy! Thank you for your book answers. I really love YA books, too. I actually read a really cool book not too long ago where the princesses were bad and not good. I think they called them Twisted Fairytales. All the princesses were trouble makers and kick butt gals with attitudes living in a half-way house ran by Granny and the Judge was Red Riding Hood. It was really good and a different spin on the way we seen those stories. I think the first book I read was called "Sinderella"
