Hello!! My goodness 30 years of journaling, that's some amazing persistence! How neat that you crochet too :) I haven't done any blankets yet, but I think I will start one next week. I've been scouring the internet for an easy pattern that I like the most. My cousin and his wife are having the first great grandkid in February but my grandma already has a bunch of baby blankets made, so I think I will make a regular blanket for another cousin's birthday in December.
