I'm originally from England, but moved to Canada with my family in 1975. I love going back there and try to go back as often as possible. My favourite place to travel would be Europe. I love the history there, that we are lacking in North America.
In my spare time I like to go hiking, biking, camping and geocaching.
I've always collected postcards - places I've been and other family members have been, but I would love to receive postcards from anywhere in the world. Some of my favourites are:
Oh, and if the swap is for just one PC, please don't bother putting the postcard in an envelope - I like the stamps almost as much as the postcards!
I don't seem to spend much time crafting in the summer, but during the winter I seem to spend a lot of time creating. I enjoy knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and sewing. I haven't done any embroidery for years, but after seeing some amazing hoop art on Pinterest I'm trying my hand at it again.
I'm not a painter, but I love art (that's probably obvious from the amount of Art PC swaps I've joined). Lately though, I'm getting really inspired by mail art, so I've been playing around, painting some envelopes. My work isn't good enough to send out or swap yet, but I'll get there!
When I first signed up for swap-bot it was primarily to trade PCs, but I'm starting to get into other swaps as well. Here are some of the things I would be happy to see in my mailbox:
British partners/swappers - I love Maltesers and Mars bars! Yes, we have them in Canada, but they are no where near as good as the British versions. Same with Cadbury's Easter eggs. I also love Refreshers, which we can't get over here. Actually, I could probably make a long list of British candies that I miss!
Of course, I'd be happy with anything I received!
My favourite authors are Douglas Adams, Jasper Fforde, Douglas Coupland and Sue Townsend. I think I've read all the books they've written!
I'm starting to read Neil Gaiman and Terry Prachett, and I'm really enjoying their books too!
I don't own a television - I gave it away about 3 years ago, after I realized I had turned it on less than 5 times in 2 1/2 years. I thought I would miss it, but I don't at all.
Once in awhile I will watch Dr Who, Peep Show, The IT Crowd, Green Wing and Blackadder.
I can't remember the last film I saw (it's been that long!), but I prefer Canadian, foreign and independent films compared to Hollywood blockbusters (I find them too formulaic).
My favourites are Amelie and The Edukators. And I simply love Woody Allen's work!
In an effort to get my postcard collection under control and organized in 2014, I am going to be offering some postcard RAKs throughout the year (when I seem to have extra stamps around). Please check the forums :)
