I live in Oakland, CA, although I have lived and worked in other states in the past. I work as a law librarian and have worked in libraries for most of my life. I love using old books to upcycle into other things. In my office at work I have a picture frame, a clock, and a succulent holder, all made from books that were headed to the trash.
I really like making cards and envelopes, so I tend to veer toward handmade swaps.
I rate as soon as I get your piece so that there's no chance of me forgetting. If I didn't rate, I didn't get it yet.
If there is a problem with a swap between, us, please feel free to DM me. More likely than not it is just a misunderstanding, but lets try and clear it up so we don't both walk away frustrated. This is supposed to be fun. It's the only reason I do it.
I really like making envelopes, so even if I send just a postcard, I will likely put it into an envelope made of ephemera. I tend to skip "stuff" swaps, or swaps that specify postcards "naked and not in an envelope" and/or "not handmade."
Many of my swaps go out at night - remember if a card goes into the collection box once the post office is closed, the postmark will be the next day. That does not mean the item was sent "late".
Treat others the way you want to be treated. A little kindness and understanding goes a long way.
I think I've overwhelmed most of my friends with MailArt lately, so I need new victims.[insert ominous laughter]
I love thrifting, sewing, and dumpster diving. I spend a lot of time making #MailArt that I send to all my friends. I also enjoy sewing for myself and my tiny dog.
I was into DIY before it was cool - My mother called it "We can make that from things we have at home!"
Law and Order (any of them!), Real Housewives of Atlanta, Hot Bench, People's Court, You, Bob's Burgers, Sifl & Olly, Superstore, Wicked Attraction, Women Behind Bars,
Talented Mr. Ripley, Behind the Candelabra, Bad Seed, Get Out, Whatever happened to Baby Jane, Rocketman, Pootie Tang, Friday, Black Panther, Sorry to bother you, The Wiz, Grey Gardens
I like vintage photographs, tiny dogs, library paraphernalia (book carts, stamps, check out cards etc), birds, science fiction, robots, drag queens, drag kings, trains, books, collage, weird interior design, and sewing machines.
Civil rights themes are great - I support the equal justice initiative, including gay rights and trans rights.
Other than that, send anything that you like, so I can get to know you. I like seeing what technique. s other people use, and I like seeing what they are into. Tell me something about you, about your day, about your city. Even a few lines can go a long way.
I am open to continued mail swapping once our swap is over because my brain just wants to keep creating.
Any depictions of violence. . Not so much into religious stuff.
Nothing pro military or pro police.
Prefer no glitter or confetti, but if you must use it, please label your envelope with a content warning, so I can open it outside
