Description:

It's good to take time to create! This special time of year brings it out in us whether we're gift wrapping or house decorating.

For this swap you will have 2 partners and make them each one Christmas ATC. Please make sure the card is 2.5 x 3.5 and put your name on the back.

Please write a note to your partners telling them a bit of what your own Christmas is like.

**** Please put the swap name on the back of the atc as well as your own. And you may use one appropriate sticker but it's preferable that you be creative with other types of media.

Thanks!

....as a reminder to newbies, you must put your name, the swap name and give a name to your atc, and put it on the back of the atc. If you are making a series, please put it on there also if the one you are sending is a, b, c or 1, 2, 3 of the series.

Good Afternoon: Is there any way I can be entered in two Christmas ATC swaps? I already have my Christmas ATC's completed! They are mixed media with watercolor, wide Aluminum tape with etching, Christmas Santa, markers, and words. once again, I am already entered for one but would like two swaps. Thanks- Karen

pinkrenegade 09/16/2011 #

Hi Karen! Please read the PM I just sent you. I would like you to be in the swap but you must fill out your profile.

I'm so glad you're so interested in joining the swaps. In the beginning you can join up to 5 swaps, but not the same one twice. As you do more swaps and have good ratings, the amount of swaps opens up to you. :o)

You're welcome to ask me anything you need to! Pat

kdonnerberg 09/16/2011 #

Pat: Just updated the profile. See if this is what you want. Thanks- Karen

pinkrenegade 09/16/2011 #

Kare ~ sweet!

pinkrenegade 09/16/2011 #

Make that Karen with an n.. oops, sorry :o)

kdonnerberg 09/16/2011 #

Another question, where do I mail my 2 ATC's. I already have them finished.

pinkrenegade 09/18/2011 #

On Nov 4th I will press the button that assigns partners, the 4th being the day after the last sign up day. Then you will get a notice ..swap reminder.. that the swap is ready and you will have your 2 partners addresses and 2 people will have yours.

kdonnerberg 09/23/2011 #

Sounds great. I am looking forward to the swap. Can you provide information where I can learn about the rating system and how to rate? Thanks

pinkrenegade 09/24/2011 #

Scroll down to the very bottom of your profile page (any page when you're on swap-bot) and click on any word in blue for information.

capagrl 10/24/2011 #

I'm so excited that I made my 2 Christmas ATCs today. Can't wait till the 4th so I can craft some envelopes for sending my ATCs out :)

pinkrenegade 10/25/2011 #

Thanks everyone for joining this swap. I haven't begun making my atc's like some of you have, but I sure am looking forward to doing them! I understand your excitement selahgal and capagrl!

ShellyLynn816 10/25/2011 #

Why is this a Type 2 Swap?? I'm just wondering because anything with a crafting element is a Type 3 swap...

pinkrenegade 10/26/2011 #

Hi ShelleyLynn ..there is little to no crafting done with the atc so it can be sent in a regular envelope. The atc's have to fit into a 'pocket' when they are stored, the same as like a sports card collection, so there can't be a lot of extra's piled one on top the other on it to make it thick. Does that make sense?

MrSchiEvous 10/26/2011 #

Guess your definition of an ATC @pinkrenegade is different from the ones I'm used to getting and making... Maybe not the swap for me... I'm used to lots of 3D stuff, and sticky out bits.

PJ 10/27/2011 #

Unfortunately won't be joining this swap as my dash is feeling a bit too full right now. But just wanted to add my comments on the issue of Type 2 vs. 3. Actually, @pinkrenegade , this subject has been discussed a lot in the public forums in the past. While there hasn't been perfect agreement, general community consensus is that ATC's are indeed Type 3 precisely because they require significant crafting component. They are artist trading cards, so they are art. And I know I've seen Rachel weigh in on at least one of those threads to say that she would put ATC's as Type 3. I hope that is helpful information ...

Also, while it's true that many people prefer that things be kept relatively flat, not everyone does. Not everyone keeps their ATC's in sleeves or albums, and even many that do will find another way to store bulkier ATC's. I have a little box, sort of like a recipe card box. I want to be able to touch the ATC's when I flip through them, to pick them up and look closer at one, etc. But if you prefer binders, I believe one person says they find a different kind of insert sheets (maybe something meant to hold photos or postcards?) so that they can still be stored in a binder. Others might stick a magnet on the back, pin the ATC to a bulletin board, prop it up on a shelf, etc, for the few 3D ones. Some people like the "3D stuff, and sticky out bits," as @MrSchiEvous refers to it, the best!

sojourner 10/29/2011 #

ATC's really are Type 3 whether they are flat or not.

pinkrenegade 10/31/2011 #

Thanks Ladies ~ changed it! :o)

pinkrenegade 10/31/2011 #

It appears Im not good at saying what Im thinking and this leads to misunderstanding to others on my part. I am sorry. Because I visualize my atcs in a plastic pocket they are in, I think of them as somewhat on the flat side. I dont have a great deal of atcs and have not received one that is thick. I have used 3d on my own atcs and they fit into the pocket. I think because I dont own very manyreceivedatcs, Im not sure just how thick people can make them, therefore I say things likenot lots of extras. I personally like the extras, theyre creative. I do thank you very much, both MrSchiEvous and PJ for helping me be more verbal or clear, about this. It`s good to have the input, like sitting across the kitchen table with friends. Thank you!

pinkrenegade 10/31/2011 #

I have no idea why the font changed like it did. It looks stupid..

PJ 10/31/2011 #

That is weird, about the font, @pink renegade! Don't worry how it looks though, no one will judge you by a computer glitch.

Anyway, glad you don't mind us weighing in on the subject. Glad we could help, and good luck with the swap!

pinkrenegade 11/ 1/2011 #

Thanks very much @PJ Γ’β„’Β₯

Leigh 11/ 1/2011 #

You know, if you have a preference for flat ATCs, then as the Swap Host, you are certainly able to specify "no 3-D embellishments" or "no embellishments outside the ATC". :o) Just sayin'.....

I myself often do both. It just depends on mood. Unless, of course, the swap states the above criteria. :o)

It's all good. Happy arting to all! ~Leigh

pinkrenegade 11/ 2/2011 #

Hi Leigh, thanks for your input ~ I just want to see creativity.. as much as possible which is why I put down 2 partners. I was tempted to put down three but thought with such a busy season plus not wanting to seen redundant in one swap, I kept it at two. :o) I don't have a preference for either one. I can't paint but have received such a beautiful painted one as well as lovely embellished ones. So as you say, it's all good!! Pat

pinkrenegade 11/ 2/2011 #

That would be seem.. not wanting to seem redundant.. good grief.

Vagirl 11/ 3/2011 #

I'm new to ATC's. I've never made one. Would this swap be for me?

pinkrenegade 11/ 3/2011 #

Yes @Vagirl this swap can be for you. :o) I made my first one about 2 months ago. You can google atc's to see how they are made if you haven't done so already. The biggest thing always is to not flake ~ if anyone says they are going to participate, their partners are all looking forward to hearing from you (me or whoever).
Start practising!!

Vagirl 11/ 3/2011 #

Thank you @ pinkrenegade. I think I'll give it a try then!!!

PeNeLoPe 11/16/2011 #

im late sending due to an RTA i was involved in y/day i have emailed both my partners with photos of the crash... will send out hopefully tonight or tomorrow.. depending on how quickly they will let me have a hire car.

FickityTwists 11/16/2011 #

Mine are late getting out. The glue didnt dry as fast as usual. Sucks using wet glue over stick ( which is what i usually use). Sorry for the delay.

mamabear2 11/18/2011 #
