I like abstracts, geometrics, etc., and shades of blue; crows and clouds are my favorite thing to photograph, so those images are encouraged!

MrsRemington 10/28/2011 #

I love all animals. Especially, cats and birds. Really any nature scene. All colors. I'd love it for my partner to create, paint and express themselves. I hope this isn't too vauge.

What are the requirements for what we paint on? I mean is this thick paper, canvas, or ???

anrtist 10/28/2011 #

hi Shellylynn816, thanx for the ? !
It is up to the artist, I'm sure everyone will do something that looks good. I have gotten all kinds of surfaces in these swaps and all looked good. the least you should use is a thick watercolor paper,( that works well), Other paintings I've gotten were on canvas paper, or canvas board, stretched canvas, masonite & wood.

I like Alice in Wonderland themes, and the colours red, black & white (playing cards, chess-boards etc.)

My other favourite colour is dark green, and I love ivy leaves, and ferns, and forests/woodland/trees. Also trees with bare branches against the sky in winter, and also autumn leaves, and dark natural woodgrain (mahogony etc).

My bedroom has walls that look like a dark forest, and garlands of dark green foliage with red and white roses.

I have started a small collection of original art on my kitchen wall, all with vaguely foodie themes (e.g. images of wine glasses, or vegetables, but would not be so keen on images of meat, dead animals etc) My favourite creatures include rats (I used to have a pet one), seagulls, ravens. I am interested in mathematics, science, astronomy, fractals etc. I like interesting words, and meaningful, surreal or thought-provoking sentences or other text incorporated into a painting.

Hope some of this inspires you! Please don't feel you have to try and cram all my 'likes' into one piece; I tend to group displays of art by theme, so am happy for you to just pick one of my suggestions!)

I like goldfish and koi - but all aquarium fish are awesome :D I like other animals too, my favorites being dolphins and whales, jellyfish, dogs, owls, octopi...

I love the ocean and corals and reefs.

I also like images of beautiful women - interpret that how you would like. Think Alphonse Mucha-type women.

Really, though, I would be happy with anything.

I'm looking forward to this one (: I like jeweled tones and monochromatic/grisaille technique. I like textures, mixed media, foreign languages, florals, portraits, peacocks, giraffes, chihuahuas, monkeys, travel related (Eiffel Tower, collesum, etc), ocean, sunset, hummingbirds, judaica... I see thins as an opportunity to grow artistically and try something new so stretch (:

I'm restating my preferences--I include the above mentioned styles and subjects, but want to say that if you feel comfortable painting realistically--I really, really love that--it's just not what most people do. My new favorite artist is Brian Lasaga , but I'm not expecting that! I love almost all forms of art, so whatever you choose to do , especially with my favorite subjects, will be terrific!

malangelene 11/ 9/2011 #

Hmm, birds—all kinds but especially owls and crows, rats. I like mixed media; it's such a process. I have great respect and appreciation for watercolor since I simply cannot get the hang of it. ... Feel free to run through my profile if you'd prefer more and/or different suggestions; anything themed from there would be great too.

Jules2elDorado 11/10/2011 #

Wow, it's so hard to choose! I'm sure I would be satisfied with whatever you make... But to help you out...

Theme: Animals, architecture, non-objective, cultural based, etc. Colors: Please no obnoxious color schemes like hot pink, turquoise, and fluorescent orange. I like bright colors but with limited use! Stylization: If you like texture, do texture! If you like realism, try realism! I'm not into the kawaii fad. Media: Your choice!

I'm very excited for this swap! :-)

ShellyLynn816 11/11/2011 #

Themes I enjoy: Dogs (Rottweilers, PitBulls, Cairn Terriers are my fave), Penguins, Elephants, Owls, Sunflowers, Lilacs, Nature in general (forests, beaches, snow scenes, fall scenes etc.), Zombies, and if you need any more ideas check out my likes on my profile as I would be happy with any of those as well. As far as colors it really depends on the theme you chose whatever you feel matches. I enjoy bright saturated colors but obviously with the Zombie theme you might want to do muted colors so just go with what you feel matches the them. Some of my favorite colors are indigo, purple, and aqua/turquoise.

Whatever you chose make sure it's something you enjoy painting too! :o) Can't wait to see what I get for this swap! I'm super excited!

LuldaCasadaga55 11/14/2011 #

I like sea themes, birds, fish or hands (I'm a Massage Therapist). I do love abstract, collage or realism. I'm easy to please so I'm sure I will like whatever is sent. Not a great fan of pastel colors. I also like pics of dogs...preferably boston terriers or black labs. Good luck...:)

kimphilipsvanburen 11/15/2011 #

I love this idea! I can't wait to see who'll be my partner :) I love all the colors of the rainbow (and more), just use the ones you love. What I love: peacocks (my new love!!!!), owls, birds, teacups, teapots, trees, the number 6, monsters, hands, maps. And if this isn't enough, just send me a PM or look at my profile :)

Kessie 11/16/2011 #

Aww, I keep checking back to see if partners have been assigned yet, because I'm really excited about this swap!

I'm absolutely a hopeless romantic...cute pictures of sweet kisses, holding hands, even just lounging on the couch...cute things that couples in love do...I would love to receive something like one of these, to inspire hope that true love exists. That being said, I also LOVE all things Disney - especially "Beauty and the Beast." It's my absolute favorite. :)
