Description:

For this swap you will create a poem through the deletion/selection of words, phrases and sentences on an already printed piece of text. To make it clear - you are not cutting and pasting pre-printed words into a sentence, but choosing a block of text and only selecting certain words.

  • You could choose an old book page, a newspaper article, a cereal box... whatever! As long or as short poem as you like.

  • You should think about presenting your poem somewhat like a postcard [eg stuck on to some card to make it stiff, recycling encouraged!] but sent in an envelope to protect it.

  • Two partners, one poem to each. Let it speak for itself or write a note about it to your partner!

I like the idea of creating something faux-profound from a junk mail advert, or something silly from Proust. I just like contrasts, but you can do anything you like!

I remember doing this a few years ago in an altered book art project, but my inspiration for this swap came from seeing this HERE

I've got mine done already! This was a blast, thanks for sharing such a great technique! You may have just created a monster!

Love these things! Really enjoyed the one you showed and love the idea of using an advertisement or junk mail.
