More squishing advice taken right from the queen of penny swaping, pennysquisher:
Its best to send pennies in a notecard, or folded up thin cardboard. When you put tape directly on the penny (especially a zinc penny) can cause discoloration on the coin. It is best to fold the penny up in a piece of paper or plastic before taping it to your notecard.

And as stated before, if your penny squishing machine requires you to supply a penny the best pennies to use for squishing are pre-1981 copper pennies, nicely cleaned!

You can find the cleaning techniques on the penny collector website! here: http://www.pennycollector.com/tipsclean.html

Thanks for starting this swap and for letting me know about it :) Great tips about the penny smashing too! I never knew about using the pre 1981 pennies. I normally just dig up whatever coins I can scrounge up at the bottom of my purse.

Hello,

I have been a long time fan of squished pennies. Just found your website and am thrilled there are folks out there who squish and swap.

In Oklahoma, we are a bit limited, but do have some machines. While I am brand new to the website, I would truly love to take part in this swap. I realize you must be a long time member or have traded several times in the past to qualify for this swap, but am wondering if there are other qualifications which might prove me worthy?

Helpful hint for penny cleaning you would not believe. Let them soak in Polident Denture cleanser overnight. Don't re-use the solution the next day. On your teeth OR your pennies. ;-) Fresh tablet for each soak. One soak is great, but watch what happens when you soak overnight, rinse and replace the tablet and soak again. The squished pennies from denture cleanser soaking are FABULOUS!

Hope to take part in this swap, or soon.

Many thanks, Karen Marie

A very simple way to clean a penny before or after squishing is to simply rub it with a pencil eraser.

Oh my gosh, I almost panicked! I remember receiving a note that the swap was coming in about a week. Thinking it had been about a week, I logged in and what did I see? DROP FROM SWAP. At first I thought I had missed a message or something and that I had been kicked out! LOL.

Whew, I feel much better. Settled down now, Karen Marie :-)
