Description:

Finally, a fun, easy, creative, high quality swap & it's inexpensive to mail!

http://community.livejournal.com/kawaiimatchbox/profile

Simply decorate a matchbox [or substitute it with a tiny d.i.y. box], fill it with fun items, & mail it off. Must contain only goods based on your partner's "5 Words."

More than one or two items, please.

These items can be a mix of handmade or purchased goods. [ie: Cellphone charms, button pins, magnets, bracelets, hair clips, friendship pins, sack stickers, clipped stickers, a small sack of glitter, a ring, fake tattoos, etc.] It's up to you. Please keep quality in mind. Give something you would also love to receive! ;)

international. ♥

If you don't have any matchboxes, feel free to make your own! Either out of tiny candy boxes, recycled cardboard, index cards... It just needs to be cutely decorated. ^-^

patterns: http://www.mrsgrossmans.com/stickerideas/shoematch.shtml

or origami techniques. http://dev.origami.com/diagram_load.cfm?pdfname=matchbox.pdf

What does "5 Words Theme" mean?

Basically you put together a matchbox according to your partner's selected 5 words! :D

ie: Panda, Blue, Stars, Kawaii, Hibiscus

The goods don't have to be all 5 things at once, like a blue panda with stars wearing hibiscus. lol

These must be simple design words, not item words. [ie no "stickers, deco tape, glitter"]

Hope you can have fun with this!! :)

Only users with a high rating may join

If you are new to swap-bot, please provide an alternate form of feedback. With proof that the account belongs to you: ebay, livejournal, etsy, or someone with a high rating who can vouch that you are a good swapper.

By joining this swap, you pinky promise to send out your end!

lol, I love Hibiscus! Where should we post our 5 words? Here or our profile?

wolfmom2ac 12/27/2006 #

I love/like: Pink, cats, stars, flowers, & Kawaii anything!! If you need help with my likes give me an email andI'll change something for you!!

sc 12/28/2006 #

Please put your 5 words here as a comment. xD Thank you!

I am still contemplating mine... hahaha I have a few more days to decide! xDDD

drewzel 12/28/2006 #

my words : pink, hello kitty, bunnies, chocolate, aqua.

Coffeelatte 12/28/2006 #

Here are my five: moon, star, mermaid, heart, cobalt (dark blue)

sc 12/28/2006 #

Coffeelatte, if we're partnered up please add your welsh corgi to the package? xD

Ahh, they are so adorable & smart! I hope to adopt one soon. :D

user3645 12/29/2006 #

Here are my five: Kawaii, Black, Flowers, Geisha, Cupcakes

zombuki 12/29/2006 #

My words: Squirrels, Deer, Twee, Turquoise, Quirky

greenwatermelon 12/29/2006 #

My words: Green, Sanrio, Star, Heart, Kitty :)

Coffeelatte 12/31/2006 #

Straycat -- oh, you are making me giddy with delight! Feel free to switch out any of my 5 with a corgi! I have a cardigan corgi (they are slightly different than the "Queen's dogs".) I love corgis, but they can be headstrong. We got matched with an excellent dog through a breeder here in Oregon -- he's on the more mellow side.

Lotus collector...I love your 5 words! I am a big fan of black and cupcakes, too...but never thought of them together. I can see something very wonderful with that list of 5, esp. with the geisha and flower combo.

Brigitte - "Twee"? I must be out of the loop...is that super sweet? I do "get" quirky.

sc 01/ 2/2007 #

Hi, guys! I hope you don't mind, but after some contemplation I thought it might be best to extend the swap due date because these 5 words might be a little tough to match!

Also, for that reason, you do not have to match all 5 words, but please do try! :)

The original send out date was January 20th. Would you rather it be February 1st or February 20th? Please let me know ASAP! ^^

This will be such a fun scavenger hunt type of swap!! I'm so excited about it! xD Thank you for signing up!!! ♥

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 2007 YAAAAY!

sc 01/ 2/2007 #

Coffeelatte~♥ oooo!! Any breed of corgi just owns my heart! If you have a flickr account with doggy photos, I would love to take a peek ;D

hmm, what is twee exactly? My brain automatically thought of tweed ha

Oh, here we go! yay for online dictionaries!

What type of decoration/style/characters would fall under twee? Any examples? :D

Coffeelatte 01/ 2/2007 #

My flickr link is listed on my swap-bot account...you can see my little corgi pup in the set called Corgiland. I also have a set of items I've sent for Swap-bot trades.

I just realized that I've got an upcoming trip for work that runs the 10th-17th of January, so I am very pleased to see this bumped out to the 20th of February!

user4946 01/ 2/2007 #

im totally in! Here are mine: cat, black, moon, scented, glitter.

sc 01/ 4/2007 #

Coffeelatte~♥ 2 gals on Flickr voted for February 1st. So I am making the date Feb. 10th as a compromise. Would that work well for you?? =crossing fingers= ^-^

bohemian_felt: Yay!!! oo those are good words!

sc 01/ 4/2007 #

My five words: rainbow, fruit, kawaii, 1960's, tropical

But those are quite challenging!! So really, I would be happy if even 1 were matched & the rest were surprises. ^-^

WillowTree21 01/ 4/2007 #

My words: Fairy-tales, Silver, Heart, Pisces, & Chintz (floral)

WillowTree21 01/ 4/2007 #

Eeek, "Twee" ???

I am not sure if Brigitte means Twee or Tweed, either way, "Twee" - It means excessively or affectedly quaint, sentimental or mawkish, sometimes coupled with words like nauseatingly. It’s a strongly negative word, and a very useful one, that is in common British use. It appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century to mean something dainty or sweet, a girly and gushing word. It appears to have developed from tweet, not the noise a bird makes, but a childish attempt at saying sweet. It might have been helped along by a feeling that it could be a blend of tiny and wee (Scots for small), though it isn’t.(I had help with that definition)

Twee is also used in - Twee pop is a type of indie pop that is known for simple, sweet melodies and lyrics, often combined with jangling guitars. While groups in this style had existed previously, twee pop was first recognised as a distinct genre in 1986, when a number of these bands, including Shop Assistants, Primal Scream and The Pastels, emerged simultaneously, and were showcased on C86, a compilation released by mail-order through New Musical Express.

Kind-of-need to know huh?

wolfmom2ac 01/ 4/2007 #

Wow!! Willow tree!! I have just had my word lesson for the day!! I have never heard fo twee!! I so must be behind in the word times!! But i like the word!! Let's have a twee swap!! Yuppers!I like the word!!

user4946 01/ 4/2007 #

im really excited for this one.

WillowTree21 01/ 4/2007 #

i don't have any feedback yet but i've signed up for this swap -- i have feedback on livejournal.com in the swap communities! i'd really love to participate in this swap so please let me know if that will be alright !! ~ thankyou!

sc 01/ 5/2007 #

thrifty lady, sure thing! just forward your lj feedback to me & somehow prove that the lj belongs to you. [ie post "KMS 5 words YAY!" in an entry, send me the link to it, & then i'll let you know i saw it & you can delete the ridiculous thing.] i am so so sorry for the hassle! it's just that people can take credit for journals that aren't theirs & all that horridness. >.<

ae4me 01/ 6/2007 #

My 5... Wire,Teal,Elephant,Moon&Soft.....enjoy!

lilylemon 01/ 7/2007 #

What size matchbox would be best?

cupcake 01/ 7/2007 #

My 5 Words ~ Sanrio, Stars, Mushrooms, Pink, Strawberries! :)

blackbiscuits 01/ 7/2007 #

My 5: hedgehogs, cupcakes, kawaii, polkadot, stripes Thank you partner!

lilylemon 01/ 7/2007 #

Okay, I'm in even though I've never done this and I'm not sure about the size of the box (it sounds like you're flexible but I'd just like to make sure it's not too small). Also, does the box get decorated according to the five words or is that up to us?

My five words are : silver, wings, horse, orange, and fox. (If fox is too hrad, substitute sparkly).

zombuki 01/ 8/2007 #

lol, it looks like I started a "twee" avalanche! It's British slang, meaning something similar to "kawaii" (as previously mentioned), though I never thought of it as a negative term. Very few people use it, I guess.

user5113 01/ 8/2007 #

ok my words, fairy, dragon, moon, goddess, pit bull ( if you can find one) If you have problems with these just contact me.

user4231 01/ 8/2007 #

silver, bird, egg, blue, nest.

i'd love any sort of tiny bird or egg-related stuff.. if this is too hard just let me know and i can give you some other words. yay! :)

123Poggy123 01/ 9/2007 #

Sounds like fun, can't wait to get started! Here are my 5 words:

chieffa 01/11/2007 #

Ooooopppssss!! Totally forgot about leaving my words:

aqua, cute lions, elephants, brown, books

Cheers!!

user4946 01/11/2007 #

i got airidane! just a question bud, by pit bull, you mean the actual dog, right? that's gonna be hard to fit into the other words ;)

user5113 01/11/2007 #

Ok so we get new partners now. And I liked my partner, already had some of the words. Oh well I am sure I will get another good one.

sc 01/11/2007 #

Airidane, this is because of people signing up for new swap-bot accounts, then signing up for swaps & not sending out their end. It's happened a lot in swap-bot. & with every KMS swap until this High Rating Rule.

So now, our options are: A) Risk new swap-bot members & those with low ratings join. Allow a couple of people to not receive their swaps. B) High Ratings or High Feedback from alternate source are the only people allowed to join.

Option B) is bit more of a hassle for newbies & me, but best for KMS, I believe.

lilylemon 01/11/2007 #

I'm a new member but I've already participated in (and sent out all items) for three swaps (opportunity. I think it's mean-spirited to mistrust new members. Also, shouldn't the swap coordinator have contacted and "uninvited" new members (or specified "no newbies") before the swap started? I sent a question to you, straycat, before the start of the swap. Why didn't you tell me at that time that I wouldn't be allowed to participate? This seems mean!

lilylemon 01/11/2007 #

Oops. I meant to finish saying that the opportunity to rate partners for the swaps I was in hasn't been posted yet.

sc 01/11/2007 #

Swap-Bot suggestion! They should ban users from signing up for new accounts if they have a history of three 3.0 ratings or lower. ie Not allowing someone with the same address to sign up over & over again for a new account. Which would be really sad for anyone else in the household who might want to join & is a good swapper, though... ugh. Nevermind. There is no end to the mess of deadbeats!

user5113 01/12/2007 #

Ok so its the 15th now right. I understand I am hosting a swap myself. Don't change the date again ok I am getting confused.LOL. I will be back.

user5113 01/12/2007 #

Ok so its the 15th now right. I understand I am hosting a swap myself. Don't change the date again ok I am getting confused.LOL. I will be back.

sc 01/12/2007 #

Airidane, yes I thought it would be best to push it to the 15th, so people can read the new rules & decide whether they would like to participate or not. The date will not be changed from here on out. Thanks so much for understanding!! <3

ae4me 01/12/2007 #

Hi Straycat, I have had multiple no sends as well as multiple no ratings left. It's not fair to people who want this little fun program to work. Those who lash out at you are guilty or have no clue what it's like to work hard and with love and adventure put together a swap you can only hope will make YOUR swap person feel special. And then have heard they never sent to someone or maybe you were mated with a non-sender. If newbie's want to swap and earn great ratings maybe they should have newbie only swaps and after 4 with 4. and above get to partisipate in all. Something like what you are doing has to happen or swap-bot will have no swappers. SO YIPPIE FOR YOU! FEEL GOOD Girl you hold the future of swapping in your hands!! connie

WillowTree21 01/12/2007 #

Ugh!! Grrr!!! I am a little upset, however I will get over it as fast as I got it!

So I now have to "prove" myself or that I am who I say I am? How do I go about doing this??? Please explain.

I understand that there have been people on swap-bot who haven't sent out things for whatever reason and has caused some issues. This in turn is now casuing problems for "New People" to swap bot!!!! Is that correct?

The thing is .... how is a new person supposed to "prove" thierself if they cant ever get in one?!?!?! It's like how is a guy to get a job if no body will hire him?

So now after I was excited about the person I had and wrote her five words down and started getting really great ideas, I am now not going to have that person? Is that correct?

Ohhhh and btw, there are only four(4) newbies in this group out of 25!!! Hmmmmmm

Rebecca in Texas

sc 01/12/2007 #

Willow Tree, I'm so sorry! I did not know I "banned" you, I just did a sweep of people with no ratings & didn't read the usernames. You are too twee to remove!! j/p ^-^ I like that word & don't consider it negative, from what I've read of it on the dictionary. It does not seem like a bad word. Then again, I haven't been around people who actually use it...

To simply prove their feedback belongs to them, one just adds, "KMS confirmed" somewhere on their profile. Ebay, livejournal, or Etsy. Then sends the link over here. That way we know they are not retrieving someone else's feedback. Is that okay?

Yes, everyone will have new partners.

Yes, there are only 4 [soon to be 5] newbies. Is there something wrong with this?

sc 01/12/2007 #

Connie, thanks for your feedback. (u.u) I was a little heart broken & hurt over the emails because I honestly want to work things out with everyone & have a happy & healthy swap! I am doing my best towards that. Your words helped me & I appreciate your taking the time to write that very much!

WillowTree21 01/12/2007 #

LOL .. negative as in .. like "sickingly sweet" LOL Had way too much of it or want a bunch hehehe "thats so twee" I lived in England for close to 4 years while in the military. Hehe

Nothing wrong with the "newbies" I am a one :::blush::: I was just thinking people don't have to be newbies to "not" send out like they should, you knwo what I mean?

Ok, no such I am understanding the KMS tingy though. I dont have Ebay, I haven't even started a blog thing and I don't sell items .. All I have right now is Flickr ... I am Willowtree there. I posted on one of your pics there as well. I just started Flickr the same time I am starting Swap-bot.

I pinky promise, I won't let you down!

Thanks alot for your help, I was getting really bummed. :(

:) Rebecca

WillowTree21 01/12/2007 #

replace "no such" with *not sure ..... :|

WillowTree21 01/12/2007 #

Ok I have to add this ... Connie, CONNIE, Connie .... heheheh ... last few days, I have been hoping "I don't let you down" ..... Wink <3

lilylemon 01/12/2007 #

Hey, eveyone! I feel I probably need to apologize publicly to straycat since I was a little (okay, a lot?)snippy in my email to her. Straycat, I didn't want you to feel attacked or put on the defensive -- I was just really hurt by the whole thing. I completely understand how disappointing it must be to put your heart into a swap and to get nothing in return (it sounds like I'll eventually find out, just as everyone else has!). I also understand you are trying to manage the swap in a fair and equitable way. I think I was more hurt by the swap-bot automatic "You are banned!!" email than by anything else. It made me feel like a criminal when I know that I will always uphold my end of the swap and put heart and soul into every swap I ever send! Now that we've talked a little, I see that the "banned" tag was not your wording or intention.

I really appreciate that you've turned it in to an opportunity for newbies to prove themselves and still, hopefully, participate in the swap. You need to know that it is the best, most awesome swap ever and that's why we all want to take part so much and why I was disappointed not to get to take part! :)

So, anyway, I'm sooooo sorry if you felt hurt by my hurt feelings.

Let me and any other newbies if you have any other questions, thoughts, concerns.

Thanks!!

WillowTree21 01/12/2007 #

Hello Everyone,

Before typing I have tried to think of all the pros and cons of mailing a parcel. What if I mail it and it doesn't get there? Wellll ... Hubby spoke out and said send it "Return Receipt". I hope no one is offened with me doing it this way. It will let me know you got your parcel so I can rest easy! :) Hubby said it is about 1.80 extra, he said don't quote him on that. But to me, it is going to be worth every penny!

XOXOX Rebecca

sc 01/12/2007 #

Rebecca, I do not know how return receipts work, but I know that confirmations are common to use! They are only $0.60 & ensure to everyone involved that the package was sent & received. I believe you can track it via confirmation, too. Good luck!! I'm sure no one will mind! ;)

sc 01/12/2007 #

If you are new to swap-bot & have no ratings, please know:

Only users with a high rating may join

If you are new to swap-bot, please provide an alternate form of feedback. With proof that the account belongs to you: ebay, livejournal, etsy, or someone with a high rating who can vouch that you are a good swapper.

http://flickr.com/groups/kawaiimatchboxswap/discuss/72157594432881047/

To prove an account belongs to you, simply add "KMS confirmed" in your ebay/livejournal/etsy profile or post & forward link references here.

If you do not do so by January 14th, the day before the end of joining deadline, I'm sorry but you will be removed from the swap.

user5683 01/12/2007 #

sc 01/14/2007 #

YAY!! :D So I think I solved the newbie/alternate feedback/load of hassle problem!!

In the future: All KMSwaps will be open to swap-bot members with high ratings only. But! They will be declared months ahead of time so newbies can garner feedback before joining.

example: www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/1849 Last day to signup/drop: April 15, 2007 Date items must be sent by: May 1, 2007 [The "Wish Theme" ...It's pretty much a kawaii free for all with a secret wish for your partner.]

What do you guys think? Does this solve the problem & save people time overall? Does it sound fair?

^-^ I'm looking forward to your input! Thanks for all your help & feedback!!

WillowTree21 01/14/2007 #

Ok I am still so confussed, YUP! thats me .....

I signed up for the "5 words" not "Kawaii" or KMS ....Ok people, don't Gasp when I say this, but I never heard of Kawaii until I signed up with swap-bot. :|

I see links for the Kawaii above but I don't see where within the rules anything about Kawaii. I looked up the word Kawaii and it seems to be things that are like Hello Kitty.

Help! Someone please explain this.

sc 01/14/2007 #

oh KMS is just the name of the group that hosts some of these matchbox swaps. Because for us, it all started with kawaii matchbox swapping.

This swap = 5 Words Theme, not required to be kawaii unless it's in your partner's 5 words

KMS V-day Theme = Kawaii Valentine's Day Theme

KMS = Kawaii Matchbox Swap, the group on Flickr, LJ, & Swap-Bot

I hope that helps a little...? Still confusing?

sc 01/14/2007 #

P.S. "Kawaii" is best seen in action here: http://flickr.com/groups/kawaiimatchboxswap/

xD Most people on here know eachother via "kawaii" groups on lj & flickr! ^-^ I don't know if it's something you could like or not... But if you're interested & I was your partner, I would love to introduce you to kawaii goodies!! ♥

It's pretty much Japanese cute. It could be anything, even a person! But in kawaii groups, it usually refers to products from Japan that are outstandingly cute.

user4946 01/15/2007 #

wow what happened? we are starting all over again with the partners? well that sucks, i had my package ready to go to airidane and now you tell me im gonna get another different 5 words theme? no, that's not cool at all. count me out.

sc 01/15/2007 #

bohemian_felt, I am so sorry! Did you not receive all of the emails? I sent them out immediately, on the original day of signups/drops. I'm sorry for the trouble.

zombuki 01/16/2007 #

I have 2 partners now o___O what's going on?!

user5113 01/16/2007 #

I have 2 partners too whats up with that

KristinaO 01/16/2007 #

I personally don't mind having 2 partners.

lilylemon 01/16/2007 #

I think swap-bot didn't delete the original partners from before the fiasco. I think you're probably supposed to send only to the name sent to you today.

sc 01/16/2007 #

After seeing Bohemian_Felt's complaint, I'm leaving this one up to you guys! :) It's your call, vote now until the end of January 16th: *Send your swap to 2 partners, or only the latest 1?*

sc 01/16/2007 #

Personally, I'm okay with 2. That way it covers whatever anyone has a problem with.

sc 01/16/2007 #

Thank you for the heads up, Lily!!! ♥

WillowTree21 01/16/2007 #

I just had a talk with my husband ... kind of got his "outsider looking in, point of view." I might add he is a very good man! :) I am sending two (2)! First off, I already had one person's information written down and ideas to boot! The second point of veiw is, "this is fun", right?!? The 3rd point of view is, it doesn't have to be mailed out until Feb 10th. So, since it is now left up to us, :| ..... and regardless of if I get one in turn or two, I am still sending out two! :)

Love from Me!, Willow Tree

KristinaO 01/16/2007 #

I will be sending to both my partners. I don't know where the mix up was exactly but I personally love making these little boxes and I always sign up for all the ones people do. Pluse you have plenty of time to do them.

sc 01/16/2007 #

Willow Tree, you're absolutely right! It is fun! ♥ Sorry, I have been burnt out by things. But these little matchbox swaps are a pleasure to put together & I've gotten to know incredible people from it! BlackBiscuit, Girlee Girl, WolfMom2AC, Bridgitte, Lily, Connie, everyone !! I need to reply to some really kind emails, too. ^-^ It's been hectic, as I'm out of town again for the next 2 weeks. So I really appreciate all the input & answers to Q's that members have taken the time to answer. Actually, I love KMS! So many people are willing to help out, it's the best swap group I've ever participated in. Thanks guys, I hope in the end, you have a really good time with 5 Words!! :)

WillowTree21 01/16/2007 #

LOL, My mother isn't the computer sort ... If I didn't live 1300 miles from her, she would be in this too, and man I would love to get a swap from her :o :). So in our little emails, we started a swap .. our first one was just buttons to get her into the ideal and basics, now our 2nd on is "5 Words"! Now what does that say? :) Glad to have met you Straycat and Everyone! Off to bed and in the morning I want to make a ribbon fish and clean up a mess! LOL Sometimes all those punches you get still doesn't break the mold, which holds your love for human kind :) I understand fully Staycat. Until later, Night.

Love from Me!, Willow Tree

WillowTree21 01/16/2007 #

Oh, her words .. to me were Love, Peace, health, Hope and Forgiveness! Go figure! I have a bunch of ideas to knock her socks off! LOL But if you have any others feel free to spill your guts. She thinks she is tricky heheheh

sc 01/16/2007 #

Ooo I think there are some very cute rubber stamps out there with the words love, peace, health, & hope in Chinese! I don't know about forgiveness, though... That's a toughy! So glad to meet you, too, Willow Tree! :)

Remember guys! It doesn't have to be a matchbox, as those can be hard to find. You can use a tiny candy box, a small jewelry box, a small whatever box, really, as long as it ends up nicely decorated! ^-^

I just got my partners' words! :O lol This will be one fun challenge!! I have fair ideas for all of them except 2 words... xD Oh, man, talk about curve balls.

blackbiscuits 01/16/2007 #

I think I'm going to send to both partners since it doesn't cost that much to mail 2 boxes! (besides, one's a friend on Flickr!)

lilylemon 01/16/2007 #

I'll send to both partners.:)

lilylemon 01/16/2007 #

Just a thought, though. If swappers aren't going to send to both partners, the second name sent last night (1/15) should be the official partner you send to. The reason is that the first partner might have been removed or dropped out during the mixup. It would still be fun and kind to send that person a swap but the second set of names are the people who made it though the background check. :) What if the first person who got my name, for example, thinks the second partner has "better" words and she chooses to swap with the second partner but the second person who got my name decides the same about hte first partner ans sends to her, I might get nothing. So, maybe you must send to the partner sent to you last night; optional to send to original partner. (Although it seems an easy, fun task for us all to send to both!) Thanks for hearing me out!

zombuki 01/16/2007 #

I really liked my original partner so I'm glad to still have her - I just wanted to make sure we should send to both!

WillowTree21 01/16/2007 #

Good point Lily Lemon, I am not even sure my first partner is still in the swap :| I can't see the list of names fully when I veiw the list. Hmmm, Ok Straycat, is "Tickled Pink" still in?

wolfmom2ac 01/16/2007 #

my swap partner didn't leave their 5 words!! I would like to send to both partners but second partner didn't leave 5 words. Does this mean I have to guess? I'm emailing person to find out!! I hate being the last to know these things!! I guess that's what I get for being on the West Coast in California!!

wolfmom2ac 01/16/2007 #

I found my partners 5 words!! I had some how missed them!! They were buried in all of the feedback mess!! Sorry partner!! but I did find you!!

sc 01/16/2007 #

using "ctrl + f" keys can help you locate your partner's 5 words! that way you don't have to read the entire page & manually search for them. ^-^ Just a tip!

sc 01/16/2007 #

Willow Tree: TickledPink didn't reply when asked for alternate feedback... >.< So she is not in. But hopefully in the future, when she garners some feedback, she'll rejoin another KMS! :)

sc 01/16/2007 #

Serene_Serenade: Welcome back! I hope you have a fun swap. :)

lilylemon 01/16/2007 #

The second partner is the one listed on the top.

WillowTree21 01/16/2007 #

Sounds stupid I know, but I have to ask, then I shouldn't send to Tickled Pink?

PaisleyBabe 01/17/2007 #

I know I'm late, sorry. Here's my 5 words: Paisley, Keys, Retro, Red and Beads.

greenwatermelon 01/17/2007 #

I thought we were only supposed to have one partner... and if we only send out one matchbox, then won't someone be left without one? :/ which would result in a bad rating?

sc 01/17/2007 #

Edited & reposted:

If you are only able to send to one partner, please send to your second partner. Which is the one on top. [Thank you, Lily!]

If possible, though, please send to both partners!
Unless one of your partners is not listed in the complete list of swap participants. Then they are not participating in this swap at all & there is no need to send them a matchbox.

Terribly sorry for the confusion & technical difficulties. I hope you don't mind... :( But you may make a couple of lovely friends from all this!! :)

sc 01/17/2007 #

Willow Tree: No, you don't have to send anything to Tickled Pink. She is not in the swap.

Shelly: I think we're just trying to work with a swap-bot glitch right now, the best we can. Right now I'm not sure if everyone has "2 partners" or if some people do & some don't.

Even if you send out only one matchbox, everyone who is on the official participants list will receive one. The required partner is the one listed on top.

If everyone who has 2 partners sends out two, then most people will receive 2 matchboxes. This is because some people have dropped or been removed before the 2nd sign up/drop date of January 15th.

Lily Lemon: Quite sure it's the one on top? heh So confusing! I cannot tell because I did not know who my first partner was, in the rush to try to fix things before everyone knew who their partner was. [Alas, to no avail!]

sc 01/17/2007 #

This swap is NOT required to be kawaii. Unless "kawaii" is actually in your partner's 5 words.

Some words may be difficult to find, so if you need to ask your partner to give a couple of alternate words, please feel free to.

Enjoy your scavenger hunt!! :)

sc 01/17/2007 #

I just checked---the newcomers who joined after Jan. 10th only have one partner.

Since only most people who send out to 2 will receive 2 matchboxes, it is optional . It's all up to you & your preference, since so many people really liked their first partner. ^-^

The required partner is listed on top , if you have a list of 2. [Everyone's sure their first partner is the one on the bottom? It's the newest/latest partner that is required, basically!]

sc 01/17/2007 #

PaisleyBabe, no problem! Thanks for posting them. Those are some fun words! :) I love paisleys, too! Especially on skinny neckties.

user5258 01/17/2007 #

My 5 words are: Red, star, funky, sparkle, sweet.

user4231 01/18/2007 #

okay... i'm slightly confused. my original partner is the one on top, and my partner from the second go-round is on the bottom.

i am just going to send to both, though. i hope everyone else with two partners will try to send to both as well. :)

lilylemon 01/18/2007 #

How odd, victoriafee -- it's the opposite for me! Hopefully, everyone will send to both. I'm guessing they will -- I'm sure we all signed up 'caues we think this is fun!

Coffeelatte 01/19/2007 #

I've just got back from a week out of the country for a business trip, and I am still a little confused by all that's gone one. But -- to keep it simple -- I am going to send to both my assigned partners.

greenwatermelon 01/20/2007 #

Sent mine this morning :) Its not traveling very far (in the same state!) so it should be there by tomorrow, or monday :) Hope it gets there safely, and you like it!

user3645 01/20/2007 #

I'm sending to both partners. Hopefully I will get two back but if not I know that I enjoyed the swap so much that it was worth the hunt for items.

What is the flickr group name. I would love to join. I have a livejournal account too but haven't seen a kawaii group there. Can anyone give me the group names?

WillowTree21 01/20/2007 #

Now that was a challenge!!!!! Goodness!!!! I can't say more than that right now .... But that was one heck of a challenge to fit those 5 words in that small little box !!! LOL ok, they didn't all go in the box! They won't fit .. sending Monday :)

4getmenot71 01/20/2007 #

Thanks for the welcome, straycat! :) I hope my partner gets her box soon, as I worked really hard on it! :)

zombuki 01/22/2007 #

One sent, one to go!

lilylemon 01/22/2007 #

I sent one out today (to my "non-officail" partner) and I'll send out my other matchbox as soon as a goodie I ordered for it comes in the mail.

greenwatermelon 01/23/2007 #

Got my matchbox today from serene_serenade! Thank you :) I love the heart ribbon and the hello kitty tatoos!

blackbiscuits 01/26/2007 #

I received a matchbox from Kristina yesterday. I adore the sticker flakes so much! Thank you!!

lilylemon 01/27/2007 #

Okay! Both of my matchboxes are on the way. Partners, let me know when they arrive! :)

Shelly;

Thank you so much for letting me know. :) I am glad you liked it!

mrsskordas13 01/27/2007 #

It would be really nice to see if my partner recieved my swap,I got my delivery confirmation from the postal service but she hasnt posted here. Is it customary to post a comment when you recieve it? I'm new to this.

sc 01/28/2007 #

Helloitsme: You're more than welcome to contact your partner directly. There's no formal custom to post a public thanks, though it's nice.

As for me, I'm away from home for a few more days. So I won't be able to say anything to anyone about what's been received & what hasn't until I get back. Sorry, busy helping my parents move.

drewzel 01/29/2007 #

Just as well I checked again here, I didn't know we have 2 partners now?
Off to build another matchbox....

Kristina O - got yours today. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love it! Especially the little chocolate stickers!!! :)

123Poggy123 01/30/2007 #

Connie, I received your swap today. I enjoyed going thru everything. It was not late. Thank you!

WillowTree21 01/31/2007 #

I'm not sure whats worse, waiting on a package or waiting to find out if your swap partner got their parcel!

Waiting to find out if they got the parcel, Yep, thats the worse!

user3645 02/ 9/2007 #

K. Lightfoot and Tirabaralla, you package is on the way!!!! Mailed 10 Feb. 2007 from California

user2034 02/13/2007 #

I sent to both partners last week. Hope the mini-packages will arrive soon ^_^

BlackBiscuits: Grazie! Once more u have been a looovely swap partner! :)

I'm gonna leave for Ireland, tomorrow, and I'll stay there for 2 weeks, so I'll leave my feedbacks March firts, ok?

TY again :)

PaisleyBabe 02/14/2007 #

Lotus Collector - Citizen of Earth: I received your amazing package yesterday! Thank you so much for all of the awesome stuff!! You rock!! :)

PaisleyBabe 02/14/2007 #

BrUsY MiLoNGui - I will be mailing your package tomorrow. I know, I am a little late and I'm so very sorry! I have been really sick the past week and then we got a freak snow storm today that dumped lots of snow. I will be sending it priority, so hopefully it will get there fast.

sc 02/14/2007 #

I have been travelling all over California! >.< I'm so scrambled right now. I prepared my 2 swaps a couple of weeks ago & they just got bigger & bigger than I meant for them to be! My mother said she'd mail them off for me, as I had to leave for LA, then SF, then several other cities. I'm so sorry they are not in actual matchboxes! I couldn't find any while on the road & things have been rather hectic. I hope you like the things I sent, though! ♥ One or two items are bigger than the box, because I just couldn't resist.

LOTS of love!!

P.S. Connie, I was home for 3 days last week & received your very fun package!!! I love the bookmark & letters the most!!! But everything was truly smashing. Thank you!!! ♥

ae4me 02/15/2007 #

Hi, Helloitsme, I really enjoyed your great picks for my 5 little words... In these swaps to be able to rate someone you have to wait untill 5or more days after the swap ending date to rate someone it'll popup when you veiw your swap information. Maybe on the 15th it'll show up. Bur I can tell you I loved it a lot and thank-you for the great package. Connie P.S. Glad to read that straycat you got your package...

lilylemon 02/16/2007 #

I haven't received any yet :(. Since swappers with up to 7 no-sends were allowed in, I do hope I will receive at least one since I sent out both of mine.

Coffeelatte 02/17/2007 #

I've received both my boxes and posted swap ratings today -- thank you both.

Coffeelatte 02/17/2007 #

Lily Lemon - You should be able to see your partners names now and are able to send them a message asking when they sent. I've found with some "not sent" that this is the fastest way to get your partner to take care of their commitment. Just a gentle reminder that you are their partner and are waiting will often get someone who has procrastinated to make and effort and get their package out in the mail. Or at least make them feel guilty. And, if they are in the middle of a legit emergency, they will be reminded that they really should communicate with their swap partners about what is going on. Personally, I am always willing to wait if there is good communication...but it makes me really unhappy if a partner just ignores me...

lilylemon 02/17/2007 #

Thanks, Coffeelatte. It looks like my first partner didn't rejoin after the mix-up, so my best hope is that I'll get at least one. It looks like my "official" partner is in another country, so it may take a while longer. Oh, well... I'll keep waiting, as I'm sure it'll be worth it! :)

lilylemon 02/17/2007 #

Oh, so just to clarify: if anyone else had a "first" partner who did not rejoin after the mix-up that person should not be rated, as it wouldn't be fair to receive a "no send" for a swap that you dropped out of.

WillowTree21 02/17/2007 #

I don't know which of the two was the person to send to me. I don't think both people should have to send to me. Can you tell me when I rate, is it the top person or the bottom one who is the official person? Being I haven't received from either of the two, I don't know which one it is. I won't rate until 10 to 14 days after the send by date to allow time for shipping .... I however would have said something to my partner by now. :)

My official person was Poggy123, since my other one dropped out. We have communicated through e-mail and I know she got hers. :)

lilylemon 02/18/2007 #

Willow Tree -- Are both the names in the complete list of swap participants? If one of the two partners is not still on the list, that partner should not be rated. If they\'re both still on the list, they probably both should be rated as it seems it was agreed upon (in the comments section) sending to both partners. See, there\'s still an aftermath of having banned partners after the satart of the swap, reassigning, etc. People are left confused, people who sent to two people only get one (like me), etc. To anyone planning to coordinate a swap in the future, remember this and try to avoid ! :)

Any other ideas on this, anyone?

sc 02/20/2007 #

Lily Lemon: The new swap-bot editions allow coordinators to \"ban\" users even after a sign-up deadline, which REALLY helps! They are also able to assign partners & contact people via swap-bot instead of via-email, which is great. None of these things were available before, when this swap was coordinated.

sc 02/20/2007 #

Lily Lemon: May I ask who is it that has up to 7 no-sends & was allowed to join? If you don\'t mind receiving a small make-up gift from me, I would be happy to send a few of your words to you.

user4946 02/21/2007 #

lily lemon: i wasnt very happy when the changes for this swap happened so i quit. what\'s been happening now is that a bud from this swap was expecting a matchbox from me and didnt notice i was already off the participants list. so she rated me 1. how uncool is that?

sc 02/21/2007 #

whoooa, okay, bohemian_felt, it is being dealt with.

sc 02/22/2007 #

FYI

DO NOT SEND to partners who are not on the current Participants List.

They are NOT signed up for this swap & are NOT sending anything out to anyone.

lilylemon 02/22/2007 #

And don\'t rate them!

WillowTree21 02/22/2007 #

Feb 10th was send by date. On Feb 24th (Sat) I will rate. That has allowed 14 days including weekends for mail. I have not read anything or received an e-mail from ether person. I still don\'t think the bottom person should have to send to me. The person who I sent to on the bottom was my first partner, she then dropped and the new one was added to the top, thus I think the TOP person is the one to send to me.

Drewzel is on bottom and heartsnyou is on top.

Sorry if it comes off rude, but this has put in me in a bad mood!

lilylemon 02/22/2007 #

I didn\'t receive anything yet, either. One partner dropped; the other partner has communicated that it\'s on the way.

lilylemon 02/22/2007 #

BTW, Willow Tree, the one on top (of list to send to me)is the one that dropped, but on my list the one on top was the second \"official\" partner. So I\'m not sure if it\'s uniform (top means first, bottom means second). Since niether of the partners who are sending to you dropped, you probably should expect a swap from both of them (since we discussed it here and agreed it was fun and easy to send to both). If in doubt, email them and ask them. I saw one of my partners dropped, so I am not expecting a swap or rating her. The other partner did not drop, so i am expecting a swap and will be rating (like you, I\'ll rate on the 24th. that should be enough time!:))

WillowTree21 02/22/2007 #

I join a \"personal\" swap like this one and get brushed off ... non-personal swaps are the ones most people just send off whatever. Although even in those I read my partners profile and visit their web pages to get a better feel for what they like. This one was for each persons own personal 5 words. Where are some peoples hearts! I said some, I know there\'s good people out there. :)

Honestly, Lily Lemon, why should I hold their hands and e-mail them for a swap they aggreed to enter? I\'m a really compassionate person but there\'s got to be a line drawn to. Right?

I read what I typed 60 times wondering if I should post and if your reading, I did!

WillowTree21 02/22/2007 #

In other swaps I said I would e-mail ... I was torqued earlier .. and compassion is \"trying\" to over ride.

lilylemon 02/22/2007 #

I didn\'t mean you should hold their hands! I wouldn\'t either !:) I meant: since both the partners who sent to you are both still in the swap, they both should send to you; you still could send an email to them and say, \"hey, where\'s my swap?\" (Which is kinda what I did). I\'m just a little miffed because I initially got banned from the swap for being a newbie (as did you, I think) but here I am, having sent out two high quality matchboxes and getting nothing (so far) in return. So, newbies aren\'t necessarily the criminals we\'re made out to be! BTW, it was not a newbie who failed to send to me -- it was a seasoned swapper! She says it\'s on the way but it\'s now the 22nd so it was sent late or not at all (and, for the record, I don\'t think sending late is okay, either, unless you notify your partner there\'s a problem).

WillowTree21 02/22/2007 #

Lily Lemon after today, would you like to have a cup a tea with me? I have milk or cream and suagr! :) Phewwwwww

lilylemon 02/23/2007 #

Yes, I would! :)

PaisleyBabe 02/24/2007 #

BrUsY MiLoNGui - Have you received my package yet? I mailed it on February 15th via Global Priority. I hope it makes it there safely!

lilylemon 02/24/2007 #

Okay, it's exactly two weeks after the send date so I'm officially not receiveing anything, I guess (one whole month after the start of the swap). I just don't understand how someone can feel just fine with taking but not giving in return.

WillowTree21 02/25/2007 #

http://www.flickr.com/groups/whole-lotta-swappa/

if you want to, you can click for an invite, but send admins something that will help us see you have the 5 ratio. Perhaps copy and paste. :)

WillowTree21 02/26/2007 #

I still haven't rated ....

lilylemon 02/27/2007 #

I haven't either. She says it's on the way but it couldn't possibly have been sent out on time. This is my first swap-bot disappointment :(

PaisleyBabe 02/28/2007 #

I am disappointed and frustrated as well. The person that I sent my matchbox to seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. I spent a lot of time and money on her box. Argh.... She hasn't contacted me since we were still giving out our 5 words. I have talked with the person that was supposed to receive a box from her for 2 different swaps (this one and another). She has not received anything and has not heard anything from her either. What a bummer!

sc 02/28/2007 #

Rating your partner who has not sent you anything---Go ahead and give them a 1 with the date you post it because it is important for coordinators to know, "This person is unreliable, their most recent swap was not sent out, & there was no communication about it being late." If you feel nice, you can offer to change it once your package does arrive.

The reason for the rating requirement is because KMS has had scammers sign up for new accounts & sign up to swap. There is an entire list of these people who just delete their profiles after stealing from people.

ie http://www.swap-bot.com/member/?id=5087

The filtering isn't perfect, no one can know each & every person signing up. With my first swap coordination, I asked each person individually if they absolutely promised to send their swap out, on their good word I trusted them, newbies & all-through two swaps-& still there were thefts occurring.

Coordinators can only do their humanly best to assure a healthy, fair swap, but it boils down to the people signing up. Many coordinators do not communicate except to answer swap inquiries & do not care whether everyone receives their package or not.

It appears that Lily Lemon & Willow Tree have yet to receive a package from their 5 words partner. I will message them & follow up on that.

sc 02/28/2007 #

If you would like someone to fairy your swap, step in & send you your 5 words out of the kindness of their heart, please let me know!

It's already been worked out for Airidane, who sent out 2 swaps & only received one in return.

lilylemon 02/28/2007 #

Yay! I got one!!!Thanks, Chieffa!

sc 03/ 4/2007 #

If you have not received your swap, please let us know now! Also state the username of the partner who did not send. Thank you!

Just in case you have received your swap since any earlier comments. Any comments responding to this will be handled as best as possible.

lilylemon 03/ 4/2007 #

I'd like to know if on swap-bot that items sent late without any communication are generally considered to have met swap requirements. If a swapper doesn't send until well after the posted send by date, what's the protocol?

I'm just surpried that someone would receive a swap from me (several days after swap start)and have no qualms about not sending me something until a good month after the swap has been underway. Does it really take six weeks to do a small matchbox? I had to email her to find out where it was, which really took all the fun away.

It seems like, if you're sending late (especially from a country known for its slow postal service), the courteous thing would be to let your partner know. I really put my heart and soul into both matchboxes I sent out. In return, one swap partner I sent to didn't even rate me and the other one I sent to sent me a mediocre matchbox several weeks late in return.(Yes, coincidentally, the person I sent to also had me as a partner.)

I spent a lot of money on those matchboxes and got very little in return ( normally I would say brightening someone else's day makes it all worth it, even if you don't receive in return but I don't feel any appreciation on the part of the people I sent to).

Next time you run a swap, I think you need to re-think your stance on newbies (and check other swappers' profiles carefully since some pretty bad swappers were allowed in). It looks like all newbies sent out but weren't necessarily sent to (and the swappers who didn't send were established swappers).

Also, by switching swap partners, you created a situation in which some people sent two but only got one. Also, it's possible that if swappers didn't check back often, they might not even have known they were assigned a second partner. What if my partner didn't even know until the send by date that she was supposed to send to me?

Just a few things to think about. After experiencing didappointments in this swap, in the swap I just coordinated, the moment I saw anyone get a no send rating, I arranged for swap fairies to fill in and send to that person's partner. That way, someone who would have been left out got a swap well before the swap was over, not six weeks later. It also takes the fun out of it for people in this swap (like WillowTree, maybe. I think she still didn't recevie anything) to have to say at this point, "I din't receive anything. Plese send me a swap fairy).

WillowTree21 03/ 4/2007 #

LOL, today is March 4th, I received a matchbox with my 5 words in it on Friday, March 2nd. There is no postmark, however, the person who did send to me e-mailed me after I threw a fit! LOL We have done other things with each other (swaps) and I hope things between us will remaining friendly. I do know it was sent way after the send by date, and I must rate according to that.

I like all the things shesent me too! Thank you. :)

Lily, I have a few spring things I must get done, i.e. outside work and housework. I dropped from MANY of my swaps an I will finish up the ones I am in. Then I will like to join some others that perhaps could be WLS or just plan old honest swappers. When I am ready I will hunt you down! lol :) Hang in there hun.

sc 03/26/2007 #

Sometimes people send but do not click the "sent" button... and often people do NOT send, and yet still click the sent button... Asking for a clarification on who has yet to receive theirs isn't such a bad thing. I'm sorry it took all the fun out of it for you.
