Description:

I got this idea from @hull33 who apparently got the idea from @Ginger4520 So I acknowledge both.

You're going to create a fiction journal. Any journal or notebook from the store is fine as long as you have 30 entries of everyday survival, your 2 title pages and your map. It can be any size paper.

Here’s the scenario: Choose your own world ending disaster, whether it is plague, war, ecology, science, zombies, magic or alien invaders.

It's been months since the world ended. There is still hope for a cure and survivors are sparse across the world trying to find safety in numbers or on their own. You are one of those survivors. You have hope for a cure and a better tomorrow and you want your memory to live on. Each night you survive this hell, you take time to jot down a memory to preserve it, just in case there is no tomorrow. Just in case you don't make it, that it might find it's way into the hands of someone who can use it to survive.

For extra credit (but not necessary), you can embellish your notebook to look like it has been through a war. Not all nice and neat. (wrinkled pages, dirty finger prints or corners ripped maybe some red fingernail polish to make blood drips or smears)

On the first page tell us who you are:

Name:

Location:

Days Since The apocalypse Started:

Date:

How many people in your group:

         Adults:

          Children:

On the second page tell us if you stayed in your home and boarded up or did you go on the move and stay where you find safety or you went to a bug out location or did you find a secure place to take over and stay.

Each page after that you will date in order for one month and write 2 or three sentences on how that days survival went. Did you lose someone? Did you eat that day? Did you see any zombies, kill any? Heck it can even be a flash back memory to something before the invasion. Make each entry 2 or 3 sentences

This is a creative writing project. Use your imagination and let your thoughts flow. Please keep it to a few sentences for each page so that you don't run out of room for your book. Basically try not to exceed one page for each entry. You may use front and back of one page if you choose. Example:

Also you will have a map in your journal. You can draw it to show where you hide out is and the routes you go to get water or search for food. Or if you feel real ambitious you can get a city map that shows the streets and map your route and show the houses that you have searched for survival.

At the end of 30 days, you will end your book however you see fit. Wrap your journal in brown paper (you can get a brown paper bag from the grocery store) and send it to your partner.

In the notebook you will have some extra pages. Feel free to doodle or draw things you miss before the apocalypse started.

I'm giving plenty of time to do this project. Also you don't need to wait to be assigned partners to get started. Do not join if you have the slightest doubt that you will not be able to commit to this. No recent or unexplained 1's or 3's. I reserve the right to remove anyone I find questionable or that does not have a well filled out profile. When you receive your journal, you should rate your partner with a 5 if: You received your swap within the time limit. The swap contains 30 dated entries and meets the criteria of the swap.

This looks intense but FUN! I created a post-apocalyptic world for one of my YA novels and would love to explore this period right after the war with different characters. You mention zombies, cures, etc. I don't have any of that in my world (it was a techno war that wiped out much of the population and forced an entirely new culture & system of government). Is it all right that I'll have to do my own zombie-less spin on things as long as it's definitely post-apocalyptic?

Definitely any disaster you wish to envision! I think it will be interesting to see what your partner comes up with as well as their own spin on it.

Go, Kate! Get to writing!

Oh yes, I want to make it clear that any genre is allowed too. Fantasy, sci-fi, horror, or whatever.

Exxxxxxxxcellent! I'm already mapping bits out in my head. Thanks!
