Description:

Greetings Sisters.

(Skip to bottom for requirements) There are 4 types of animal guides: the Messenger guide, the Shadow guide, the Journey guide and the Life guide (spirit guide).

The messenger guide comes quickly into your life, then leaves once the message is understood. The shadow guide invades you with fear with the purpose of teaching you a lesson you have not learned from repeated mistakes. The journey guide appears at the fork in the road of your life, to help guide you into making the right decision, down the right path. And the life guide is your spirit guide, in that it remains with you throughout life and is a reflection of your true, inner-spiritual self. You may have more than one life guide and new ones may come during an unexpected time. Usually a life guide does not move away or disappear but remains an integral part of your life, however, there are instances when a particular life guide is no longer needed and is replaced with a new one. Its powers are always there for you and serve as a constant reminder of your inner powers and oneness with nature. A life guide will often call upon other animal guides found within its domain to assist in giving you special messages from time to time.

You do not choose a Spirit Guide as your personal spirit guide. The Spirit chooses you and they decide to whom they will reveal themselves and make their friend. Do not fall into the trap of saying, “Gosh, I think the wolf is a smart, good looking and powerful animal, so the wolf will become my animal guide.” It does not work this way. Each animal has its own medicine which is unique to that specific creature as gifted by the Great Mystery and its spirit cannot be chosen like the color of your new car. Discovering who your animal guides are is a process of paying attention to the spirits around you and following the signs. It is a process of developing your inner knowledge and spiritual understanding. What happens if you want an animal spirit so bad you can taste it (not literally) and one has not come to you? First, pray about it. Second, be satisfied with whatever happens or does not happen. If if comes, then it comes. If it does not, then it does not. End of question. ~Manataka

(Requirements) This swap will be entirely based around your animal LIFE GUIDE (lifelong spirit guide). Some of you may have only identified one animal, while others may be blessed with the companionship of many. Comment below what animal is your spirit guide. If you have more than one, you may list them. Just try to keep it below 3 animals. You will have one partner, to whom you must send a small/medium, square box filled with items related to their spirit animal. You can find an old box and use that, or purchase a box from Staples, etc. Please do not use the USPS priority rate small boxes- they are entirely TOO small, and the long, flat shape limits what you can send. If you feel you must use a flat rate box, please jump up to the MEDIUM size, as it will hold a fair amount of items with packing peanuts. There is no price limit on this swap, but you MUST send quality items, and a fair mix of things, not a bunch of the same item. Please check your partner's profile for allergies if you plan to send food/tea or body products. Also be mindful of BLATANT DISLIKES. This means you should read your partner's profile. Yes, it is sender's choice, but you should still know the person you are sending such a beautiful swap to. Package your items so they do not break, and make sure the address is legible.

You can send ANYTHING you feel relates to their spirit animal. Examples include mail art, atc's, PC's, cards, washi tape, candles, pocket letters, ephemera, stickers, books, calender's, key chains, bath products or makeup that reminds you of their spirit animal (like ocean/beachy scents for dolphin, fish, etc. or exfoliating scrub for alligator, hah!) crystals or herbs related to their animal, tea, rituals, spells, etc. Be creative and be thoughtful.

This is a very special and spiritual swap, so you will have lots of time to prepare. I don't want us hastily throwing together cheap items last minute. Take your time to find wonderful things to send to your partner. Flaking will result in immediate removal from the group and your name posted in the Hall of Shame forum thread. Sending late will result in a temporary group swap ban for an undetermined amount of time. Please message the group founder @Tiffaknee with any questions or concerns. Have fun!!!

I have three confirmed animal Spirit guides. You may send things related to all 3, or just one of them, I don't mind. :) One is bats. In particular, the Megabat (Pteropodidae) came to me in a dream last Summer. It was very vivid and shifted me forever. And I have found and saved many little North American brown/black bats in extremely odd places, at very odd times, throughout my life. I never realized they were my life guides until last year. Another is cats. I feel I can telepathically communicate with them (lol). And lastly, the monarch butterfly. I stumbled upon a beautiful monarch caterpillars in an unexpected place, and just knew it would be with me for life. It also taught me a nice lesson that day. :)

Ah, good way to focus on which guide to work with in this swap. I have worked with them for all my life. And THE one who is always with me is a Black Wolf. While it is true that they choose us, sometimes I open myself to the energy and one comes to me in the darndest ways. I almost blush to be such a cliche, however most Wolves are seen in other colors, and the one who comes to me in my dreams with her yellow eyes and snarling teeth and breath in my face, is clearly black. Interesting that this swap brings her back.

I have two animal spirit guides. The first of the two are bats, they have transformed my life and led me in ways that I can't even put into words. I've had them showing up in my bedroom in various places I've lived since I was just 6 years old. These have always been Brazilian free-tailed bats. In dreams I have seen all types, but mostly flying foxes.

The other is a humming bird. I lost my mom when I was young and I truly believe these show up around me at some of my weakest moments as messages from her. When I was really young we saw one being attacked by a group of blue jays. We went and retrieved it and my mom and I sat with it, feeding it from her feeder and taking care of it until it eventually felt well enough to fly away. He was really distinctive and would return each year and use the feeder we nursed him back to health from...he was also very territorial over it and would chase off others. This swap is going to be so much fun! It already is lol.

I've had different ones come in at different times of my life but there are a few that have always stayed with me. The first and Dominant Spirit Guide Has always been the Raven. My Secondary, The Wolf (White). My Third, The Owl (Barn Owl).

I look forward to this swap!

Wow thank you do much for the beautiful description above, it all helps me to pull and place the feelings and interactions Ive had and helps me to make sense of it.

My user name is actually based off my guide, urocyon cinereoargenteus - the gray fox. I come across them alot when I go hiking, I see them in my yard at the end of the brushline at dusk (I feel they are protecting me) and they tend to visit my dreams. When I suffered from insomnia as a child I use to close my eyes and think about a hand petting a fox, I was never sure if it was my hand petting a familiar fox or if I was the fox itself being comforted. It always helped me to calm myself. Now that I'm older I feel that the fox may have been me as a child but now that I'm grown the fox I pet before I sleep is me comforting my spirit. I feel a connection with all foxes, but as I said more specifically the gray is my point of comfort and my guide to self realization. One two different occasions while debating certain decisions in my life I've had them dart out in front of my car as a reminder to stay focused.

My second is the eastern box turtle. Meeting these guys is like meeting a unicorn to me. While they use to be very common and prevalent They have become rare and sacred to me. I'm not sure if they're one of my spirit guides but they have an overwhelming effect on me and I admire and adore them. They always bring my mind ease and clarity and although I don't ever see them as much as I use to, knowing that some still wander the forest puts my mind at ease.

My life guide is the snowy owl. He's a massive bird, with the whitest feathers and the black spots - his eyes are green however, instead of the customary yellow that most owls have on this plane.

My owl has been with me for a few years now, and keeps me grounded, safe and on track of my spiritual path. Last summer I went to a Pagan retreat and did some intense journeying with them and I was finally given a name, and I learned how to absorb his energy so that I may heal myself. It's come in handy quite a few times!

I have one other guide, though I'm not sure if it's a messenger, or a life guide, but I would enjoy an item or so for my Dragonfly. She came to me during the retreat and is still around so I'm not sure if I still haven't learned from Her or if she's here to stay. Whenever I meditate with her she always perches in my hair - dragonfly hair clip anyone? (hint hint lol)

Wow! I am 10x more excited for this swap after reading all of your beautiful stories about connections to your spirit guides. I can't wait to see who I will be hunting down animal guide items for. :) Just a tip that sal410cat told me that is very helpful------> Medium usps flat rate box is about 12 to ship, so unless you're sending really heavy stuff it's better to use a random box you find. If it's light stuff, and goes by weight it shouldn't be that much!

LilithFaye 02/20/2016 #

I'm so excited about this swap, and all of these stories are so wonderful to read.

My main spirit guide is the Cat. Usually black cats, but tabby cats and orange cats have also had a huge hand in helping me. I currently have two black cats, brothers, named Cobra Bubbles and Sir Wigglebottom IV. (Mr. Wiggles is his nick-name. He belongs to my son.) I've had several cats since I became a teenager, when I had my first cat Cocoa Bean. I've saved several kittens within the last few years, and always know to pay extra attention to the road whenever I happen to see a black cat watching me drive.

I believe owls may be one of my spirit guides as well, though it is currently unconfirmed. (Not entirely sure how I would confirm it, to be completely honest.)

This is a really great swap!! Great idea behind it and great stories.

urocyonfox 02/24/2016 #

I have some great ideas brewing, I can't wait to see who my partner is. Fair warning partner you may get some hand drawn tarot cards with your animal, or atcs, or other goodies. >:) I'm so excited!

This swap is such a great idea and I'm excited to participate! I am still learning about animal spirits/guides but I have been doing a lot of reflection and I have narrowed it down to three animals I have a strong connection to. The first is Deer. I am a woodland lover and have a great love and respect for forests and all the creatures that live there. I'm drawn to the Deer because of their quiet and gentle nature balanced with strength and lighting fast instincts. The second is Otters and the third is Raccoons.

I adore this swap!!! Being a pagan Witch for 10 years, I have learned that my spirit guides are obscure. Back about 10 years ago, I was in a bad relationship and the Black Panther arrived to help me get thru the tough times. Tora is her name. Yes, that actually means Tiger but that is what she informed me to call her. lol She helped me get thru and Since things have been better, I do not see her as much. The second Guide that calls to me on a daily basis is the black Crow(not the Raven). We have a lot around here in Alabama. I find that when I have questions or am just feeling off, they arrive in abundance, speaking to me. I always smile when they are around because I know that they have come to talk to me and ease my mind. It's like having a therapist in a bird form..lol This is such a great swap. I hope that I can find a lot of things for my partner!!

Tiffaknee 02/26/2016 #

Thanks @JypsyJenifer I'm so excited for this swap and hope I can find some amazing things for my partner, too! Everyone in this swap is a fantastic and thoughful swapper, so I can't wait for us to get paired and start working on finding things. :D

Tiffaknee 03/ 2/2016 #

Just a friendly reminder to everyone that you should send a nice mix of things, not too much stuff on paper. And take your time finding nice things for your partners. You never know what may cross your path after you send out your package! :)

Tiffaknee 04/ 1/2016 #

Hey everyone, I have extended the send by date by 3 extra days. I am only doing this because I ordered something for my partner from etsy, and it still hasn't arrived after 2 weeks. I am hoping it turns up by tomorrow or Monday, since I got the shipping notification a few days ago. I am not extending it out of laziness or irresponsibility on my part, even with the tragedy I just experienced. It is truly out of concern of an item not arriving. Instead of just messaging my partner to tell her it might be a day or 2 late, I decided it would be fairer to just give you all the 3 extra days, too. I hope you don't mind. Thanks.

sal410cat 04/ 1/2016 #

@Tiffaknee this is perfect actually! Gives me a few extra days to make some more stuff!

DowneastArtisan 04/ 2/2016 #

Sounds good to me to extend it. Gives me a bit more time as well. Winter weather & sickness has been at my house making things crazy this past week or so. More than happy to have the extra time!

Tiffaknee 04/ 4/2016 #

Awesome thanks ladies!
