Description:

Hello fellow swappers!

For my first official swap, I wanted to create something newbie friendly and simple. Two activities that I absolutely love are things snail mail and penpal related. So I thought why not create a little swap incorporating both of these amazing aspects? One of my favorite things about sending a letter to a penpal, is including a mail tag. A mail tag is basically a set of few questions that you ask your penpal in order to get to know them a little better. So for this swap, you will be answering some “mail tag” questions & then mailing them off to your partners. It’s a great way to get to know someone, meet potential new penpals, and get 2 easy ratings!

The rules are as follows:

You will be assigned 2 partners each. All you have to do is answer each of the 12 mail tag questions, and make sure to write your answers down in either a nice notecard or a cute stationery sheet of paper (you can choose to type your answers if you'd like). After you’ve written or typed your answers down, grab an envelope and decorate it. You don’t have to go all out, just get a little creative with it and make it pretty so that your envelope can stand out in the mailbox alongside all of those annoying bills and spam mail. 😊 You can use washi tape, stickers, magazine cutouts, pieces of scrapbook paper, colored pencils, hand drawn doodles, paint, stamps & ink, etc. The options are endless. (Optional: You can also include a short letter or a few questions of your own in hopes that your swap buddy will write back. If you do this, make sure to include your address so your swap buddy knows where to send the reply 😊.) When you’re finished, make sure to include a small note with: 1) Your swapbot name, 2) the name of the swap, & 3) the day it was sent. After that, seal the envelope, mail it off & voila!

Mail tag questions:

  1. What is the best place that you have been to? Why?

  2. Three things on your bucket list.

  3. If you can have one wish, what would you wish for?

  4. What made you smile today?

  5. A fun or odd fact about yourself.

  6. An interesting fact about the area you live in.

  7. Who is your biggest inspiration? Why?

  8. A favorite quote.

  9. What is one food you can’t live without?

  10. One fear that you have.

  11. A favorite memory from your childhood.

  12. Something you’re looking forward to in 2018.

So to recap:

• You will have 2 partners.

• You will have to answer ALL of the “mail tag” questions.

• Make sure to include a small note indicating who the mail is from.

• And lastly, don’t forget to decorate the envelope! 😊

A few last things to note:

  • If your swap buddy has met these requirements, make sure to rate them a 5!

  • Remember to send your answers by the due date.

  • Also remember that this is an international swap, so bear in mind that the postage might vary.

  • If you have any questions, comments, or concerns; comment them down below or send me a message 😊

As I said, I will be letting newbies join, so long as you have a well filled out profile, not just a sentence or two. As for rated swappers, you must have a 4.9 to participate and no recent 1s or 3s. I have the right to ban anyone who I find suspicious or does not meet these requirements. I will be checking profiles. I'll also angel if needed, after you have firstly contacted your partner, and rated them a 1. With that said, please don’t flake on your partners! I want this to be a fun swap, so let’s try to keep it that way. Happy swapping everyone, and happy holidays! 😊

This sounds really cool! I can't wait to try it.

mysnailmailadventure 11/24/2017 #

@ellecamino Yeah, it should be really fun! I already can't wait to read the responses haha. Just make sure to join before the sign up date 🙂

Whippet 11/26/2017 #

@Lucylove is 12 years old & signed up for this swap!

mysnailmailadventure 11/26/2017 #

Thank you for the notice @Whippet ! I have already contacted her and removed her from this swap.

Kraftylady777 12/ 2/2017 #

Now @Lucylove €™s profile says she is 18 ??

AliCrafter 12/ 3/2017 #

I hope you do another one after the holidays. I'd love to join but there's too much going on right now.

mysnailmailadventure 12/ 4/2017 #

@Kraftylady777 thank you for pointing that out! Not to worry though, her profile is overall sketchy so she won't be able to join any of my upcoming swaps.

mysnailmailadventure 12/ 4/2017 #

@AliCrafter definitely! I plan on creating a "Post-Holiday Mail Tag" soon, so be on the look out for that one! :)

Madameabi 12/ 5/2017 #

May we type up our responses to the mail tag questions?

mysnailmailadventure 12/ 5/2017 #

@Madameabi thank you so much for bringing that up! I've been asked that by a few other people as well, and the answer is yes. You can definitely type up your answers if you'd like :)

mysnailmailadventure 12/ 5/2017 #

To all of the people joining this swap: As I mentioned in the description, I want this to be an easy & fun swap. You are more than welcome to type OR write your answers! :)

Karen72 12/ 7/2017 #

I’d like to join this swap, but for some reason there is no join button. Can you help me with this? Thanks!

mysnailmailadventure 12/ 7/2017 #

Hello @Karen72 You are already in this swap :) you should be able to see a highlighted box on the upper right hand corner that says "view participants," "move to watchlist," and "drop from swap." If you'd like, you can click on "view participants" and look for your name there. You can also go to your profile and look under "Currently In," it'll show you which swaps you're in at the moment. Either way you're in, so don't worry haha I hope that helped!

lawchick 12/10/2017 #

I was hoping to make my mail tag reply on a decorated handmade tag or card. Will that be ok? I

mysnailmailadventure 12/10/2017 #

Hi @lawchick :) a nicely decorated handmade card is perfectly fine. However, I don't think a tag would be suitable for this because of the multiple questions you'd be answering. I'd recommend you stick with a nice card or cute stationery sheet of paper, that way you'll have plenty of room for your replies! :)

travelgirlem 12/12/2017 #

Hi!!! Just curious...Can our replies be on a Christmas card or regular stationary?

makaelarenee 12/12/2017 #

This is my first swap and I am super excited to try this out !

mysnailmailadventure 12/13/2017 #

Hello!! @travelgirlem your replies can definitely be on a Christmas card! As long as it's a nice notecard (which I'm sure it is, since it's Christmas themed lol), then you should be fine! The only exception would be if you chose to type your responses :)

mysnailmailadventure 12/13/2017 #

@makaelarenee yay! I'm excited too :) Hope you have fun thinking of your responses and decorating your envelopes!! :)

colleenbUSA 12/15/2017 #

Can we use an envelope made from cute scrapbook paper? or Would me need to decorate it more?

mysnailmailadventure 12/15/2017 #

@colleenbUSA you sure can, that sounds like a great idea! :) if you make a handmade envelope out of cute scrapbook paper, then there's no need for you to add more decoration to it. If you (and this goes for everyone in the swap) plan on using a plain regular envelope, then decorating it is a must. Remember, one of the main goals of this swap is to send out a beautiful envelope to each swap buddy! :)

I have only received a response from one partner.....how do we handle that? Thanks!
