About Me

UPDATED 3/31/2017

I've realized that it is taking me FOREVER to receive swaps or for my partners to RECEIVE my swaps. Please be patient....Recently, it took two weeks for my future Brother-in-Law to receive my wedding invitation (and he is just two cities away from me. I send all my swaps out on time, so if you don't receive something, please let me know. Also, if you are late with a swap, send me a PM, because after all, life happens. Swapping should be fun, right?

Hello. It's nice to "meet" you. My name is Kim and I'm a 49 year old mom of three. Tyler is 13, Hailee is 11 and Jaime (boy) is 5. Besides being a proud Mom I am also an Optician extraordinaire and one of my passions is to help others. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, we moved to Washington State in June 2015 to be with my amazing Sweetie, Ron, and his 3 amazing kids (Rachel, 21, Randy 19 and Ryan, 17). We also have 2 dogs and 2 cats. (Who ever thought that 3 kids could be a lot "quieter". lol) Our house can be very crowded at times with us blending our families. Things are going great! I feel very blessed!

My life is very different than I planned for myself...and my children....I lost my husband of 18 years, Will, in June of 2013 after a two year illness...This experience has forever changed me and I will never be the same. I still have times where my grieving knocks me on my butt cheeks, but I have a lot of love and support in my life (and counseling and Grief Share has made all the difference). Today, I try to focus on the positive things in my life: my children, who I am very close to, especially my daughter, Hailee; valuing others in my life, whether it is a 30 minute talk or an on-going friendship; my belief and faith in God, which has become awakened throughout these experiences. I believe that life is a journey and even in the darkest times, there is always something to be thankful for, no matter how small.

Others describe me as pretty, positive, smart (I have a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology) and having a strange, quirky, and sarcastic sense of humor. I am a genuine people person and pretty much get along with everyone. I can go out anywhere and start up conversations with just about anyone. In the same vain, I try to keep my distance from people who are exceedingly negative and inconsistent. Life is short and I'm too old for a lot of drama and crapola.

Favorite Crafts

I am a "Craft-a-holic" and have been doing some type of craft since I was 7 years old. I love doing pages in deco books, sticker books, and making greeting cards and mail art. I like incorporating a sense of humor in my work. My style is sort of collage, but I also use rubber stamps or draw by hand at times. I have recently gotten into zines, pocket letters and homemade postcards

Thanks for the eyepopping doodled rainbow ATC for the MPU MMH forum tag!! Just what is needed on this cold grey snow day..! I love that quote from Maya Angelou.

jannieb on Oct 27, 2016:

I loved the ATC's you sent for the Abandoned Art Swap. You can see pictures of where I left them on my Flickr. I had to change the "Free Art" tags that you put on them b/c the washi tape stuck to them & ripped off the words.

Congrats on your wedding and honeymoon! Thank you very much for keeping up with your swaps and ratings during what I know must be a very busy time for you. Thanks and hugs, Traci (paperfilia)
