Description:

Are you drawn to rocks and crystals? Do you love carrying one around in your pocket, feeling it's texture in your hand, looking into it's patterns?

I love going into rock stores and handling all the stones, minerals, gems, and crystals. I always find it interesting to discover the meaning or power assigned to those stones I am drawn to.

For this swap, you will go rock shopping for your partner. No, you will not pick up a rock out of your yard or anyone else's. You will go to a store that carries rocks, crystals, gems, and the like and find a rock you think your partner would enjoy having. Use your partner's profile to find a quality or energy your partner could benefit from and get a stone assigned to that energy.

Along with the rock you choose for your partner, you will send some information about the rock including info about it's energy.

Cool? I'm already thrilled about having an excuse to shop the rock store and even more excited to receive a rock specially selected for me.

This swap is open to anyone around the globe as long as you don't have any no sends in your history. If you are a newbie, message me with some information about other swaps or projects outside of Swap-Bot that you have been a part of. I will review rating histories before people are matched up and will ban people who have bad ratings.

so... i WAS in the jewelery business for several years... and love all sorts of stones, gems, crystals... in the details, it says "rock" can we use that term loosely?? i have some resources to get some beautiful stones, but they are cut or faceted or cabachon, and even the spheres with stands! is that ok? or does the stone need to be in its natural form? AND is there a price limit that is going to be set (because i could spend a fortune on "semi-precious" gems lol)? i am so full of questions because i am excited about this swap!!

Can Merrie Amelie by my partner?

AshleyShea 04/22/2007 #

Yes, you can use the term "rock" loosely. The stone/rock/piece you choose can be polished or faceted or whatever.

I don't want this to be a cost-prohibited swap. I was expecting that people could spend around $5-$10 for a stone. If you want to spend more on your partner, that's up to you.

Ellen, I think everyone is going to want Merri as her partner. I wish I had the option of matching people myself, but it's just not possible on Swap-Bot.

Hi.. is this an international swop? hope so as I have a hoard of gemstones and crystals just shouting out to be used!!!

yowell 04/23/2007 #

also...do I have to send the 'rock' as it is or can I make it into a pendant to be worn? and the age old question ...does size matter?!!

AshleyShea 04/23/2007 #

Hi, Yowell. Yes, this is an international swap. If you live on the globe, you can play. ;-)

I would check with your partner before making the rock into a pendant. I don't where bracelets or necklaces, so I wouldn't be able to use your wonderful gift if I happened to be your partner.

Size? Use the guide of $5 to $10 as a guide. I know that some rocks/crystals/gems cost more than others. I wouldn't go for a really pricey stone if you can only get one about the size of a grain of rice. Go for one that would be nice to carry in your hand or pocket. Not too heavy to tote in a purse, but not so small that it might get lost in the wash.

How's that? Does that help?

thanx, that makes things clearer x

MerriAmelie 04/23/2007 #

thanks for clarifying! cant wait for the partners, so i can shop... or maybe i will just shop anyways! :)

A special package is en route via Priority Mail to my partner. I hope you enjoy your bag of rocks! :)

AshleyShea 05/13/2007 #

If I can figure out the new postage rates, I'll be shipping out stones to my partner in the morning. ;-)

Something beautiful coming to Deb B in VA!

Ellen: Thank you so much for the lovely pink stone (rose quartz).

Brooke!

Thank you so much for the beautiful crystal! It's gorgeous and taking up a space of honor on top of my computer monitor. The first thing my youngest son (8) said was, "Ohhh, can I get one too?"

I think you've started something!

Went shopping yesterday so will be sending Merri Amelie's out Monday morning:) Hope you enjoy:)

Happy swapping Brittnay:)

Moominbrooke 05/20/2007 #

Haha! Glad you like it, Deb! AshleyShea- I am enjoying my stones as well.

arentyouthatgirl 05/21/2007 #

ninjaprincess,

Your stones are in the mail! I probably should have just met you halfway, since you're only a "rock's throw" away from me!

(Ooooh that was bad, wasn't it?)
