Description:

Have you ever wanted to receive one of your own postcards? Have you almost made a postcard and mailed it to yourself? Well, now is your chance—almost.

This is a two part swap where you get to receive a postcard based on your own wishes and desires. Step one: collect items from your stash that you like; these can be stamped images, favorite colored cardstock, ephemera, etc. You will have two weeks to send these to your swap-partner. Step two: your partner will make a postcard out of the bits and pieces that you sent. Your partner will have two weeks to make the postcard and will mail it naked back to you.

Please contact your swap partners directly to get the mailing addresses to send materials.

The idea isn’t to try and trick/stump your swap partner.

This is open to all group members in Good Standing.

Signup Deadline: July 6

Deadline to send bits and pieces to swap partner: July 20

Deadline to return the finished postcard: September 7

UPDATE: Finished postcard date changed as requested.

I don't mean to be cynical here (";), but would it be possible to split this into 2 separate swaps?

Swap 1: Send items by July 20

Swap 2: Return PC by August 3

Both swaps would have the same sign-up of July 6 and anyone not signed up for both on that date would be screened out.

I know we have a really good group here, but I have been burned in a swap like this --- by the swap coordinator who was also a good friend of mine (at the time - not anymore!).

Oh and another thing: Since this is an international swap, Aug. 3 is way too early to ask people to send back the PC - it can take 4-6 weeks for mail to get back and forth to some countries - there is no way we can guarantee getting our items to our partners in time for them to send back by Aug. 3.

Don't mean to rain on your parade - just hoping this can be set up to address all of the variables and still allow everyone to play. (";)

I'd love to do this, but I agree with TerryF about the international sending time. I was in a similar swap but for ATCs a while ago and it had two months between the sign up and the send by dates, so everyone could be fairly sure to get their materials in good time before they had to mail the finnished card. I don't agree with splitting it into two swaps though. To receive a card made with your own items you would have to be assigned the same partner in both swaps which is highly unlikely.

I have changed the finished card date to September 7 which gives two months to send your card to your swap partner. This should allow sufficient time to receive your materials and send your postcard.

@TerryF -the idea is for someone to receive their own postcard from the materials sent to your partner. I agree with Basilika in that a second swap wouldn't allow for someone to receive their own postcard.

I did a swap just like this as one of my first on Swap-bot but it was an ATC and it was lots of fun. :-) It was just one swap and it worked well, from memory all returned their ATC's.

I agree with AFK -- the "Turn Around ATC Ephemera Swap" I was in (December 2006) was a lot of fun and worked out well. We each sent plenty of extra ephemera/supplies to give our partners plenty to choose from (they got to keep the extras). And the return postal address comes on the supplies envelope you get from your partner! So pretty easy to figure out where to send back to. ;) ... I'm glad for the extra turn-around time-- the two-week deadline would have been too tight for me.

OK - I'm in.

I need to make sure I've got this right. When partners have been assigned, do we click the "See the partners you send to" link, send that person a PM with our address, they send us materials, and we make and send them a postcard? Or do we click the link, send them materials and they send us the finnished postcard?

nystarcards 07/ 3/2009 #

@basilika When partners are assigned, click on the "See the partners you send to link." and send your materials to that person (along with a note giving them your address--which will also be on the envelope you send, in case you forget). Your partner will then send you back a card make from your supplies.

I hope that this helps--russ

Hello Everyone,

It seems that I have made a total mess of this swap in that I confused everyone with the instructions. Since no one has sent out materials yet, I am hoping to clean this up.

What I need you to do is this: Click on the link See the Partners You Send to. Send a PM to this person that lists your address. This is the person that will be sending you their materials. This is how the swap has to work in order to rate your partner.

Some of you have already figured this out but I wanted to clear this up before it gets to be a problem.

sultrypeacock 07/ 9/2009 #

Thank you for clearing that up!! Luckily, the person I got paired up with wrote to me before I made a mistake...

My bits and pieces are on their way to Susi. Have fun!

YooperHill 07/13/2009 #

oops - I sent before you straightend this out!

FarStarr 07/16/2009 #

Susiqz already sent my fabulous card back! It is incredible! Thank you!
