Pot Luck is just that you never know what you will get. The rules are anyone newbie or old hat can join. The cut off price is $5.00. Please make sure that you send something nice that you would like to receive. It can be home made but only if someone would buy it for at least $5.00. You may check out your partners profile for suggestions if you wish, or just send them something that you like and think they might also.

There will be no angeling so don't flake. For you newbies, that means no one will mail out a replacement package to your assigned partner if you don't.

Are you saying someone can't seek an angel if they get flaked on in this swap? Because I'm pretty sure you can't set that as a stipulation as anyone can seek an angel for a swap they've been flaked on.

I have seen it on several swaps that I have been in. The reason being is - trying to teach folks the right/ correct way to swap. You sign up you follow through - Simple. I guess if folks wanted to IM everyone and see if they got flaked on they could, but then knowing that you don't have to send a package because someone else will send it for you sorta defeats the whole purpose of this swap don't you think?

I understand where both of you are coming from, however @ladyfeathers you are not allowed to tell members that no one will angel for them. If they want to go to the forums and ask for an angel should they get flaked on, that is their perogative. When things like this happen, many times the "non-sender" will be singled out in short time and will end up getting suspended if they don't send out very many swaps. I see what you are saying @ladyfeathers It is a good point to try and teach good swapping habits, but you can't force someone to do something they wont do.

Wow such drama over the statement "no angeling" .......So in order to stop it I will clarify a little more. I will not be angeling this swap, nor will I ask any one to angel for this swap. If someone gets flaked on and wants to go to the forums and request an angel on the swap that is there prerogative.

@crochetjunkie you are correct folks who flake don't usually last long on here anyway, thank goodness.

So for all you newbie’s reading this you can see how getting flaked on hurts a person. Both the one who flakes and the one who is flaked on.

So this is kind of sender's choice although it's suggested we look at profiles?

amytheist 10/16/2009 #

@CariahCreates I think this is sender's choice but it's always nice to look at profiles, who knows you might have some of the stuff they like in your stash. :)

Senders choice, but since everyone never wants to get something they don't like, looking at the profiles of your send to partner is always a good idea.

I'm intrigued by this Pot Luck concept! It's exciting to receive a surprise package, but also a bit nerve-wracking. $5 is a fair cut-off for homemade goods, and I appreciate the reminder to send something we'd genuinely enjoy ourselves. Checking partner profiles for suggestions is a cool twist, but I also love the freedom to send something purely based on personal taste. house of hazards

The "no angeling" rule is important. Knowing there's no guaranteed replacement if I flake encourages everyone to be responsible and thoughtful. This feels like a fun and potentially rewarding way to connect with people and share some unique goodies. house of hazards
