I'm in my early 30s and currently live in North Carolina although I was born and raised in Iowa. I work in the government sector as a Community Development Planner (my undergrad degree is in Geography and my masters is in Public Administration). However, I first started out wanting to be a film director! I'm still very much a creative person who loves movies, music, and books. I have many hobbies but not a lot that I stick with for very long. I am an amateur photographer although not one who can sell (although I did win $100 in a contest once). I make beaded jewelry when I find inspiring beads or feel like making something. I'm currently learning needle felting and would like to learn how to knit (crochet was not for me). I'm an anglophile who loves everything British and would love to do some swaps with people in the U.K.
My Swapping Preferences:
Likes:Knitted and crocheted items (especially fashion accessories like scarves, capelets, fingerless gloves, etc.); Cutesy stuff (like Japanese goodies, Kawaii-just not manga or anime stuff, little toys and figures-no $1 ceramic figurines though); Bags (purses, coin purses, tote bags, etc.); Things made out of recycled materials (especially things made out of old soda cans); handmade and/or unique jewelry, items from other countries/cultures; aromatherapy (scented lotions and soaps, herbal goodies, candles, aroma oils); Some paper crafts like origami, handmade journals, and Japanese stabb binding; Miniatures in dollhouse scale (especially food); Vintage and antique stuff; Decorative old buttons and old bottlecaps to make jewelry out of; seeds for plants and flowers; bath and body items (I like most fruity and flowery scents but dislike musky smells); Ugly doll (love those little figurines)
I LOVE Fanta sodas, especially the Cherry one which I can only get at the movie theater here. Always willing to trade for the more rare Fanta flavors and other like types of fruit flavored soda if shipping those items is not a problem
I don't know much Kawaii stuff and don't recognize many of the brands mentioned here but I do like Sanrio stuff including Hello Kitty. I would probably like many of the others too but I don't need any stickers or stationary. A few notecards would be ok but I don't need a lot of them. Also don't really need any erasers. I do like the food with faces, especially the plushies.
My favorite colors tend to be cool tones: purples, blues, and greens. I tend to wear a lot of black, grays, and browns so I try to spruce up my wardrobe and add color through accessories.
I collect Zuni animal fetishes but these are pretty expensive so I don't expect anyone to buy these for me. I can usually use the small animal beads made out of stone (Zuni or not) which can be found for decent prices occassionally.
My favorite animals are dogs, rabbits, and turtles.
Dislikes: I'm not really into paper crafts other than those mentioned above and don't do scrapbooking; While I like food from other countries, I'm on a diet so not a lot of candy (small packages fine); Don't have much use for quilting stuff or fabric; Don't collect postage stamps, postcards, or key chains; Don't drink much hot stuff so no coffee, some hot teas are ok, mostly like fruity kinds and either white or black tea, no green tea, Please no religious items (unless if buddhism/eastern thoughts) or Disney
Unless I'm in a swap that particularly calls for them, I don't really want ATCs, PCs, FBs, or inchies. If this is all you have to trade, please don't be offended if I send this on to someone who collects it.
No Known Allergies but I really can't tolerate the smell of cigarette smoke. If you are a smoker, please try to keep your swap items away from it or air it out before sending.
What I have on hand to trade: Handmade jewelry (pics posted on my blog); some leftover craft supplies
I can get North Carolina souvenir items including most of the major school teams here, tarheel stuff, some state food goodies, etc. Just ask if you particularly want something.
What I would accept in trade: I could definitely use some knitting needles in various sizes (except for 4 and 8); plain card stock (in various colors but no patterns please); needle felting supplies; anything in my likes section above; possibly others, just ask
I'm a letterboxer so any supplies for that is always appreciated. This includes sturdy locking plastic containers, dark brown and camoflauge duct tape, small unlined notebooks, small colored markers, SpeedyCarve, inkpads
Ultimate Wishlist: Red Dwarf Mr. Flibble stuffed plush or puppet (can't find one here), Plastic collectible Gamera toy; cute amigurumi (I can't crochet but love these!), Asian inspired items (my bedroom is decorated this way); Wallace and Gromit/Shaun the Sheep toys and goodies
Rement!!!! I want to start collecting the little food sets. I particularly love the Fun Foods, Sushi, Airlines Foods, and Tea Time sets. Any rement sets will earn you a heart for sure!
His Name is Alive, Coldplay, Modest Mouse, Black Eyed Peas, Sufijan Stevens, Tori Amos, Franz Ferdinand, Ruthie Foster
Classic Jazz-Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone, Louis Armstrong
I listen to a lot of different music and like a lot of different genres. The only ones I don't care for are classic rock, 80's, and country.
Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Emma, Kage Baker's The Company series, Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series, Life of Pi, Middlesex, Watership Down
I read a lot so it's hard to narrow down to favorites.
I do like a lot of classics, particularly those of the Regency and Victorian periods so items reflective of those periods are always nice.
Breaking the Waves, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Silence of Sleep, Life is Beautiful, Harold and Maude, Fellini's Nights of Cabiria, Pride and Prejudice (A&E Colin Firth version), Sense and Sensibility (Emma Thompson version)
I love old B movies, particularly when shown on Mystery Science Theater. I love the Gamera series and would love to have some Gamera stuff!
Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Top Chef, Project Runway, The Office
Britcoms! (incl. Vicar of Dibley, The IT Crowd, The Mighty Boosh, Mr. Bean, Father Ted, Are you being served?, Coupling, Little Britain, Red Dwarf)
Comedy/Sketch shows: Kids in the Hall, Flight of the Conchords, Mystery Science Theater 3000
To do: Jewelry/Beading, Needle Felting, Stamp Carving
To swap for (usually things I can't do): Knitting, Crocheting, Metalworking, Leatherworking, Soapmaking

I love giving gifts! If you get a package that has an extra in there for you, it's simply because I had something in my stash I thought you might like. Please don't feel obligated to give me a heart for anything I include as an RAK.
