Description:

For this participation challenge profile paper doll, you are going to create a profile doll for your partner. Not one using her profile, but YOUR profile! What have you listed about yourself on your profile? What do you want your partner to know about you? Since the point of the participation challenge is to get us to interact with each other, let's use our own profiles to get to know each other.

Here are the nuts and bolts of this challenge:

You are going to send one doll to one partner.

Doll is to be between 8 - 10 inches tall.

It is to have a sturdy cardboard backing and be neatly cut out.

The doll needs to be dressed, colored, styled, embellished to represent your profile/personality likes and dislikes.

Clothes can be removable or glued on - your choice.

Swap must include a little card or note introducing yourself and telling some little personal tidbit about yourself.

Have fun representing yourself to your partner, and remember! all participants in this swap receive a free color copied sheet of a paperdoll from me for participating, and one lucky winner receives a package of crafting goodness! And I've now edited this swap so that there are TWO drawings among the participants for prizes. The second prize I'm giving away is a giant SELF doll with your picture for its face!

I love this idea--I make these all the time. Thanks!

Thanks for joining!!! I am going to send out another group email and up the ante! I will throw in another prize to be given out so we will have two drawings. I will make a giant self doll and the person will get a doll of themselves with their picture on it as a prize.

Do I use my own face!

lilspotteddog 03/21/2010 #

can if you want cocoa! that's not a requirement for the swap. we have done a self doll, the queen of everything which is the image here for the swap - that's me in the pic made by @redsockz and i love my queen of everything doll and it was a profile doll too. That's why i am holding my little doxie, drinking my fav bev, and wearing a queen t-shirt! have fun

You are so generous! I love this idea!! I have to send a couple of swaps and then I will join!!! :)

What fun! I sat right down last night & made - well, me, I guess. lol. I opted not to use a template or whatever, just to see how she comes out without aid of any pattern. So far, so good. Though I looked afterward online, and saw that maybe I over-hinged her ... I have hinged hands & feet, which don't seem to be the norm. But I think she'll work out fine even so.

lilspotteddog 03/23/2010 #

Sounds good, @onceinabluemoon Maybe you'll start a new trend - who knows. And did you have fun? You said in the forum you have never done this and you wanted to jump in and see if you liked it. So that is the main thing - having a good time doing what you do . . .

OnceInABlueMoon 03/23/2010 #

@lilspotteddog I sure did have fun. So far, I've only made the actual doll but not painted her or anything, and have made clothes, and my 12-year-old made a set of clothes for her (she was dying to do it once she saw the doll - but to make sure it's all kosher I made a set too so hers can be counted as "extra"). I have thought of a couple of things to make, then I have to decide whether to put a photo face on her, or make a face. Hard choices in life, lol.

Funny! Maybe we can do a doll swap for the kids and grandkids of the people in the group. Then we can get some participation , family style, and it might get more people to get in there who otherwise don't participate because they haven't done it before. Maybe if you win the giant self doll you can have your daughter's face put on it instead of yours - I bet she'd think that was neat.

I would love to find a pattern for Paper doll pets because I would love to have little hinged kitties to go along with my doll. Okay, I am off to see if I can get that to work somehow. :-D

lilspotteddog 03/31/2010 #

Nor sure what you mean about the "hinged" part of it. Like to stand up or to make them double sided so you can print and fold in half to be free-standing? If so, could you manipulate in software to mirror and then make them be close to each other? Or possibly is that a reflection? Not sure. . .

grimmlynn 04/20/2010 #

I do have the software where I could make a reversed image so that could work. I think by hinged I meant jointed. Just a little movable paper cat to go along with my doll.

Just wanted to shout out that I will be sending the gift images to everyone after we have made sure every sends as required, and then the drawings for the prizes will be held then, too. My doll is done! Remember to send a little note letting your partner know a couple of things about you. This was fun for me. Hope everyone else enjoyed it, too.

Hope everyone who participated received their freebies. I still haven't received my doll :-(
