Description:

This is my first time hosting a swap so if this has been done before I am sorry I am stealing your idea :)

I love scrapbooking and have soooooo much paper. I tend to buy paper packs that have 2 or even 3 papers of the same design. That leaves me with a lot of unused duplicates. I thought it could be fun to share those duplicates with someone else and receive some new paper to play with!!!

SWAP DETAILS

-You will have 1 partner.

-You will send your partner 20 sheets of patterned paper (no solid cardstock).

  • Paper should by 12x12

  • At least half of the paper should be the thicker type of paper. For example K&Company tends to be thicker than brands like My Minds Eye or the value DCWV packs. You don't have to send paper that came in a pack this is just for reference when figuring out thickness.

  • No two papers should be the same but you can send some from the same line/pack however do not send paper that is all from the same line/pack. This should be a fun mixture of paper... You don't want to just send paper no one would use. Think about what you would want to get.

  • Package your paper safely to ensure it gets to your partner in good shape. I recommend putting a piece of cardboard in the package to prevent the paper from bending!!!

If the swap goes over well, I would love to host similar paper swaps and maybe put some fun twists into it about what designs to send.... I have a lot of paper to swap!!!!!!!!

PARTICIPANTS

  • 4.75 rating or better with no un-explained 1's or 3's in the last 6 months.

  • NEWBIES are welcome with a DETAILED profile (you can check mine out for an example of Detailed).

  • I will be checked and banning people who do not meet the criteria... it is not fun to have a flaky partner.

  • If you flake, you will be banned from participating in any of my future swaps.

RATING: - Partners should be rated on the above swap details and not on whether you liked every piece of patterned paper sent.

I would love to join, but how do you ship 12x12 paper? and is it pricey?

JoyAnne 06/ 8/2010 #

I was wondering the same thing shoeboxmemories, mailing a square parcel will cost more.

I received some in an old album cover once and it was quite a bit expensive for the person sending it to me. My main concern as well will watch for now....

In my experience mailing 12x12, I have made a brown paper envelope and put the paper with a sturdy piece of card board inside. Taped it up nicely and sent it parcel post. I weighed 30 sheets of thick paper and it was about a pound which would be about $5.00... hope that helps you all decide if you want to participate!!!! Also why I just made it USA

I might join if it were 10 or 15 sheets

Wow, thirty sheets seems like a lot of paper for someone to commit to. Might want to reconsider. I have lots of paper but not sure if I have thirty duplicates of things I want to get rid of. Just a thought. also the cost of postage could get high on this.

I've sent using a scotch mailer they sell at target which is bigger than 12x12 and works nice with cardboard to help protect. Also one of the co. I order paper from just used a priority box. Unfolded, just flat with papers in a baggie, inserted in the box, and taped the edges. I have lots of doubles of basic grey, as I buy collection packs and many dcwv and some K&co. I also got some of the new Tim Holtz. I keep watching for now. Waiting to see if more join.

Based on some of the discussion and worries of high shipping, I lowered the number of paper to 20 sheets. Hopefully that will get more people wanting to swap.

I know that I'm new and this will be my first swap. Please do NOT feel scared to let me in. I'm totally serious about this. Lots of cool papers to share. Basic Grey, Dcwv, and other Better names as well. I will probably be using the priority mail boxes that fit the 12 x 12 paper, that's how I ship my layouts and it's nice and sturdy. I like the thicker papers too, no "see-thrus" I think it is great that you specified on the quality of the papers. Makes me feel safer. : ) Thank you again for letting me join!
