Description:

This is the fourth reading log swap of 2010. It's pretty simple. Read. Write about what you read. Send your log off to two international partners.

You'll be sending your partners one reading log that contains your thoughts on all the books you read during the months of October, November & December 2010. The log can be in any paper format.

You need to jot down the title, the author and give a minimum of a one paragraph description about each book and your thoughts.

Feel free to include things like favorite quotes, the author's Web site, etc.

This swap is about what you enjoy reading, not what your partners may or may not like. It doesn't matter what you read: fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, Manga, zines, audio books, e-books, children's, etc.

I recommend keeping a computer file for your log so it will be easy for your partners to read and so you won't lose it, but your log can be created in ANY format you like. It needs to be paper and mailed via post. The format is up to you: journal, letter, zine, tag book, etc.

The details:

a) international (sent via the post, NOT e-mailed)

b) two partners

c) minimum requirements: one book each month; one paragraph about the book. Author, title.

Voracious readers read more than a single book a month. So there's no maximum. Your reading log should be sent NO earlier than the 15th of December.

The fine print:

Newbies welcome. Rated players need a 4.8 or higher. If you are under the requirement PM me and I will take it as a case by case. No recent 1s or no sends. All participants must have a completed profile. I ban after the swap closes. As both a swap participant and coordinator, I like people to have positive swap experiences, so please no forum drama.

Hopefully we won't need to, but I will arrange for angels if they are needed.

I read a copious amount of books (I'm on http://www.goodreads.com/dithreabhach) and I keep notes on most of them. This might make may me transfer them to my Goodreads account :)

I love this idea, sign me up!

Soo.. let me see if I got it right... no retelling, just our thoughts and feelings about what we read, right? I wouldn't want to ruin a good book for my partner, but I want to make sure anyway... maybe retelling is what's expected...

I'm looking forward to this one. I've been trying to start documenting the books I read anyway, so this will give me the impetus that I need to get that started.

CayleighTheShell 10/ 6/2010 #

@Florcis Yes, it is mostly just a paragraph about what you think of the book, but everyone does it a little differently. I usually give a quick synopsis of the story but definitely no spoilers.

I'm also on Goodreads .. I read about 2-3 books a month, sometimes more depending on the length of the book and whether or not I enjoy the books...boring ones take longer to read!

I like snail mail much better than email for this swap. I tend to delete emails after I read them. I prefer to have lists of books with swappers notes about them to keep in a hard copy folder for reference. I hope some swapper will even feel like including their year long list in this final 2010 swap [which would be extra and totally heart worthy]

Also on Goodreads... and if I send the receiver might have a book list about books... Been reading a lot :P

Just wanted to leave a quick note, if anyone wants to send their reading log from the whole year instead of just Oct -Dec. I greatly encourage that. I always like to send my whole reading log on Q4.

The whole log won't be made a requirement though, just because not everyone has done it for the whole year. : )
