would you send stickers for this swap? With the new postage regulations the 3 items must be very thin to pass the .41 cent thickness requirement. I know some area are more picky than other, but it's still something to think about.

I was thinking tea bags, but then that would probably be too bulky although lightweight.

With the other one I was in, I recieved about 6 items each from my partners, it really matters what you send

Nonmachinable Surcharge: Surcharge per piece at single-piece rate: $0.17.

A letter-size piece is nonmachinable if it has one or more of the following characteristics: a. Has an aspect ratio (length divided by height) of less than 1.3 or more than 2.5. b. Is polybagged, polywrapped, or enclosed in any plastic material. c. Has clasps, strings, buttons, or similar closure devices. d. Contains items such as pens, pencils, or loose keys or coins that cause the thickness of the mailpiece to be uneven. e. Is too rigid (does not bend easily when subjected to a transport belt tension of 40 pounds around an 11-inch diameter turn). f. For pieces more than 4-1/4 inches high or 6 inches long, the thickness is less than 0.009 inch. g. Has a delivery address parallel to the shorter dimension of the mailpiece. h. Is a self-mailer with a final folded edge perpendicular to the address if the piece is not folded and secured according to 201.3.13.1. i. Booklet-type pieces with the bound edge (spine) along the shorter dimension of the piece or at the top, unless prepared according to 201.3.13.2.

So what suggestions doea everyone have on things to send? I'm really looking for some general ideas since I've never tried to fit a certain number of items in for 1 stamp besides coupons, lol!

ashleyarsenic 10/22/2007 #

mommie2angels: i've done this swap a ton of times! you can fit a more than you think in an envelope! some of the items i sent and i've received include: gift tags, bookmark, couple of stickers, international stamps, printed sheet with a craft idea, newspaper cartoon that's been hand decorated... i really could go on and on but you could fit all of these items in one envelope! promise!

kylanicole 10/23/2007 #

Recipes, tea bags, and fridge magnets will also fit. As long as it's under 1/4" thick, it'll work =]

Now if only our partners would be assigned ;)

Greetings. Enclosed in my envelope will be some goodies from among your excellent suggestions, and also some Adirondack mountain air. Best regards.

I sent my envelopes today.....WoW!!!

That was alot of fun. I had to take out a few things at the post office. Sorry girls:( I also took out my handwritten letter so I would have room for stuff.

I hope my partners enjoy getting there envelopes. I had a blast!

I'm putting my envelops in the mail today! I hope my partners like what I sent.

mommie2angels 10/24/2007 #

we had a fieldtrip today so mine will be in the box tomorrow! Hope my partners like their little goodies:)

MissPrincess 10/24/2007 #

Mine went postal today too!

kylanicole 10/24/2007 #

I had to take some out at the post office, too, and I still went over =[ I found out that shipping internationally is practically impossible, unless sending jsut a card, or a letter under 2 pages, because international mail is done completely by weight (not dimensions).

Oh well, I hope my partners like what they recieve! I sure had fun putting them together =]

I was just wondering if gatorsmom & NickieD have gotten the envelopes I sent them? Just hoping they didn't get lost.

NickieD 10/28/2007 #

Thanks xNurseNinax I got my envelope from the mail box today. Love the postage stamps :)

mommie2angels 10/28/2007 #

Did either of my partners get theirs? I thought they should arrive saturday or monday.

occasiongb6557 10/30/2007 #

mommie2angels: got your envie today and sent you a personal pm, now I am trying to figure out the rating thing. Thanks!!

xNurseNinax 10/31/2007 #

Thank you, MissPrincess, I got your envelope stuffed full of goodies! Thank you!

NonVenomous 11/ 3/2007 #

I got both my partners envelopes. Thank you very much!

Just a hint for a future swap, $.41 was perfectly fine for shipping if you did not go over 1 ounce and if everything was flat. For my envelopes, I was told to put extra postage on because they were "not machinable" because it was too think and would cost more to send. For one of the envelopes sent to me, I had to pay an extra $.17 because it had to be "hand sorted". I don't mind paying it at all, but maybe next time you can state putting $.82 postage on it. Enough for a slightly heavier and thicker envelope.
