I enjoy receiving mail/packages/letters/postcards~communication ;-D I enjoy swapping, esp books. By day, I am a CNA in geriatric care (I've been one for 6 years. It has heavily influenced my view of the world. I'm still learning about life/myself/people). By night, I like to write. I am a writer of fiction, short stories, poems, novels, thoughts, etc. I'm working to be published.

I try to be open-minded about people, places, my surroundings, beliefs. I am not a religious person, but I am spiritual person. I have been in a committed relationship for 2 decades. I am constantly trying to learn knew things.

I am obsessed with the internet (Facebook, Youtube, GetGlue, Twitter, Wordpress). I blog, and surf the net like mad-I'm really into internet life! I enjoy sharing my internet time with such projects as Care2, the Animal Rescue site, & FreeRice.com, all 3 sites are places where you can donate your time to help those in need.

I love music, tv, movies, going to bookstores (new & used), hanging out with friends and reading.

I try to be open-minded about different types/styles/eras of music. Bands: Duran Duran, The Killers, Adele, Silversun Pickups, Eisley, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Bravery, Scarlett Johansson, Foo Fighters, Nina Simone, Sade, Dave Matthews Band, +more. I like listening to a variety of music, typically introduced to me by friends. I like listening to internet radio.

I love books. I enjoy 'reading challenges'.

My favorite genres are: any kind of paranormal, fantasy, romance & urban/dark fantasy/sci/fi and Steampunk (esp paranormal Steampunk). I am always looking for Steampunk authors/books. I like books that are full of life, that make a good impression on the readers. I like reading erotica, not trash per se.

Some other genres I enjoy are: general sci-fi/fantasy, YA (young adult), mostly fiction books centered around magic, time travel, secrets, myths, mythical creatures, gods/goddesses, alternate reality/alternate history novels & generally just story-lines that make you think and keep you guessing.

Favorite Authors - Gena Showalter, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Susan Kearney, JK Rowling, Kim Harrison, Susan Cooper, Lynn Viehl, Christine Feehan, Sandra Hill + others. I like being introduced to new authors. I'm into Harry Potter & his world, I like Twilight.

I like these types of movies - sci-fi/fantasy, movies that keep you guessing, deep-thinking movies, tearjerkers with meaning...

Examples - Harry Potter (I don't know how many times I've watched the series), Serendipity, The Notebook, X-Men, Sherlock Holmes, Matrix, DiVinci Code + Pirates of the Caribbean, tons more.

Nikita (CW's current rendition), Fringe, Lie to Me, Criminal Minds, Medium, Mad Men, Doctor Who, Law & Order SVU, Torchwood, Heroes. I like watching HULU. I like watching shows on A&E, History=I've found I'm becoming more interested in real-life stories. Big Life, Family Jewels, and a few others. Currently I'm watching a miniseries that ran on HBO for a few years, Carnivale with Nick Stahl, VERY good!

LIKES - Books (I am a book nut. But I prefer books no older than 10 yrs please, gently used is fine though). Coffee (I love Breakfast Blend, Colombian, good strong blends). Chocolate (Belgian & German, dark & milk, but no fruit). Tea (Brands: Stash, Tazo, Twinings. Type: Individually sealed, black, black tea blends & smoked teas). Steampunk related items: Clothing, jewelry, accessories, books, movies, etc. (I'd like to start making things.) Stuff (unique things) with Oriental designs (Japanese fans, Japanese tea parties, etc), Egyptian designs (Eye of Horus), Pagan, New Age. Bookmarks (with unique designs, Japanese, Egyptian, etc), socks, jewelry (unique handmade things). I have always wanted to get into knitting, sewing, recently I started making dotee dolls. Art, paintings, crafts, scarves, rich, fine, airy things (a unique piece of "art" could be a really neat pattern from the 70s that has deep colors that can be cut out and framed, that could be art to me. Or a photo from the 1920s of a Geisha that has been airbrush/painted, framed and that could be art). I like unique buttons (mainly for my girlfriend's collection). I'm looking to fill up our new craft room.

More LIKES: music mix cds, messenger bags, writing tools like fine quality pens & notebooks/journals. I like finding things that people leave behind~like lists,(i.e. when you've left your day's "To Do" list behind, I've grabbed it up.), or going to yard sales and seeing people's stuff.

DISLIKES - Coconut anything, fruit & nut flavored coffee, anything Christian & rap-country-hard metal music. Political/war related stuff=things that try and sway a person's view of the world/people or make you afraid.

Things that I'm totally OKAY with receiving - Nudes (as in postcards from the '20s or artsy ones, etc), curse words in songs or books, used things... I try to be open-minded about a lot of things.

Colors I like are:

Dark shades of colors (like cobalt, hunter green, cinnamon, vermilion + rich carmine). Blends, patterns, '70s decor.

Purple, saffron, rich brown, orange, deep red, gold & black.

There are other colors I like but I just wanted to quickly add some here.

Colors I really don't like:

Pastels, neon's, milky colors.

I am becoming quite obsessed with Steampunk. Anything Steampunk. I would like to start making Steampunk jewelry, or clothing/craft related things, but I'm not crafty enough for that, yet. Perhaps, I'll branch out one day, become creative enough to get crazy with a soldering iron and some gears.

I've started taking more photographs.
