Description:

Beware, this craft is very addicting!

For this swap, you will make 2 envelopes for your partner from a calendar to use as they wish. The envelopes can be of any mailable size.

You can give hearts if you include a notecard or stationery that will fit in the envelope, or if you include a label for your partner to affix themselves before mailing.

You can use a template (I bought mine from Paper Source) or follow the instructions on this website

I will check profiles and will angel this swap if necessary, but would rather everyone just not flake. Only join if you are committed to making TWO envelopes for your partner.

Start envelope-making now, so you can have a few for yourself, and perhaps one to mail the envelopes in to your partner.

Have fun!

Yes, this is VERY addicting! :) I actually got excited when Michael's had their 2011 calendars on sale 4 for $1 just so I had more envie material! ;)

bobogrl 04/ 3/2011 #

Wow I made mine for the swap and it was so fun! They came out adorable if I must say so :) I'm going to go to Michaels and look for clearance calendars now!

I am going to watch for now. If I get the envelopes to come out the way I want in time to join this swap, then I will join. Looks like a fun thing to do.

TurtleLove 04/ 7/2011 #

I would like to join this swap but I have questions about the "requirement" for the hearts. My understanding is that it shouldn't be a part of the swap outline. I will watch for now... Under swap FAQ it says "Swap coordinators should never dictate when hearts should be given. Also, swap participants should never demand that they receive a heart for their sent swap items. Hearts are only to be given at the discretion of each swap recipient. "

rhinoluvr 04/ 8/2011 #

That's true, @TurtleLove I meant only that it'd be nice for extras to include something like that, in case people who join aren't accustomed to using calendar envelopes to send mail. It's sometimes hard to track down a good mailing label, or a card that fits the odd size. It's entirely up to the recipient as to how they'd like to rate. Hearts are a bonus, but as the swap coordinator, I can't say what the recipients will feel is worthy of a heart. I hope you'll join, because it's a lot of fun! :)

WoW, sounds like a very good swap idea. I want to join.Just need to locate my template. About the Hearts. My thought on the subject.Sometimes you know you are knocking yourself out to send the best swap. And that one time you know you over did it. Your shocked to see your partner did not give you that heart you expected. So now just do my best. And I have always been one to give from my heart. And I am one to always gives hearts to my partners. Now if I get one, good but if I do not. I refuse to take it personal.Cause each and everyone of us are very different for one another. And as long as I know I gave my best that is all that matters to me. Happy Swapping :)

http://www.paper-papers.com/envelope-size-chart.html#square i figured this might be helpful

Tigger679 04/ 9/2011 #

Very cool. I have the templates and I have the old calendars (even have one from 1997! Senior year of high school, freshman year of college - yikes!) that I've been saving for "something," LOL.

twobluecrows 04/10/2011 #

In making your envelopes, keep in mind that (at least in the US) odd shapes and square envelopes cost more to mail. The standard sizes and shapes are useful, and anything bigger than a 6 1/8" x 11 1/2" is considered a "Large Envelope" and costs more, too.
From the USPS website: Letter Dimension Minimum Maximum Height 3-1/2 inches 6-1/8 inches Length 5 inches 11-1/2 inches Thickness 0.007 inch 1/4 inch

twobluecrows 04/10/2011 #

Trying to make that more intelligible:

Letter

Dimension Minimum Maximum

Height 3-1/2 inches 6-1/8 inches

Length 5 inches 11-1/2 inches

Thickness 0.007 inch 1/4 inch

This is my first swap ever and I have had so much fun making the envelopes!

I don't want to sound dumb but .....I don't understand this:

"You can give hearts if you include a notecard or stationery that will fit in the envelope, or if you include a label for your partner to affix themselves before mailing. "

What does give hearts mean? What is a notecard (dimensions?) and how much stationery and what size?

Thanks for your help

bobogrl 04/11/2011 #

dfp, I'm not the coordinator, but I think I can help:

"hearts" is part of the rating you give your partner. When you have received your package, you will go to the link in the upper right corner that says "rate your partner and coordinator". You can simply give your partner a 5, or if you feel it's extra special, you can click on the "heart" under the 5. You can rate a 3 if there's a problem with your package, although you should privately message your partner to see if the problem can be resolved. Rate a 1 if they did not send anything after 2 weeks from the deadline, and they did not respond to your messages.

A notecard is just a blank note that might fit into the envelope.

Stationary could be one or two pages, that fit inside the envelope, and your partner can use with their envelope.

I hope this answers your questions!

bobogrl ~ Thanks for answering all my questions. I really appreciate it. ~D

rhinoluvr 04/11/2011 #

Thanks, @bobogrl ;)

STUFFellaneous 04/12/2011 #

When will be assigned a partner or the person to whom we mail the envelopes?

rhinoluvr 04/12/2011 #

You will recieve a message via email saying "It's time to start swappin'. You can now view your partner for Envelopes from Calendars" When you are on the swap page, you'll see a box in the upper right that says "See the partner you send to" in addition to "Rate your partner and coordinator" and "Click here when you have sent your items". If you have any questions, feel free to private message me. I hope no one flakes, but if they do, let me know, and we'll get it resolved, and either I or another swapper will "angel" for you, i.e. send you the envelopes. Take care & Have Fun!!

Ginger 04/16/2011 #

I hope you host another swap like this :)
