Weekly Newbie Swap

Welcome!! This weekly swap is set up to help serious newbies get ratings quickly, without skimping on a quality swap. The key word here is QUALITY.

This will be an International swap since you can easily customize a light weight package. I've sent small lightweight gifts such as yarn, beaded jewelry, teas, etc in medium sized bubble envelope for less than what it costs to ship priority mail in the US.

This swap will be open to ALL new swappers WITH a filled out profile. This is very important! I have to be a bit tougher on this one… after feedback from some swappers I find it essential that you have a good profile. Be sure to read the links below about creating a good profile. I will no longer be able to contact you if I feel you need to add more to your profile before the start of the swap. Reminding folks to fill out their profile is taking too much of my time. Fill out your profile & then sign up for this swap. Follow all the directions in the description or you will not be able to participate in this swap.

Things to consider putting in your profile: Likes and Dislikes, favorites (colors, food, candy, crafts, etc), any allergies, things you wouldn't want to receive, any pets you might have, etc.

Other swappers are also welcome to join, I will be checking profiles though. I reserve the right to ban anyone with a poor swapping history.

What will we be swapping? Anything you want. Let’s send our partners our best. Once partners are assigned you will have the weekend to create something wonderful for them. You will need to go check out their profiles and choose items you think they will love. Now this swap doesn’t have to cost much, just your time. Some folks have requested a monetary value, I’d say minimum would be $10. Please do see my examples below & check out the photos on the flickr group above for some ideas of great swaps.

Do you knit or crochet? Maybe you could send a dish cloth, a recipe and a lovely homemade card.

After reading your partner’s profile did you feel like you have a lot in common? Send them a lengthy pen-pal letter along with some homemade tags.

What about a hobby or favorite craft? You could send a journal & pretty pen to a writer. Or some nice yarn for a knitter.

These are just ideas, get creative and send your partner something you’d like to receive. Something you’re proud of.

If you are brand new to Swap-Bot, then please take the time to familiarize yourself with the site. Be sure to read the FAQ Page to your left, it will answer 99% of your questions.

Remember to:

  • Fill out your profile, for some ideas you can click here and here

  • Create a nice package based on your partner’s profile.

  • Be sure to include a note to let your partner know who you are and what swap your package is for.

  • You do not have to send a homemade item, just remember most of us love things others make especially for us!

  • Be sure to send your package on time!

  • Don't forget to rate your partner. Everyone will be putting a lot of thought into your package, it's only right to let them know you received it and to give them the rating they deserve.

  • Please contact your partner before rating anything lower than perfect.

  • Please ask questions, I want everyone to have a wonderful swapping experience!

NOTE: Be sure to post pictures of your swaps to the flickr group!!

wanted to sign up for this one, as I had such a good expierence with my last Newbie swapper. But sadly, I am scheduled for surgery that week and would hate something to happen and not be able to send. So see you in #13!!!

Newbie question... how do we find out which person to send stuff to?

Merry120 11/ 2/2007 #

Partners haven't been assigned yet. When they are (hopefully soon) there will be a link that says "See the partners you send to".

I have shipped two other swaps and have 4 ready to ship on Monday. I know that we are supposed to have our swap partners info. by now. This is ridiculous!

I agree. I PM'ed Stephanie but she hasn't logged in since the 2nd. Not sure why she didn't assign partners on that day. Not sure what else we can do but wait.

I hope everything is fine and nothing bad happened. I also hope my first swap can still be salvaged.
