About Me

Hullo! My name is Michelle and I come from the sunny island of Singapore. I am mummy to three lovely fur babies who light up my world. I am generally a very cheerful person. I am also a very "girly girl", I'm in dresses 90% of the time so I love all the sweet, cute, flowery, pretty things. I am also happiest when I get the opportunity to make someone's life a little bit better, or at least a little bit less "not good". I think that in itself is a real privilege.

I went through a very painful life experience in 2014 when my husband of 10 years passed away from cancer after a 2-year long battle. That resulted in me spending a year in Sydney, volunteering at Hillsong Church, serving on the creative / worship team and attending Hillsong College where I graduated with a Certificate in Ministry. My faith as a Christian greatly helped me through this period. Now, I'm back in Singapore and actively serving as a keyboardist in my home church. Music is my passion and through this entire experience, I've found it to be a great source of comfort and solace as well, as its how I communicate with God.

About Swapping

I know shipping to Singapore can sometimes be very costly so please feel free to visit my Etsy or AliExpress wishlists. I've put down a number of cheap (less than US$3) items in there. Alot of the stores on AliExpress do free shipping to Singapore. I also re-use packaging because I think it's such a waste to throw a perfectly good envelope or box away.

Also, above any extras or some such, I would love a nice hand-written or typed note telling me about yourself. It doesn't need to be long or lengthy, I just enjoy connecting with people and reading a little bit about your life. No pressure at all, only if you love writing!

Things I love...

Honestly, I love ALL mail and will appreciate anything that you've put care in sending but if you would like some ideas on what I especially enjoy:

  • Quality over quantity!
  • Botanical art
  • Watercolor
  • Pointed pen
  • Calligraphy
  • TEA! (especially the fruity ones / infusions but not so much spicy tea - I HATE nutmeg, clove, pepper, fennel and star anise and cardamom but I'm ok with cinnamon and ginger... Please do not put tape, not even washi, on tea bags, it ruins the packaging!)
  • Flowers
  • Leaves
  • Monstera
  • Doilies
  • Postcards (blank to use or naked and stamped for me!)
  • Note cards (blank to use)
  • Onion skin paper
  • Letter writing paper
  • Letter sets
  • Nice or pretty envelopes
  • Snail mail supplies
  • Washi tape
  • Meaningful quotes
  • Pastel colors
  • Unicorns
  • Horses / Ponies
  • Cactus
  • Natural perfumes or scents
  • Aromatherapy
  • Candles
  • Pressed flowers
  • Aromatherapy blends
  • Natural, plant-based shower gels
  • I play the piano, so anything piano related
  • Macarons
  • Nice tote bags
  • Things that I can use around the house or at my desk at work (e.g. tape dispenser, file folders, notebooks, techie accessories)
  • Lace
  • Fleur de Lis
  • French lavender
  • Chandeliers
  • Sweet, lovely flowery things
  • Carousels
  • Snow globes
  • Anything with the white Westie doggie motif! I love my Westies!
  • Things to use around the house (like cups, plates etc.)
  • Cute boxes and containers
  • Colors: Robin's egg blue, mint green, pretty pink, sunshine yellow, bright cheery colors, pastel colors
  • Ephemera (but not junk scraps of paper, based on your own personal standards is good enough for me!)
  • Stickers (can never get enough of them, including sticker flakes, just no reward stickers!)
  • Craft materials

Brands I love:

  • Chase & Co (UK) (Their stationery, OMG!)
  • Paperchase! (UK)
  • Cavallini & Co. (US)
  • Papier (UK)
  • Midori (Japan)
  • Papersource (US)
  • Mr Wonderful (Spain)
  • Diptyque (France)
  • Laduree (France)
  • Loft (Japan)
  • Tokyu Hands (Japan)

I also have some special requests which I would LOVE if anyone can fulfil and would be happy to do private swaps for! :)

General: Return address labels

From Netherlands:

  • The Pepin Press (label and sticker books, gift and creative papers, letter writing sets, paper craft books)
  • flow magazine and special edition books (everything grows with love, a book that takes its time, mindfulness and mindfulness workbook, book for paper lovers, book of posters and cards)

Postcards I collect

  • Maxicards
  • UNESCO World Heritage Sites
  • Botanical art
  • Horses (I'm born in the year of the horse!)
  • Linen postcards
  • Children’s books illustrations
  • Doors, doorways, gates and windows
  • Maps of your city / country (I especially love the hand-drawn ones)
  • Subway maps
  • Airline postcards of their destinations
  • Postcards from young, modern, hipster local artists
  • Postal or snail mail themed
  • Love or heart themed
  • "Greetings from..." postallove

I also collect any matching stamps, or stamps related to the above categories. :)

Characters I love

  • Rilakkuma
  • Korilakkuma
  • Mamegoma
  • Kiiroitori
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • The Little Prince
  • HANNARI TOFU!
  • Classic Pooh (but not the Disney Winnie the Pooh!)

Private Swaps

I am always up for private swaps! Simply send me a message and we can set something up! I can send:

  • Different flavored Kit Kats (typically Japanese types)
  • UNESCO site postcard from Singapore (Botanic Gardens)
  • Jetoy postcards
  • Profile surprises
  • Flipbooks
  • Snail mail themed packages
  • Karel Capek tea

Rather Not

Please don't send any occult or satanic items. I also am not a fan of Halloween, scary, evil or spooky things.

Pet Peeve: Folded memo sheets... rather you not send please. Memo sheets are so pretty and when they arrive folded, it's just a tad big depressing. Yes I know, I have a weird relationship with stationery. :D

The (not so) Fine Print

I fulfill every swap I participate in and I keep a very detailed excel file of all the swaps I participate in. It has the all the swap information in it, and the date I packed it, sent it, marked sent, rated and such. I also have photos of a lot of the swaps I send out so if a package due from me is lost in transit or takes a bit longer to get there, please let me know and I will track it down. If it cannot be found, I will gladly re-send another. Please do give me the opportunity to rectify the situation before rating a 3 or 1.

If you feel my package hasn't met swap requirements for some reason or other, or if you think it's "borderline" 5, please also let me know. I hate it when my partners don't like what they've received, or if I've read a profile wrong and I'm always happy to make up for it!

That said, it's always (VERY) useful if you have a working Etsy favorites list because that way, I can easily see the style you like and not get your profile wrong.

Also, please know that in Singapore, the mail doesn't get picked up or postmarked on Saturdays or Sundays. I also try my best to drop off my packages way before the deadline but if I only manage a Friday afternoon drop, the package may not get postmarked until Monday.

I will re-swap items I receive if it's not quite my style, but will suit someone else better. I will not, however, re-swap handmade items. I will re-use packaging if it is still in good condition.

Also, if there is anything that I have done or any actions that I have taken that offends or upsets anyone, please do let me know if at all possible... Sometimes I may get over eager or excited about things and in the process, not realise when I have overstepped or crossed a line. I can assure you that my intentions are nothing but genuine and the last thing I want is to have done something negative (vs something good or positive).

Thank you :)

Comment: Thank you, Chelle! Thanks for your letter and extras! So sorry you have been sick; hope you are feeling better by now. Well, we have winter and it's not a bed of roses. It can be brutal. Sorry you lost your husband and I hope the wound is healing. I would recommend going to see the Churchill movie - The Darkest Hour. It was very good. Thanks for the pretty cards and the die-cut flower; very nice. Thank you so much!

Oh my goodness, we love so much of the same things! I shopped at Laura Ashley all the time when I was younger! I love pretty floral dresses too. I recently made a shaker tag with a pastel unicorn on it. You should check out my ig account! I’m sure you’d love it. We also have a love of lace, lavender, watercolour, pointed pen calligraphy, Washi tape, doilies and cacti! Rebecca Getting to know you
