This is a great site. Glad I found it.
I live with my husband and two cats and am a compulsive maker.
I have 18 college hours in art and consider myself a very medium artist with lots of heart. I've done a lot with ink and watercolor washes, some oil, some pastel, one linocut (really fun!) and a bit with acrylics.
My present situation is such that I can't do large painting/drawings, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when I discovered ATCs.
My favorite craft now is making ATCs.
My favorite ATCs to make are hand-drawn or hand-painted but also do some collage. I am very eager to learn to use beeswax in ATC making.
Some favorite authors: Sue Grafton, P.D. James, Nevada Barr, Isabelle Allende and my very favorite, Luis Alberto Urrea.
White Oleander, The Godfather, Benny and Joon, Green Card, Chocolat, Under the Tuscan Sun, and Like Water for Chocolate.
I love, soft mellow music like that of Enya or Eric Satie. Classical guitar and piano are good listening too.
I also love Dixieland jazz and the smooth jazz of Keith Jarrett.
I am very reactive to perfumes, colognes and fragrances of all kinds including scented candles and air fresheners. Please, do not send me anything with even faint scents on it. Including tobacco.
A cat or dog hair would probably make me just go, "Awww. They had a helper." But scents, and I could be out for 24 hours with a migraine.
Thank you.
Good haircuts make me happy.
I love most colors - especially Warm blues (i.e. going toward blue green), Light blue, Midnight blue, Peacock, Cranberry red, Creamy yellows, Green in all its variations, Rich browns, Rust, and Cream.
I like most things zany and whimsical. At the same time, I also like things with a serious or philosophical bent.
On art, I'm fairly open if I can tell someone has put their heart into something and/or has done a really good job.
I love things done in Art Nouveau style.
I love things chocolate or coffee flavored - or chocolate and coffee colored (hence my profile name, Cocamoca).
Too much sweet cutesy-poo, little-girly stuff.
Geese with bows around their necks.
Bows on shoes (especially men's shoes - and yes, I have seen this.)
Cards with lower frontal nudity.
Mushrooms (except for realistic - as they are found in nature)
Anime characters - unless used really creatively.
Any cartoony stuff - unless used really creatively.
Pointed ears on human characters.
Serenity.
My cat to quit clawing the wall. (I mean really, why would a cat want to claw a wall when she has an $80 state of the art scratching post ?!?!)
Textured or otherwise interesting paper.
Napkins or tissue paper suitable for beeswax collage.
Charms or milagros.
Surprises.
