About Me

I am a mom to 3 teenagers who now has the time and energy to explore all of the crafting the world of art has to offer.

I've been a die-hard scrapbooker for almost 20 years and have amassed quite a collection of supplies.Over the past year, I've branched out into other styles of art like painting, collage, junk journals, altered books and book making.

I live in the Southeast United States with my husband, 3 teenagers and an elderly (vintage?) dog who loved to keep me company while I craft. Update 2/21 - RIP my beautiful girl. I miss you so much.

Current crafting interests

Since the pandemic lockdown, I have discovered junk journaling and altered books. Now I pretty much exclusively make and alter books -- so much fun! I'm a beginner, but my projects end up looking like art journals so I think its going well :)

I'm early in my search for vintage ephemera to decorate the pages and could use just about anything vintage, steampunk, and 1940's and 1950's era.

Items I am on the lookout for are:

vintage textiles

old tickets.photos and advertisements

Old used letters and envelopes

vintage office supplies such as ledger paper, time cards, receipts

any aged paper both written on and blank.

*vintage and old can be the way it looks and not based on its actual age.

Favorite Crafts

I tend to go through phases of getting into new styles of crafting. Currently, I'm discovering junk journals and altered art. Of course that also led me into altered books and now book making. I just bought a book binding kit on amazon and I'm gathering my supplies to make my first book. Fingers crossed...

I've always enjoyed scrapbooking and general paper crafts. I've wished to be the kind of artist who can draw or paint anything, but even as far back as elementary school, none of my original drawings ever made it to refrigerator door status. Once I was old enough to buy my own supplies, I drifted towards art kits, paint by number and now diamond painting.

I've been watching Youtube tutorials on junk journals and watercolor art. I'm hooked :)

My mother started me very young on crochet and knitting. Every few years I go through a yarn phase where I create new hats, scarves and blankets for my loved ones. I still enjoy making these things, but my family is getting tired of my constant gifts of yet another scarf.

Years ago, I was a sewer of clothing and also made a few quilts. I still have my sewing machine, but it's been in the closet for a good couple of decades. Maybe someday I'll be drawn back into it.

For Christmas,my husband gave me an Impressart metal jewelry stamping kit. I haven't tried it out but it does look like fun!

So many crafts, so little time...

Favorite Television

I'm very much into documentaries and crime dramas. My go-to is reality court shows (I know, crazy huh?) but I just love relaxing in the evening watching Hot Bench or People's Court. My kids tease me mercilessly about this, but I think they are secretly fascinated by the judicial system as it plays out on reality shows like these.

I actually watch very little TV, and am more into You Tube videos. This is where I've gone down the rabbit hole of "craft with me" videos and have really expanded my interests in crafting beyond scrapbooks and the occasional card.

Back when the theaters were open, my guilty pleasure was to go to a matinee showing of a horror movie on a weekday, all by myself. I'd get a way overpriced bag of popcorn and drench it in faux butter liquid and tons of salt. It was a great way to kick back and relax. Netflix and a bag of Pop Secret is the best I can do lately.

Any Junk Journal Supplies

Earth tones, jewel tones

decorative napkins for crafting

Dogs, esp yellow labs

Music theme

Coffee and coffee themed embellishments/ephemera

Farmhouse & buffalo check

spray inks

hydrangeas (favorite flower)

Stickers, especially those on clear background

Frosted coffee at Chic Fil-A

Nature/ Outdoors

Anything that looks old - true vintage stuff is fantastic, but I also like the vintage style in new supplies. Tea and coffee staining is a passion of mine. It makes anything look cool.

Tim Holtz

Graphic 45

Quirky, weird, interesting and unusual things

Horror, mystery, scary, spooky

washi tape - the kind that looks like its printed on vellum

vintage children's books and illustrations

Bath & Body Works Freesia Scented items (the old one in the purple packaging)

Tea of any variety (yeah and I'm from the south. Go figure)

Debbie Mum style country theme.

Baby, child and wedding themed stickers

religious/political stuff

Also, please do not send food items. One of my kids has a lot of allergies so I'm careful about the food I have in the house.
